I'm rewatching S4 at the moment:
The Harsh Light of Day:
- I've always rambled about Spike being a jerk to Harmony but after watching this episode, I really can't blame him. She is annoying. But I did feel bad for her later when he tried to kill her. Now that's scary. Spike, hon, you need to go to an anger management class. Yelling and beating Harmony might be okay, who can blame you. But killing her?
- James' accent is so awful here! I cringed a lot. Was he that bad in S2? I didn't notice at all, but in this ep it's so notable. He does get better later though.
- Spike is HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I think S4 totally agrees with him... looks!wise.
- Is Buffy too dense or something? I understand what it feels like to be fooled by a jerk (been there) but I didn't have the same stupid thoughts. While watching, I reacted the same as Willow, "I think you're missing something about this whole poop head principal." Parker is a poophead, all he said were lines to get into Buffy's pants, and he succeeded. Poor Buffy is so hurt to see that.
- Xander thinks like a stereotype woman, while Anya thinks like a stereotype man. Anya thinks they should have sex, Xander thinks they're rushing things, and they should start a relationship first. Xanya is one cute, fun relationship. Hee! Poor Xander is still effected by his Faith experience, when Anya said she's over him, from his response I got that he already expected it. Poor guy.

Harmony tried to kill Willow so i found Spike staking her rather just and very funny As an Englishman i have only ever found Alexis' accent to be completely believable. James gives it a good go and passes the test i suppose but it still has its flaws ;D (The less said about Juliet's the better though) SIDE NOTE : I have no problem with DB's Irish accent Yes he does look rather good this season lol I found the whole post Parker reaction from Buffy very tedious "bubble Buffy" wtf! Its like she has grown up in a damn bubble. This kind of thing happens everywhere and is very common. Why Buffy refuses to accept that its happened to her is beyond me. All i can say is that i need me an Anya

Spike never respected Harmony. It wasn't until Season 5 of Angel that he actually gave her anything in regards to empathy or understanding, so I have no trouble believing he would have staked her out of irritation.
James accent does border on Australian sometimes but hey, it's not as if I could do a convincing US accent. Hehe and as for Alexis he spent a great deal of time in the UK, he went over when he was 17 so he's got it down. There is a touch of LA in his voice towards the end but Alexis said that was intentional.
Anyway gtg.

I rememebr an episode in S2 with the judge, Spike says "hes just sitting on his ass", I mean cmon, it shouldve been *arse* , . His accent let him down quite a bit. I found the whole post Parker reaction from Buffy very tedious "bubble Buffy" wtf! Its like she has grown up in a damn bubble. This kind of thing happens everywhere and is very common. Why Buffy refuses to accept that its happened to her is beyond me. Just because it happens everywhere and is commen doesnt mean its any easier when it happens to you, its not a case of "ohh its happend to lots of other people, doesnt hurt as bad". but that said I hated her reaction, I felt so sorry for her, She just couldnt accept it, thats why I loved beer bed, was good to see her teach him a lesson Harmony and Spike was hilarious, Im suprised he managed to keep from staking her

Ah I'm going to disagree with Spike's accent touching on Australian at any time. Its not at all imo. I'm not an authority on English accents though, but it seemed fine to me. And Glenn, honestly! DB's Irish accent is WOEFUL. I LOVE the Irish accent and he butchers it. Anyways ON topic since I'm not, I love Harsh Light of Day. I loved Spike's reactions to Harmony and completely sympathised with him, I would have staked her too! I did feel bad for her at the end though. Buffy annoyed me here too. I know Buffy was treated badly but sheesh.

Oh! I just watched this recently (been rewatching quite a bit of season 4 eps ;D). I love this episode and unlike most, I enjoyed the whole Parker storyline. I thought it was needed. Seeing how vulnerable and insecure Buffy was feeling at that point of time, I don't blame her for going on and on about how the whole incident could have happened to her. But then again, I'm a Buffy fan so I might be a wee bit bias in saying this. Harmony, on the other hand, annoyed me to no end. She was funny but seriously! If I was Spike, I would have staked her a long time ago. I still don't understand why he was with her in the first place. The episode was wrapped up nicely with the story on Anya and Xander. Anya was hilarious and Xander's face was priceless when Anya just dropped her clothes in front of him. Overall, I quite like this episode a lot. It's one of my favourites in season 4. One I don't mind watching over and over again.

It's been a while since I've seen this one, so will refrain from commenting on the accent thing. The Buffy needs to get the hell over Parker thing. Um, yeah. She's in a bad way... but like you said Sosa Lola, you've been there. I've been there. We've all been there- and it sucks, but we all deal differently... I was much more like Buffy--- way more whiney and mopey for much longer, very unpleasant---- but I don't mind seeing her like that for a while. I like to be able to understand the characters, I guess I relate when people are screwed over in love!!! Yeeeessss. Spikey. Needs to be nicer to Harmony, cruel to be kind, all that. But she figures it out, more or less- I wish she didn't fall for his charms in season five Angel when he gets all corporeal, but Angel himself is proof that vamps are slow learners, so... I also love this episode because it is part one of a crossover with Angel and it's always nice in my opinion when the shows cross over more subtley- ie, Buffy and Angel don't visit one another, but some other contact between LA and Sunnydale is established. I can just imagine the resignation Xander must feel, post coital. Anya gets up, 'over him' and he just can feel... 'so this is it. this is the way it plays out for me'. At least she didn't strangle him!!!!

I love the episode. As for the way Spike treated Harmony, it was hilarious. She really got on his nerves - a lot. I don't think anyone can really be too surprised at Spike's actions in the episode, I mean, it's not like he had a soul at that point! And as for the accent thing, I'd noticed James Marsters slipping up a few times over his stint. I just like to chalk that up to the fact that Spike's travelled around the world lots over the years, and his accent's just gotten a little mixed over time.

I think you misunderstood me probably because i didnt type it down great. I didnt mean she shouldnt feel hurt by it or that she should get over it really fast. What i meant was that she was refusing to see it as what it was, making excuses for him about having intimacy issues because of the death of his father and talking about being in his special bubble. That is what annoyed me, not that she was hurt by it all

She was just trying to comfort herself and trying to reassure herself that she just didn't get screwed over. Metaphorically speaking of course.

This episode was alright. I didn't like how Buffy started losing to Spike, as soon as she realized he was invincible. The same thing happened with her and the Turak Hon in Bring on the Night. It's understandable that she loses hope, but why can't she continue fighting well until she has a chance to escape/do something (like when she pulled of the ring on Spike)?
