Have any books made you cry? Which ones? What happened? Are they are heart-wrenching and as emotional as what can be seen on screen?

The only book I remember really crying over was "The Outsiders." I remember I finished the book for the first time and just sat there. And then, I just started bawling. The book was so touching, and the end really finished the book nicely. I may have also cried every once in a while in a book with a sad death, but I can't remember any. I think books can be just as sad as television, but I guess I just haven't seen that many sad books. However, I will probably cry after I finish "Night." I hear the end is very depressing .

I cry easily, but not usually with books, I don't think.
Sophie's Choice, The Princess, and Christy are all books that I think have made me cry, but it's been a little while since I've read them. They're just amazingly written.

Oh, books make me cry all the time. Hm... "The Bridge to Terabithia", "New Moon", "The Lost Slayer", & "A Great and Terrible Beauty" are a few that I can think of right now. Not gonna say exactly what happened in case anyone wants to read/is reading those books at the moment. Let's just say I get really involved with the story, so if something really sad happens, I usually cry. 5/50 (I'm gonna mark these in intervals of five, just to keep track. )

O gee... all of them really. lol.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and The Order of the Pheonix. A Great and Terrible beauty, Night come Swiftly, A Walk to Remeber, just alot... more but the titles are avoiding me. Lol, even a few Sweet Valley High books... cause Jessica's boyfriends always die!

I cry really really easily... let's see... "The Outsiders" made me bawl, one of the Harry Potter books... I don't remember which, "Their Eyes Were Watching God", "Memoirs of a Geisha", "The Iliad" , and I'm pretty sure "The Ramayana" did too. I know there were more, but I can't think of them... And I think that generally movies are much sadder than books, but books, when well written, can be absolutely devasting IMO.

Lol, even a few Sweet Valley High books... cause Jessica's boyfriends always die! Angie. They did have a tendency to die (or be crippled or something). Probably to get away from Jessica. She was pretty painful when i look back on those books Not many books have ever made me cry I get upset by true crime ones sometimes but not enough to get the tears flowing

I have never cried while reading a book until I read Solace by Nicci Gerrard. It's basically about a woman named Irene who is a chore-laden wife and mother of 3 children. She is kinda experiencing a mid-life crisis and it's made worse when she finds out her husband is cheating on her. The part where she finds her husband in bed with another woman was the part that made me cried. It was written so well. It was heart wretching and read about Irene's reaction. So sad. This is the only book I've cried when reading.

I cried a little bit with New Moon. Don't forget I'm hormonal people. But Bella went from an obsessive relationship with the "you can't leave me" and "I don't have the strength to stay away from you" to Edward abandoning her in the forest with a "don't worry you'll get over it" and Bella just lying on the ground all night. It was SAD!

See it was Ron going off and screaming "HERMIONE" over and over when she is being tortured that got to me in that book. Killed me.

The Time Traveler's Wife made me tear up, especially the end. The movie did too but not as much as the book did.

Like movies and television, I have no problem crying over events in books. Kind of embarrassing when reading in public. I also just ended up tearing up when reading the buffy comic #33. When something sad happens, I tear up, if it's sad enough, like a death or something connected to it. Or when something heartwrenchingly horrible and heartbreaking happens. Just imagine a movie and what would make you cry because of it and there you have it.
