I know Loz is also a fan, but has anyone else here read any of Shakespeare's plays or poetry? Do you have a favourite? I think mine is probably A Comedy of Errors...its my favourite to see performed anyway.

LOL is there anyone who hasn't read or seen Romeo and Juliet? definately NOT one of my favourites. I saw one movie adaption, a black and white one from 1950something. that one was good. Baz Luhrmann's Leo DiCaprio one was okay I guess - but not shakepeare. guns, sheesh. i have to pretend that it isn't a bastardisation of his play in order to enjoy it. same with 10 things I hate About You.

the actress I don't know about, but Juliet is only 13, and Romeo is 14.
I didn't mind the Baz one, but as I said, it was not shakespeare. parts of it irritated me.

Hmm..oh, yeah, I knew that R&J were very young.
I liked the start of Baz Luhrmans one, the newsreaders. Overall, I thought he did a good job. But that's just me. I remember everyone loving the soundtrack.

Ok, I looked it up on Amazon to see what was actually on it, and the only track I recognized was the Radiohead one. Oh there was a V2 as well. Ok, well When Doves Cry.
I was completely in lust with Leonardo D'Caprio when I first saw this movie. I was 8.

I can't even remember what was on the soundtrack...but I remember it being popular at the time.
I went and saw the movie in year 10, they made us. Other school's were there too, in the same cinema. When Leo is in the desert and sits down and screams I cracked up laughing so much. it was hilarious.
How did school ruin shakespeare for you? We only ever looked at Romeo and Juliet. I wish we'd studyed his other work.

well as the only shakespeare I have read or seen being romeo and juliet and macbeth and the fact that we scrutinized both of them so much and also the fact that I completely despise the subject english... well yeah, it leads to hate.

Ahah, I love English. It's probably my favorite subject. That and the historys. I know, I'm lame. Maths and science are not my things.
Some of the teachers (not mine, as she is kinda incompetent) over analyze. The best book we've done is To Kill A Mockingbird. I love that book.

As Beck said i'm a big fan of the William (its actually the first thing Beck and i ever talked about so that makes it extra special... I absolutely love Hamlet and even studying it for my HSC (BIG Year 12 exams for those non Aussies) didn't dim my love. I still remember all the quotes and occassionaly whip them out in those times where i need to look smart I also love Comedy of Errors, King Lear and Much Ado About Nothing and most of the sonnets are awesome. I'm really not a fan of Macbeth (though i might become one if James Marsters ever makes his version as promised ) I hated BL's Romeo and Juliet when i first saw it. I got back from holidays with the parentals and all my friends had seen in and loved it so decided to take me. Towards the end i actually yelled 'Oh would you just bloody kill youselves' at the screen (nb. Most of the people in the cinema laughed and a few even clapped) I wrote a couple of essays on it at uni and started to like it a little more and now well, i own it on DVD. (But it was in the Red Curtin trilogy so it doesn't count as full acceptance i don't think). Oh and in my UC uni yearbook one of the questions is if you could have five people over for dinner dead or alive who would they be? William Shakespeare was my number 2.

There's the one of Othello called 'O' with Julia Stiles and Josh Hartnett that is not bad. The 'Hamlet' with Ethan Hawke is pretty awesome.... theres more but i can't think of them right now. I'll have a muse and get back to ya.
And note: Heath is no longer on the list because he impregnated the stupid American twit Michelle Williams. Its all over between Heath and I!

Leo is in the desert and he's told Juliet has died. he collapses to the ground, looks at the sky, screams and sobs. it is most hilarious. you would agree with me I'm sure.

Yeah I really don't remember that...
But yeah, I probably would find it hilarious. I mean, I'm the one that laughed all the way through The Grudge for god's sake...
