So, I have a great new job at a comic shop now, and you'll love the perks. Two days ago, I was standing at my register, when a man approached me. He said:
"Your boss told me you were the resident Buffy fan."
And I kind of nodded. And he asked me, "What do you think of Buffy the Animated Series?" Oh, that's right. He was an official representative from Mutant Enemy, out for public opinions. The animated series is back on the planning board!!
I personally told him that, though Spike is a fan favorite, I don't think he'd make a good solo show because part of what makes Buffy so great is that it's an ensemble show. Now, Angel could pull off gaining his own ensemble, but Spike doesn't play that way and we all know it. I thought Faith would make a great subject. Or possibly, if they wanted something new, they could do Fray, which would draw in a lot of people from different Sci Fi fandoms, particularly some of the Aeon Flux people because I think it would appeal to them.
What do you guys think? What kind of cartoon would you wanna see?

I'd like to see the actual Buffy show continue as the cartoon rather than a spin off But if we had to go for a spin off, the Ripper idea always sounded cool to me. Faith I'm not sure about. Spike could have a spin off so long as he wasn't the sole main. An an awesome foursome of Darla, Angelus, Dru and Spike in their hey day would be my favourite option.

I would like to see a post apocolyptic LA. The remaining fang gang have to deal with the consequences of taking on the Senior Partners. Its not just them that the SP want to destroy but everything starting with California. It could reunite the scoobies with the fang gang also.
Spike solo would be wierd, Willow i dont want to see but a Faith one could work. Also i know nothing of Fray but what snippets i have heard it sounds interesting.

Firefly, unfortunatly, never had the popularity that Buffy did. I did mention it, but that's what he told me. And the only reason we probably won't get a post LA thing is because they are doing the season 8 comic right now, and they don't want to have to overlap canon and make everything match up all at the same time. But, at last check, Faith is not scheduled to be a part of the season 8 comic, and therefore is free game.
I think Fray would be so awsome. She's my hero right now. I'm dying my hair to match hers for next year's Dragon*con

I still think making comic canon is tricky business. Not everyone can get hold of them and some will out right refute it just because its not onscreen.

*headshake* It's written by Joss, that makes it canon in my book. And I wouldn't worry about getting ahold of it. Once all the issues are out, they'll be put in a trade book, which are nice and cheap and can be ordered online. That's how I got Spike Old Times, Spike vs Dracula, and Fray.
And besides, Fray is a comic and it's considered canon.

Makes it canon in my book too. They need to spin off more than just Faith for it to work imo. At least one main scoobie is needed imo but they won't break them up. So maybe a Faith and Spike spin off cartoon would work :dunno:

Haha and a wacky pair they would make. I see lotsa lotsa sex I take it as canon if Master of the Planet Joss pens it. Just others may not and debates could be hindered. Boo to them though.

My favourite argument with some people is "Well Joss said..." To me what Joss says and writes and agrees with is Canon. Its his show. Faith and Spike would definitely have the required chemistry together to make it work. Especially if it was non cartoon... sigh. I assume its a cartoon not for kiddies?

thats the idea. And I think Angel and Spike would actually be a better couple than her and Spike. I'd love to see that actually. I hope they do a comic of those two hanging out. It doesn't have to be romantic or anything, I just always liked watching them together. They understood each other so well.

I agree with Beck that I'd much prefer a continued BtVS rather than a whole new "show." However, Ripper and Faith have always been my favorites when it comes to potential spinoff topics.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Ripper spin-off. Faith, not so much, or like Glenn said something about post apocolyptic Los Angeles. That would be interesting. Hell, anything Joss creates I'm up for.

Yay everybody loving Faith for once! she would of course be my fav for the job, Becks suggestion of Darla, Angelus, Spike and Dru would make an awsome cartoon and you could go so many places with it

Oh I would LOVE to see a period piece of their group. Flashbacks episodes were always my favorites because I mean, you had my two favorite characters together! Angelus and bad ass Spike!! It would be the hotness.

Definitely hope the animated series has better luck than their last attempt! I still think making comic canon is tricky business. Not everyone can get hold of them and some will out right refute it just because its not onscreen. Canon's canon, regardless of the format. Fray's canon, as is the Serenity comic that came out to link Firefly and Serenity (speaking of which, Joss is currently writing up a follow up as well!). All a canon comic will mean is that it will reach a smaller audience.

If I had to pick what I wanted I would have to say Angel. If they are doing Buffy Season 8 comics, why not Angel Season 6 comics? Angel was left with too much stuff in the air. I want to see Angel shanshu dammit and carrying his story on is the only to do that.
Spike solo. Never. The character isn't deep enough or interesting enough to hold his own. Spike needs to play off others.

You are a Spike hater aren't you? How does that happen? I think Spike is very interesting and could hold his own story. He has everything an entertaining character needs: comic relief, a sympathetic background, a villainous side, sex appeal, need I say more? I think Angel's story is finished being told. But I would love to see a Ripper one.

I would love to see a Ripper one, I would definetly buy it, I would also buy Spike, I dont like Spin-offs, I find them hard to *get into*, I would hate to see anything with Angel, Unless it was Angelus.
