This got brought up on BT, but since I dislike BT now I am moving it to here muahaha!
In Amends, Angel is brought back from hell. So who do you think was responsible and why?

Wasn't he bought back in Faith, Hope and Trick?? Anyway I think it was the PTB. They needed their warrior plain and simple.

I voted for PTB. like I said on BT I have a really hard time believing that the First would go to all the trouble of bringing him back only to be satisfied by Angel killing himself! From what we saw the First's main motive was to have Angel as evil + kill the slayer, + settling for suisided acomplished nothing.
Therefore I think it was PTB all the time, especially with the snow storm to save Angel

He was brought back in Faith, Hope and Trick. I thought it was the First, but I haven't seen Amends in a long time. That episode annoys me too much. I'd have to watch it again to remember it well.

Amends is great! Its one of my fave eps in Season 3. That little speech Buffy gives to Angel on the bluff gets me every single time. And the little dream sequence - Angel's a hand holder !! And i agree with Tash - the snow storm is further proof of the PTB's involvement

I almost laughed at that speech of hers. I'm not a fan of all the overly romantic and sappy episodes on Buffy. Its so dramatic it borders on comedy. So I would rate it as one of my least favourite episodes in season 3

I hate all the romancey, sappy stuff in real life but i eat it up on-screen I love Buffy's speech. The only bit i think is funny is the: "I tried to make you go away. I killed you and it didn't help", now i'll give you that as amusing.....

Ah oops. Of course he was brought back in Faith hope and Trick. . You all knew what I meant I think that it was the First that brought him back, but the PTB that intervened and caused the snow.

Nope. It was the PTB from the start IMO. How can The First bring back someone from hell??

How can the PTB? The First had a lot of power.

The PTB are the PTB! They can turn back time they can bring someone back from hell i say. The First didn't do it plain and simple.

Thats a convincing argument I'll go and watch the episode again I think. Then I'll see who I think it was.

So I would rate it as one of my least favourite episodes in season 3 Only almost laughed? I did laugh. I thought it was hilariously pathetic. And it IS rated my least favourite in season 3. I went for the PTB. I always just assumed it was them. I don't really see how it can be otherwise. The first had no reason to bring him back if they were happy with killing him again.

Only almost laughed? I did laugh. I thought it was hilariously pathetic. I had my little sister sitting next to me crying. At the time it seemed smarter to hold the laughter in

Since I was the wonderful person who started the topic at BT , here's my opinion: I never thought of the idea that the PtB could have brought him back, but I suppose it's possible. I'd like to think that he was brought back from the First, because the First wanted Angel to be a pawn, like Spike, but since Angel overcame it, with the help of Buffy, the First just gave up. And plus the First was my favorite Big Bad. And if the PtB brought him back, it was a smart move for them. Since he ended up working at WRH. And if their agenda was to turn him evil, they were darn close. And, what's up with people not liking Buffy's speech and the romance? I balled my poor eyes out. Yeah, okay, so David Boreanaz isn't the best cryer, but SMG was awesome.

It was corny. Her lines were just funny. The romantic crap is not the reason I ever watched Buffy. Those episodes either make me laugh or annoy me.
But all that other stuff you wrote is what I thought too.

Yeah, I agree that Buffy is corny at some points, but I think it gives her character.

The romantic 'crap' as you so elegantly refer to it as is not the reason i ever watched Buffy but hell i still enjoy it. I have to admit that a lot of my favourite eps contain the lovey, dovey stuff..... Angel, Surprise, Innocence, Becoming, Amends, The Prom etc.etc. The reason i fell for the show in the first place was that final shot in Angel where the cross is burned into his chest. I'm sorry but i think that's awesome. And in no way corny.

Yes, the Prom, very heart-felt.. I cried. Also, when Buffy's cross was burned into him.. that was nice. And wouldn't there be a scar there? Or did he just heal fast?
