Split from: BTVS+DeathsThe point where Buffy got serious for me was during When She Was Bad, and we saw that Buffy's vulnerable, and able to be messed up by bad situations. At which point did Buffy get serious for you? When did you realise that it wasn't "just another show" about a cute girl killing vampires. For me, it was "When She Was Bad". Thanks to Glenn for getting sidetracked, and mentioning that Jenny Calendar's death was when the show got serious for him.

I think it was when Buffy killed Angel. She cried and I cried and I knew that I loved the show. it was around about the same time my best 'Guy' friend died and I was needing to feel emotional to let it out.

It helped you get through it hon? thats really neat that it helped you out like that *hugs*
I realised Buffy wasnt just another show when I saw Halloween, That episode Blew me away, and thats the main Reason, Also though in "when she was bad" I felt Buffys pain as she grinded the masters bones at the end, it showed that the events of season one did still effect her.

For me it was innocence/surprise. I felt these eps really showed Buffy's vulnerability and her ability to get through her pain.
It said something to me. Oh yeah, this is a good show that isn't about the monster of the week but real values and morals.

I can't remember if there's a specific scene or episode that told me this is not just a show about a blond chick kicking demons' ass. But I know that it's while watching season 2 when I realised that. Season 2 was one of the best seasons and it was during then when the show blossomed into what it is today in my opinion. It is also showed that it wasn't just a normal chick flick with demons.

Well, considering I watched all the episodes out of order in the beginning, this will be pretty confusing. I believe I began with the 5th season, and it really became serious with "The Gift" and "Bargaining Part One" which both made me cry .

I don't know when it became "serious" for me. I enjoyed it right from the second ep I ever saw "Whats my line" that got me immediately. (thje first ep I saw was Teachers Pet" about 6 months earlier and it didnt grab me at all)

It wasn't one of the first episodes I saw but I seriously doubt it would grab me, I can barely watch the episode!
For me it was 'whats my line' like Beck I'd seen an episode prior to that but I was never home when it aired until I finally caught whats my line and it really hooked me

What's My Line made me realise how vast the world of Buffy could grow. Not quite the serious aspect for me (since as mentioned above, it was When She Was Bad), but it was definitely "pivotal" for my enjoyment.

I don't remember a specific scene or episode when it became "serious" for me. It had me hooked by the end of season 1, but I don't think it was until mid-season 2 when I started sensing the seriouness and specialness of it all.

I'm fairly certain that Joss cites 'Whats my Line' as the first time he realised the strength of the actors and realised that the show could go a really long way
