I really love them all. My least favorite is Restless but I don't know if I could really choose between Becoming, Graduation Day, The Gift, and Chosen. Prophecy Girl was very good but I'd rank the other finales above it.
Well..I'll just say Becoming, Graduation Day and The Gift are all tied for my fav finales.

I think it is very hard to choose between those two. They are both fantastic and have much the same excitement and explosive action. I could probably change my mind on those two everyday!

Restless is probably my favourite episode of the lot, though it feels a bit differently. I also love Becoming, Chosen, and The Gift.

Becoming pt 2 is the best one indeed. Nothing beats the shock, the tragedy, the Xander betrayal (heh!), Spike's betrayal (LMAO!), Willow's first spell, Oz and Cordelia (I prefer them to Tara and Anya), Giles torture (hugs), Buffy's hair and cheecks, and so much more!

I've rethought it... While I do love Restless, it's a "different" type of episode, and while thinking about ranking them, it wouldn't be up there.
So, my list:

Ranking is Hard!. 1. Becoming Part 2 (No doubt in my mind this was my favourite) 2.Chosen (Im a sentimental old fool, I love to see Buffy Happy, and not feeling alone anymore) 3. The Gift (Loved Buffy's Speech, the episode was brilliantly written) 4. Graduation Day Part 2 (I love Love Love Season 3, and I love love love this Finale to a goddamn brilliant season) 5.Restless (Meh, best part of season 4  ) 6.Prophecy Girl (Was an okay Finale for the first season) 7. About Restless-
It's a great episode, but it just doesn't feel like a season finale. It just feels like another episode. I ranked Chosen last because it's just too rushed. Considering it's the last Buffy episode, I think they could have done a better job.

In regard to Restless, it did feel a bit different due to it being more of a coda to the season. Personally, I think it worked, and considering season 4's "problems", it was nice to see something a bit different.

True. It's still a great episode, even if it doesn't feel like a typical season finale.
I remember reading somewhere that Normal Again could have possibly been a season finale. I'm not sure if that's even correct, but it's interesting.

I thought I heard that somewhere as well, and I think they were concerned tha if it were, it would give people the wrong impression, and make them think that was the end of the series. That, and people would be confused when the series started again, afterwards.
I can't remember where I heard it (and it was a while ago)...

Oooh that would have made an awesome finale. I think for the most part, Buffy audiences are smart enough to know the show and know if it was ended.
I loved Restless because it was an unconventional finale, and it's a beautiful episode.

I would have loved to see Normal Again as a Season Finale, I Love Cliffhangers, and even though, you know that the mental institue part of the episode isnt really where she is, but it all makes sense, and it makes your brain think *what if*!. I also loved restless because we rarely get to see the after-effects of a season Finale, it skips possibly a few months after when the next season starts, it was nice to see the scoobies directly after they saved the world. Edit, replaced the first restless with normal again, oops |
