So, why could The First touch Angel? It's stressed over and over that The First is incorporeal, yet it could touch Angel. Why?

Simple answer would be that when The First was introduced they didnt really know what it was and what it could do. Joss will have remembered that he had this villain he could bring back and thought about a new spin for a bad guy and came up with the non corporeal thing later.

Actually, it doesn't touch Angel. It puts its hand near his cheek but its hand doesn't actually make contact.

Yeah, I remember Joss mentioning that in an interview, because people had misconstrued it.

I think i remember a scene where the first brushed someones hair with its fingers once. Not sure now, but ive heard others mention similar things.

I'll have to check it out again. Joss's comment could have been just to cover his tracks and deny a continuity error.

Maybe I will have to look more closely, but it looked like it touched him. The time where Angel had his head in his hands at the mansion The First seems to touch his hands. And it also guides him to the table before the dream sequence...there might have been a couple other times as well.

Well, the First also sat on a barrel in the vineyard in season 7. I thought was odd, considering Spike went through everything when he was incorporeal.

I know where it was that i saw the first brush someones hair with its fingers now. It was season 7 Episode 1 "Lessons". Spike is slightly crazy in the basement and the first is changing into everyone. When it becomes Drusilla it moves Spike's hair with her fingers. Bad, Juliet, bad

You can just chalk it up to Spike's insane disorientation then! The Jossverse is above continuity errors, I tell you!

Lol, I agree with Allan! No errors in Jossverse! Perhaps the First was able to graze skin with its fingers. Or maybe it wasn't even touching them. Maybe it was just touching where their skin was, but it was actually going through...well, I don't know if that makes sense, but I tried .

I've been meaning to rewatch it... I just need to remember when I have a spare 42 minutes.
