I was kind of put off because it was just yanked off of the air, I was kind of worried it didnt finish, or that it finished on some sort of cliffhanger?

Well, yes and no. The movie helped wrap up some things (or at least bring them closer to a close) and left some things wide open (or wider open). But all in all, especially if you've seen the movie, I would recommend watching the DVDs. You'll definitely get a better feel for the characters and history.

I love Simon! ;D I just love how loving and sweet he is to his sister and how he would do anything to keep her safe and protect her from the authorties. I would love to have someone watch over me like that.  Not to mention how hot he is. ;D |

He was a bit darker in Serenity.
Apparently he was getting back to how Joss envisaged him originally, before he just tended to lighten up.
That said, I preferred the slightly lighter, goofier take.

Mal is a lot darker in the movie too, he lighten up a few of the characters on the networks say so I think for the show.

I enjoy Mal a lot but my favourite has to be Kaylee. She's such a happy, sweet and funny character. Kinda a mix of tomboy and a girly girl and I was confused at why she didn't get a bigger role in Firefly/Serenity. I love her interaction with Simon and how she tries to understand him and then they fall out, it's amusing. I enjoy all the crew too but Kaylee stands out more with her contrasting attitude to life in general.

Oh you must watch the series to see the change in Mal and River's relationship. The end seen in Serenity when they're flying together? So cute.

My favourite character is Mal, I just love his habit of punching everyone, also had some great moments including kicking a guy into the Serenity engines whilst they were switched on (brilliant!) .

Mal's great. He has some great moments like that, but he's also a really layered character.

i had to pick mal, hes got that whole han solo thing going on only he does it better, second is kaylee, she would of been first but i thought she was a bit under used I totally agree here. I just love the way Mal is with the girls, like he just doesn't get them lol and kaylee cos she seems such a sweetie |

One of my favourite traits of Mal's is how protective he is of everyone, whether he "gets" them or not.
