They are too old for me! Though I wouldn't mind giving The Doors a try. I saw the movie on Morrison the other day and I liked the songs that were in it.

They are too old for me! That's crap Music is music. How old you are and how old the musicians are has bugger all to do with it. I have a friend who adores Elvis above all others. My best mate is a Doors obsessive. Look at Bre and her Beatles love... Like my dearest said, good music doesn't age.

I don't care if others like old music. To ME it's old. I listen to the radio which plays the current music and none of the oldies so I'm not expose to them. No reason for me to listen to them when I'm so used to the current music.

So there is "no reason" because you are "used to current music"?? Right... so you haven't actually listened to any so wouldn't know if you liked it or not basically I listen to the radio all day in my office. Set to 104.7. The "current music" station in Canberra. Doesn't mean i'm ignorant to older stuff. Or don't appreciate it or love it in some circumstances. You do realise that Coldplay will be "oldies" one day yes?? Hell the kings of beige are already well on the way there Will you stop listening to them do you think?? Just stick with what you are "used to" with the "current music""??

Of course I realise that! It's hard to explain but if I were growing up with music like the The Doors and stuff, I would still listen to them now. But I wasn't and was not expose to them so I don't listen to them. I have no reason to listen to them. If someone asked me to, I would give it a try. No one has as everyone is listening to the current music and I'm around current music so I'll be listening to it and will be when I'm older. I listened to BSB and all the pop bands when I was younger and still do now even though some would think it's old music. Am I making sense? I don't know. It's hard to explain. I'm not expose to these music and I have no reason to listen to them. Whatever little I've heard of, I don't like. Not my kind of music. If you like them, fine. I don't expect you to like the music I like. Some of the older generation are so use to their music during their time that they can't get use to the music that's being played now because of how different it sounds, etc.

I'll give you a reason Irene - there is LOT of good old music Some is crap of course, same as some newer music is crap. I do get listening to what you grew up with, but try branch out a little sometimes and you might be surprised Also Nico, I love the Chilli Peppers but I love Powderfinger a lot more

I love "old" music, because it's what I grew up with - my dad was always playing The Beatles, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Santana, The Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, David Bowie, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Cat Stevens, Crowded House, John Denver etc etc.

I really don't have a preference I like alot of 'oldies' that were before my time when I listen to the radio I always have it on Jack.fm because they cover alot of different genres & decades. I think most of todays acts got inspiration from past bands/artists. Including my beloved coldplay.

Don't get me wrong, I do like some of the old music. Huge fan of Johnny Cash and Nirvana (if they are considered 'old' ) and The Smiths. Am now checking out the The Doors.

How good was John Denver?! Apparently i used to request everyone put John Denber on all the time (i couldn't say V for ages). My mate Adam and i got on a kick a few years back and played him flat stick for awhile.
