Sweet! Will do the same. Probably watch it on Sunday night. Btw, there are some Firefly banner/avie sets in the KAX Shop if people are interested in using them in celebration of the marathon.

We are watching both parts right? And not, watch one ep, discuss it, watch another, discuss it, etc...

Well Serenity is all one part on the DVD, so it would be best to watch the whole thing.
Aren't we doing the watch one then discuss? Well it's a casual type of thing I think, and just kind of discuss as you want, but we'll only watch an episode or two a week, right?

Oh yeah. I forgot Serenity isn't a 2-parter on DVD. I'm not sure how we are doing this. I assume, we'd watch an ep, discuss it here and then watch another when we are ready to move on.

Yes I think we watch an episode then discuss it then watch another. But discussions can overlap and start whenever really.

SerenityI've always wondered why this episode wasn't shown first instead of Train Job. It's a great ep to kick the series off! I think it's one of my favourite in the series. Great introduction to the characters and to the 'verse itself. Silly FOX. My favourite scene, of course, is the Wash/Dinosaur scene. That never gets old! And I really liked Mal's relationship with Kaylee in this episode. I don't think I've ever noticed how much he takes care of her in this episode. It's done in a very subtle way but the affection is there. I have new found love for that scene in the infirmary. Some of my favourite quotes: Wash: I'm just the pilot. If we got boarded, I could always say I was flying the ship by accident. Simon: I was just wondering what (Jayne's) job was on the ship. Mal: Public relations. Jayne: 10 percent of nothing is... let me do the math. Nothing, and nothing, carry the nothing... Wash: (first toy dinosaur) Yes, yes. This is a fertile land and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land and we will call it... "This Land." (second toy dinosaur) I think we should call it your grave! (first toy dinosaur) Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! (second toy dinosaur) Har Har Har! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! (first toy dinosaur). Jayne: Testing. Testing. Captain can you hear me? Mal: I'm standing right here. Jayne: You're coming in good and loud. Mal: 'Cause I'm standing right here.

Yeah I don't know wtf Fox was thinking by not putting "Serenity" first. Makes no sense. I also love that Jayne math quote. But my favorite part of the episode might be when Mal tells Simon that Kaylee died and they cut to Mal and the crew just laughing. I also love: Book: Captain, do you mind if I say grace? Mal: Only if you say it out loud.

Serenity was the one I saw first, so I believed it for a second It was pretty mean but Simon did come across as a pretty big jackass in this episode so I sided with Mal there.

It was mean, but funny. I believed it since it was the first episode I saw. I can't imagine that not being the first episode of the season.

I also love Mal: "We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so...very...pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die." This reminds me of Castle too Book too Book: "I brought you some supper but if you'd prefer a lecture, I've a few very catchy ones prepped...sin and hellfire... one has lepers." I liked the scene with him and Inara.

S'pore followed the U.S schedule so I saw Train Job first. I didn't know it was out of order till much later. I liked the scene with him and Inara. There aren't many scenes with him and Inara after that was there? I can't remember any.

No not many. The one where she asks if he is there to lecture him. I saw it much later on dvd, not on TV
