You are a Spike hater aren't you? How does that happen? I think Spike is very interesting and could hold his own story. He has everything an entertaining character needs: comic relief, a sympathetic background, a villainous side, sex appeal, need I say more? I think Angel's story is finished being told. But I would love to see a Ripper one. No I'm not a Spike hater. I like his character but I don't think he could hold his own series. We saw in Ats S5 that Spike isn't a champion like Angel. Angel helps people and guides them to redemption. Spike tells them they're stupid for wearing heels in an alley. They are different and Spike can't do that alone so he needs to play off someone. How is Angel's story finished? There is still a lot to tell. Coming to terms with the fact he will never be redeemed. Will he ever find love again? Will he ever become human? Will he ever be happy? Plenty of stories left to tell.

I agree Angel was finished. The ending to it was perfect imo which really for me rules out any spin-off with any of those characters. An evil foursome back when they were in their hey day really is the thing I'd most love to see. But I am going to say, again, that Spike was a champion, just like Angel. He'd been fighting for only two years its kind of hard to then say, but Angel was more a champion. And ok yeah, Spike's people skills aren't great - neither were Angel's for more than 100 years. Anyway, OT. I do agree that Spike needs other characters to play off, but so do all of the characters. Thats why you can't have a comic, series, movie etc with only one character But I think Spike's story was also finished so I wouldn't want to see him as a lead character in any spin off.

Angel has comics, but the license is held by a different company (IDW). Joss isn't involved, and the stories are non-canonical (so they're refusing to tell the outcome of the final battle against the Senior Partners).
Spike gets some solo stories through IDW. Most of them are set throughout the Angel series, with his side adventures.
The best Spike one they did was Spike VS Dracula, four issues, each telling a different conflict between the two. Great stuff!
EDIT:
I see Angel as finished, as I saw Buffy after Season 7. There was closure brought to the series, but not to the point of where you can't tell additional stories, and continue it.
And let's not forget that Angel was cancelled at the last minute, and wasn't by design. The finale was rushed to bring sudden closure, when everyone assumed that they had at least another year.
They're completely different characters, and have completely different strengths and weaknesses. In his small time being souled, Spike accomplished far more than Angel in the same period.
So, I'd say that Spike's a champion, or at the least, a champion in the making.

Plenty of stories left to tell. I agree with Beck for the reasons why Spike is a champion and that every character needs someone to play off of. Maybe Angel signed the Shanshu because he shouldn't ever be redeemed. He did do horrible things, why should he be forgiven? Same goes for Spike. But that's not why I think Angel's story is over. I was content with the way it ended. About Angel's love life, I honestly don't care. I thought most of his love stories were boring. And those same questions you asked about Angel could be answered about Spike.

Has anybody heard any more on the prospect at all?
I'm guessing we wouldn't be seeing anything new until after Joss is done with season 8...
