They are selling the standalone DVD here as well. I thought everyone knew about it. Dana, I haven't see the scriptbook (though I've heard about it).

I have the scriptbook. It's pretty interesting and includes some behind-the-scenes type stuff and some pictures and, of course, (the best part for me) the music for each song in the back of the book.

How's the sriptbook work with the music? Does it just have a cue for each song?

It has real sheets for every song, so you can play it on your piano if you want to. I also includes the script ( !), a 'previously on' text, musical terminology from the script i.e the things Joss relates to in the songs, behind the scenes text - really interesting read - goes into every song etc and then there's pictures. A definite book for anyone who's really a fan of the episode considering the sheets and all ;D

Oh, definitely. I was just more wondering how the script itself (aside from the extras) works with the musical aspect of the show.

It's typed up like this example: We see her continuing to train thoughout the rest the number - - practicing flying kicks, working the bag, always in extreme slo mo, while Giles circles her at regular speed, watching. Giles (cont'd) YOUR SISTER'S CRIES YOU WON'T HEAR AT ALL 'CAUSE YOU KNOW i'M HERE TO TAKE THAT CALL SO YOU JUST LIE THERE, WHEN YOU SHOULD BE STANDING TALL BUT I... I WISH I COULD LAY YOUR ARMS DOWN AND LET YOU REST AT LAST WISH I COULD SLAY YOUR DEMONS BUT NOW THAT TIME HAS PASSED WISH I COULD STAY WE START WITH STANDING FAST BUT I'M STANDING IN THE WAY I'M JUST STANDING IN THE WAY The number ends. Buffy turns to him. Buffy Did you say something? He looks at her. And that's basically how all of the script looks whenever there's singing. If they are singing a duet and the lyrics goes at the same time, like when Tara and Giles sings together then it's written beside one another instead of after. Hope that clears up your question

Cool, thanks for that, Dana. It's interesting to see that it was all treated like dialogue.

My vote had to go to Walk Through the Fire, but it was tied with RIP and Something to Sing About. Going Through the Motions was also okay, and I agree that Anya's little part about bunnies is hilarious. I can't imagine having bunny fear.

Cool, thanks for that, Dana. It's interesting to see that it was all treated like dialogue. You're welcome. Yeah, it's kinda funny that they've done that but at the same time. not suprising as the songs do bring on the story of the episodes and perhaps he'd say it anyway, but without the notes.. but maybe not to Buffy

I don't know if he'd say it to anyone, but it would definitely be insinuated. But that's one of the great things about OMWF - the characters got to express themselves thoroughly, which is something they hadn't been doing - especially in the recent episodes up to that point.

Exactly. I liked the open air, clearing of minds. Even if things kinda blew up in some faces it was needed. They all had stuff bottled up. And one could say that this episode marked the beginning of the downfall of both Buffy and Willow. I also liked Sweet. He was a bad guy of the good old days. He actually let them off the hook in the end.

Only because he didn't want to marry Xander. I agree that it was great to see, or I guess hear, what everyone was thinking.

I lived my life in shadow, never the sun on my face. It didn't seem so sad though, I figured that was my place.... ok, I'm gonna stop singing now. I really love Under Your Spell. (obviously)

I loved all the songs, but "Walk Through the Fire" was my favorite. I loved how each person had their own part, and like Luke said it was pretty upbeat. I also enjoyed "Where Do We Go From Here." I loved the line "understand we go hand in hand, but we walk alone in fear." My sister and I always watch that part at least twice . However, I've always wondered, why did they sing Where Do We Go From Here? Wasn't it over because Sweet left?

They just found out they ripped Buffy out of Heaven, so I'm assuming that when they say "where do we go from here" they meant emotionally and with their friendship. Do they simply move on? Or talk about it? Or what?

No, I understand why they sang the song they did, but I'm confused on why they sang it at that time. The only reason they had been singing was because Sweet had been summoned. Doesn't that mean that when he leaves it's over and they don't sing anymore?

Oh I see. Yeah I've always wondered that too. Maybe some of his "essence" was left over just a tad?

Because the episode would have been anticlimactic if it didn't finish on a song? My reasoning was always that Sweet's essence was still hanging around for a bit.

Yeah, I always wondered about that too. The spell should be broken now that Sweet is gone. Meh. I just chalk it up to having a climatic ending. That, or the gang really liked the whole singing thing and they wanted to do it one last time before they return to normal again.
