On July 4th my friend won tickets to Summerfest. She got tickets for Plain White T's (who I'm not a huge fan of, but they're alright) but I'll go anyway. Any concert should be fun. BUT Tool is playing at Summerfest the same day and they are my absolute favorite band of the time so if the tickets don't include their stage I am totally sneaking in.

On August 22, i went to The Project Revolution concert. The main reason i went was for the band Saosin, but the other bands that were there were Madina Lake, The Bled, Styles of Beyond, Mindless Self Indulgence, Julient K, Placebo, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, HIM, and Linkin Park. There were two stages. The minor one had the first four bands i have on the list above plus Saosin and the major one had the other 6 bands.
At first i was disappointed that Saosin was on the smaller stage, but then i saw that there were no seats for the smaller stage. You were actually standing up and you could go as close to the stage as you wanted. Man, i had to be about 8 feet from them. I was crazy excited. And while me and my friend were watching them live, my uncle went to stand in line for autographs.
It was all great until people started crowd surfing and being thrown all over the place. I got kicked in the shoulder and someone fell right ontop of my friend. Then there were the mosh pits. We were getting pushed all over the place, but i think it was worth it.
After Saosin finished playing, my friend and i went right over to the autograph stand where my uncle was waiting for us. I was so excited. I mean i was actually going to meet all the members of the band. You'd think it would be a very exciting moment. It really wasn't. The band came out and it was like an assembly line. I went up there, gave them my poster and concert ticket to sign and then i was off. They weren't even smiling. It's like it was a chore for them. I mean i can understand that they had just played and they were probably really tired, but they didn't seem at all enthused. The band Madina Lake was autographing at the stand next to Saosin's. All four of the members were smiling from ear to ear and giving their fans hugs and taking pictures with them. That's okay though. If i was on tour and every single day i had to go to a new city and play the same songs in scourching heat, i might be alittle cranky too.
Anyways, while i was there, i got a picture with the Madina Lake singer and an autograph. We forgot to bring cameras so my uncle had to take a pic with his phone. He's supposed to be sending me the pics so i'll have to show you guys.
After Saosin played, Mindless Self Indulgence came on. It was the first time i'd ever heard of them and i was amazed. The band put on a really cool performance and the singer is freakin hilarious. They're songs were really good. Their music is a cross between techno and rock. As far as favorite bands, they're creeping up rather quickly on Saosin.
After Mindless Self Indulgence, we went to the main stage where we had seats. The seats we had were pretty darn good. I was able to see everything except for facial features....well that could be because i didn't have my glasses on lol. Julient K was up first and they were really bad. Well, not bad i just wasn't into their music. I didn't actually start dancing and stuff like that until Taking Back Sunday came on. Then it was My Chemical Romance and then Linkin Park. I can't believe how well the band does live. I mean it was like listening to them on cd. And no, they weren't lip singing either. After them, the show was over. I was exhausted but i didn't want the concert to end.
On the way out of the parking lot the singer from Mindless Self Indulgence was riding around on a little pink bicycle going "Vrmmm, Vrmmm" lol. It was so funny. He'd sign a few autographs, take a few pictures and then he'd ride off again. Then come back and do some more lol. My friend and i got our pictures taken with him. The picture turned out horrible. We were all sweaty and gross because we had been dancing all night lol. Oh well, he didn't smell to good either lol. Well, that was my night. It had to be one of the most fun times i have ever had.
The Project Revolution was all over the world, did anyone else go?

Coldplay is coming to NZ next month and I'm planning to go! At first I wasn't but then my aunt and uncle said they are willing to drive me down to the show if I wanted to go. So now, I'm just waiting to see if I can get tickets. The first show is sold out!
So anyone else went to a concert recently or planning to go to one this new year?

Mmmm Nickleback and Seether are playing in April, and I almost managed a ticket to see Britney too, but the tickets for that are like 300 each and they sold out in minuts so.. boo. Still Nickleback will be wicked sweet.

Me either. The last concert I went too was 3 years ago. Not many acts come down to Singapore and when they do, they aren't anyone I like.
In NZ, it's just too far to travel.

Kings of Leon is another concert I'm keen to go and see. I think I'll go for that if I can't make it for the Coldplay one.

Ok Irene, i've been turned. Your beloved Coldplay just wrapped up their Sound Relief set and they were fricking incredible! Apart from owning You're the Voice with John Farnham, Chris Martin was lovely and funny and sang brilliantly. And he just took off into the crowd running and laughing during Fix You which was hilarious. The bodyguards freaked out But he just popped out grinning and took off again Awesome stuff. Very glad i got to see it I think you are in for a very cool concert mate. Oh, Kings of Leon are on. Got to get back to it! Edit: Kings of Leon are bloody fabulous. Should have gone to their concert like i wanted to. Damn it.

I saw Kings of Leon play at Big Day out in 2006. They're good live.

Chris Martin is such a entertainer and performer. First time I saw them in Singapore, I was blown away by how energetic Martin was. I've never seen them perform live before - even on TV. Trying to get my hands on the Wellington show at the moment. Hopefully I'll get them. ;D

My highlight from Sound Relief - Coldplay and John Farnham doing You're the Voice and Coldplay doing Fix You in Sydney. We were all singing along during You're the Voice Apparently the MCG went off when it was played on the big screens down there too. Will have to ask Shaun about that one seeing as though he was there Kings of Leon, Crowded House, Jet and The Presets were also awesome IMO. Taylor Swift is.... special. To say the least. Although i did like the clothes rip off mid song

The only way to see/hear Coldplay is live, I saw them perform at the BBC studios live and they were electric, Chris Martin usually always plays different 'melodies?' for his songs so they are never they same. He is always crowd surfing to, which is crazy , he sure does know how to work up a crowd. Irene keep an eye out for the jacket Chris Martin is wearing, especially when they sing 'Viva la Vida' , I saw them do an interview and Chris said that the bassist Guy Berryman, makes some of there jackets !

Loz, Shane Warne attened Coldplay's concert on Saturday and he came on stage with them and played Maraccas for one of the songs. According to the fans, he wasn't very good.

Any word on when Sound Relief will be out on DVD?

Who knows. Legal issues apparently. They don't even have the rights to replay it on MAX or V so it might not ever make it onto DVD.

I think they should make it into DVD and donate the money made from it to the people affected.
