I think this show has been going for a while in the US but it just started in the Uk and I'm really getting into it. It has a fantastic line up: Calista Flockhart, Rob Lowe, Balthazar Getty, Sally Field, Rachel Griffiths, Matthew Rhys, Ron Rifkin
Basically about a large family and the secrets revealed when the father dies. Its had me gripped since the begining but then I'm a sucker for this kind of American TV.
Has anyone been watching?

I think the first season has finished here, and I never watched a full episode. What I've seen looked good, but I just never committed the time to it. The cast is fantastic, and what I've seen of their performances has been amazing.
Be sure to let me know if the quality continues, and whether I should check it out on DVD when it's released, Tash.

I've watched quite a bit of it. I love how quirky the family is. It should last a while.

I wanted to start a thread on this show when I heard it's starting here next Monday. Isn't one of the Buffy writers working on this show? It seems like an interesting show. I will catch it when it airs next Monday. I haven't heard much about the progress of this show. I hope it's not cancelled.

So I caught the first ep and I liked it. But it's too early to say whether it would be a show I'll watch religiously. I have to watch a couple more. But I have to say that Calista Flockhart is so much better to watch here. I didn't like her much in Ally Mcbeal. And glad to know that this show has been renewed for a second season.

I really like this show. Kevin is my fave - he cracks me up Rob Lowe is an excellent addition to the cast. I have been a fan since St Elmo's Fire and of course Sam Seabourn on the West Wing was just I get the impression he and Calista are not fans of one another though. They have the chemistry of a couple of rags a lot of the time.

Rob Lowe isn't in it yet over here but he is always awsome. I agree Kevin is really funny but very very sweet when he's with scotty

Thoughts on how the show's been lately? I think Season 2 is really good, maybe even better then Season 1, i'm enjoying it a lot.

I'm in the middle of season one and I'm loving this show! My favourite sibilings are Kevin and Justin. Great to see Emily VanCamp added to the cast. Was a huge fan of Everwood and I liked her on it. Great addition to this show in my opinion.

One thing I've noticed from little bits and pieces (not to mention advertising) is that the series seems to be very "right wing" and pushing that viewpoint. Would you guys say that's the case, or that it's just me catching certain bits that lead me to think it?

I wouldn't say that no. There is a lot of discussion about the positives and negatives of both sides. The family is split along political lines so there seems to be a balance in the way both viewpoints and ideals are presented. Which really is pretty unusual for a prime time show like that. Of course I'm not saying its deep or meaningful or anything - its still fluff I must say their casting of Rob Lowe as the big Republican hope is rather amusing though considering his history in the most Democratic show of all time - The West Wing

Maybe Rob Lowe wanted to show his range - "I can play a Republican too". :-P Thanks for the comments about the politics - if it shows both sides, all is good - I was just worried that it'd be pushing one particular (and likely the creator's) viewpoint. Both sides is far better, regardless of how heavy it is.

I think there was a lot more humour in season 1 than in season 2, its had a lot of hard hitting issues and there hasn't really been a break for the family, its just one terrible event after another. I hope they bring some of the lightness back soon, it'd be good to have the balance back.
One thing I absolutely cannot stand this season is the actions of Tommy! I've lost all respect for him

And now Tommy has gotten worse! Though I do feel sorry for him a little bit. Has anyone else been watching this season?

I've only watched till season 2. Waiting for season 3 to air here in NZ, which I hope is soon. I don't think I like the idea of another Walker out there. :-\ And Justin and Rebecca? Noooo! Why do they have to hook up?!

Haven't seen it but I've read the spoilers. I kinda knew someone would have something like cancer but didn't expect it to be Kitty. I thought it would be Kevin to be sick for some reason.
I think Kitty would get breast cancer. It would be a very interesting storyline for them especially with her relationship with Robert and his health issues. I hope this would bring them together instead of driving them apart though. I love them together.

I hope so too. I like their relationship. They were testing something in her lymph nodes (sp?). It's really sad now because they have their baby and it's just not good timing. Perfect television.
