Has anyone else read the books of Darran Shan? They are written as a true story (obviously not though) about a boy who becomes a vampires assistant..half vampire half human and his travels and experiences. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for some good reading. You can buy the books as trilogies. The first trilogy is called Vampire Blood, the second is called Vampire Rites and the third is called Vampire War. There's a fourth and final to come out but it hasn't yet much to my dismay. If you want to read more about the books this is the official site www.darrenshan.com/

You can read the 3 last books seperately. I got impatient waiting for the final 3 to be released as a trilogy and bought them as individual books. I really enjoyed the series, more than I thought I would. Certain things annoyed me, such as the ending of the final book (I won't spoil it ) but mostly it was a really good series. Its a shame the author didn't decide to continue with the character Darren Shan in more books.

Are you sure...
I read the first few books. And they're pretty good. I just never got around to buying the other ones.

The later ones are as good as the first few. My only issue with it is the very ending... but thats cause I like a happy ending.

The series sounds interesting. How many books are there in total?

I think 12? They're separated into trilogies though. I didn't get very far into the series.

I finished them all and own them all, I was disappointed with the ending because I like happy endings and this didn't have one, not really.

I heard they're making a movie for Cirque du Freak. I think it would be a good movie, but hope it's not a flop.

I haven't read it, but would it be an expensive movie to make?
Take Lemony Snicket for instance. The books are popular, but the movie cost $140m to make, and it only grossed $118m.

Hmm... it could be done cheapish but not as good quality I think. Though I do think a lot of movies overdo their budgets and go for a lot of not necessary special effects and such :dunno:

Yeah, I agree with movies spending too much money a lot of the time. And a lot of money goes toward the cast - if you don't cast huge "stars", you save a lot.
