What teams do you support (in any sport) and what made you start supporting them? When did you become a fan?

I support:
Manchester United - my ex-bf got me into them. He was crazy about them and I watched a few games to see why. I was a fan of football before that but never really had a team though.
Green Bay Packers - My first NFL game was them and they were quite impressive.
That's about it really. I do follow other sports but don't really have a team that I follow strongly like those two above.

I support North Hobart Demons - They were the Demons and I supported them since I was about 4. They were my dads team. I still support North Hobart but they have gone through various mergers since then but are back to being my beloved Demons again now. I still follow how they are doing despite not living in Tassie anymore. Carlton Blues - I've gone for them since I was about 11 and came to really love football. Before that I watched games but I wasn't that into it. I chose them when I saw them play live at Hobart in a practise match against Essendon. Sydney Swans - I've always had a soft spot for the Swans since so many ex North Hobart players moved on to playing with them. When I moved to Canberra I began supporting them more as I saw them play a lot more. I support Tasmania in state games and Australia in any international sport, but those are the only teams I have.

St. Louis Blues - They're the home team. I've been watching them play since I was born. My dad always rooted for them. Of course, back in those days we had a damn good pedigree. We're getting back there, and they really are a good team when they have the right leader, so I just keep rooting for them. I know they'll make me proud one day. Real Madrid - They were my first football game (live, on TV, whatever) and I got to see them live in Madrid! It blew my mind. Since then I've been completely in love with Spanish football (although this last WC has convinced me the US really isn't so bad and it would be okay if I showed some national pride ). ETA: I don't follow college sports and really have no interest in them at all. However, if forced to choose a college team for some reason, I always support the University of Illinois Fighting Illini because of family pride.

I don't really care about any teams, but I love that you love the Packers, Irene. It's so random! I'm definitely sending you some GB stuff soon. (Maybe for your bday ).

I support: The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs My mum is a fanatic and corrupted me from birth. They also happen to be super awesome We were the dominant team of the 80's when i was growing up so that was cool. We won one premiership in 1995 beating the hideous Manly (see teams i hate thread). In 2004 we overcame a shocking year (and having been stripped of all out points in 2002 going from first to last because of salary cap breaches) to win against the feral Roosters (also see teams i hate thread) in the GF. I absolutely love my blue and whites. Always will. Also in league i support the New South Wales Blues in the State of Origin. But they have sucked for five years now The Sydney Swans (see Beck's link) As the only NSW team in the VFL/AFL i had no choice here Can't support Victorians. Can't support South or Western Australians. Definitely can't support Queenslanders!!! So Swans it was. 1996 sucked. Luckily i was rather drunk. We finally ended the longest drought in premiership history to beat the druggos West Coast Eagles (again, see teams i hate thread) in 2005. It was a great day ;D I think its very lucky that my beloved is a hardcore Swan. It would be hard if he wasn't In Super 12 i like the Brumbies . Moving here to go to uni meant i could go to a lot of games which was good. Some of my best mates at uni were fans too so that was handy. Watching them win the GF in 2004 was one of the best nights i've ever had. Damn it was cold out there!! Other than that i go for all the NSW teams - Blues in the cricket, Sydney Swifts in the netball etc. And Australia in everything. No matter what.

Newcastle United: My hometown team and also my employer as I work on a matchday as a team leader in one of the kiosks. I've been a fan all my life, well for as long as I've been into football which pretty much is most of my living memory.
New York Giants; Knicks; Rangers; Yankees: I love New York it's where I hope to live one day and so I guess I've adopted it as my "hometown" as far as American sports are concerned and therefore these teams are the one's I support.

Sydney Swans. I've been a member and supported them since the day I was born.
I don't have any other teams, I loosely support Melbourne Storm in the NRL, and I support South Australia in all state competitions.

Seriously? I'm dealing with a Rangers fan? Goodness...what am I going to do when hockey season starts? At least I'm not the only fan on the forum anymore. I guess there's a silver lining.

I don't watch to many sports but: Glasgow Rangers: From Birth, grew up with my parents both supporting Rangers. Green Bay Packers: The first ever game I saw was a Packers game, strangely enough Steven is also a fan we don't really know why. I support the Ravens because living in Baltimore I may get beaten up if I don't

You could always try out supporting Port Adelaide and see how long you live I have decided I am throwing some support behind St George in the NRL because I feel very sorry for Lauren's father having to deal with her and her mother when they play.
