I heart 30 Seconds To Mars *hides*
Taking Back Sunday have been my favourite for a few years. I guess I'm totally angst ridden.
Uhhmmm, some stuff I like was mentioned... The Used, Emery etc. I'll just do a random itunes look-up and see what appears.
+44, Angels and Airwaves, Alexisonfire, Armor For Sleep, As Tall As Lions, Atreyu, At The Drive In, The Cliks, Dashboard Confessional, Deathcab, The Distillers, The Killers, Motion City Soundtrack, Muse, Ramallah, Rilo Kiley, Rise Against, Rufio, Silverstein, Snow Patrol, Sparta, Sugacult, Thrice, Thursday.
Uhhh yeah, so thats some of what I like. I guess it's cause I'm different and strive for a little extra out of my music.

Why would you hide at saying that? I love 30 Seconds to Mars. And Your own disaster is one of my all time favourite songs. And i am in no way angst ridden

Yeah another Emery fan! Usually no one knows who i'm talking about lol. Yes, 30 Seconds to Mars is an amazing band. Unfortunately, my favorite song by them, "Revolution", hasn't hit the radio yet. I'm actually just now getting into Alexisonfire actually. And Atreyu is pretty good.

R-Evolve is such a sweet song.
I hid because they feel so mainstream to me at the moment. From Yesterday is all over C4 and the radio and I kinda hate it. It's the fastest way to kill music.
Yeah and Emery are sweet, they remind me of a much less known Taking Back Sunday with their vocals.

Yeah i used to like 'From Yesterday' but it's so overplayed now i don't wanna hear it anymore lol. I love 'The Kill' though even when it was overplayed.
I don't know. I always thought Emery had its own unique sound.

I find it funny when people comment they hate a song because its overplayed, no offense to anyone. Turn off the radio! I don't care how popular or mainstream music is, I like it if its good. If I have heard a song too many times on radio, I switch to another station of turn it off. You can't have a good song ruined, unless you personally choose to listen to it too much

I agree with Beck. I like music because it's good. I mean my favorite band is The Beatles and they're like the most popular band in the world, well were anyway. Who cares if a song is mainstream, and wouldn't you want your favorite music to be popular so more people could hear it? I try to tell as many people as possible about bands that I love so their music is heard.

I guess that's true. It just sucks when you hear people taking the piss out of your favourite song or singing it off tune because its mainstream.

*is guilty of hating mainstream music, and has changed the station/turned off the radio if the songs came on* I don't hate all of it, but songs that my friends sing ALL THE TIME...Well they don't have a change or off button.

If i love a band thats not very well known then i do my best to make it more known I love that 30 Seconds to Mars have become more popular and successful and if you asked them they would definitely concur. Actually Jared said as much at the Sydney concert of theirs i went to. And if someone is singing a sing you like (off key and out of tune or whatever) that usually means they like it too. Where's the bad in that? I have to say i don't understand the mentality of people who want to keep things like bands and TV shows and movies that they love a 'secret' because they feel like they are in some kind of secret club and belong. If people don't hear the music they don't make more. If people don't watch a TV show it gets canceled. If people don't watch a movie then some of the people involved aren't likely to get more jobs for awhile. I think if you love something then get it out there. Its awesome when someone else loves the song i've been raving about, or someone says Firefly or The West Wing is now their favourite show.

I realised that most of the bands I listen to and enjoy are British bands. I now am a fan of Kasabian, Starsailor and been a long time fan of Travis and Stereophonics. Those already in my favourite band list include Coldplay, Keane, Snow Patrol and Arctic Monkeys All of them are British bands. I don't know why but the sound of British bands are so much more appealing that non British bands.

I guess i agree with you guys. If a song is played over and over and over again then it gets boring for me even if i like it a lot. That doesn't mean i hate it. After awhile, i'd probably start listening to it again. And i do agree about how popular 30 Seconds to Mars has become. I think it's great for everyone to be able to hear about them. So i guess overplayed songs aren't a bad thing because it's giving support to awesome bands.

I'm adding Pink Floyd. Just started to really listen to all of their music in the past year or so. I've been missing out!
Any newer members or anyone have a band they'd like to add?

Let's see, it's originally a long list, so I'll just shorten it up for you guys: 1. System of a Down (My favorite. They are so original. I have never heard any other band that is remotely similar. And awesome bass!) 2. Nirvana (Kurt's a brill song writer) 3. Metallica (Awesome band. Also, incredible song writers( 4. Black Sabbath (Ozzy's voice is so piercing and the music is spectacular) 5. Led Zeppelin (Just an all around great band) Just refound this... Bre no Beatles?

Of all time? I'm only 17, I don't know. But right now? The Shins The White Stripes Bright Eyes (his lyrics are so poetic) The Used The Killers The Beatles The Doors Death Cab for Cutie I don't really have reasons. I suppose it's music that speaks to me and uh...yeah. I'm going to change this a little bit. Take out The Killers and The Doors, add in My Chemical Romance, The Hush Sound and...Phantom Planet. Hahah. My favorite bands are constantly changing. I've been listening to Ok Go, Aqualung, Something Corportate, Belle & Sebastian and The Fray a lot recently. Oh dear, 18 year old Liz Ahh, embarrassing teenage music choices Bands I listen to the most as of June 2010 (age 22): - The Beatles - Elton John - Simon & Garfunkel - Lady Gaga - Colbie Caillat - Taylor Swift

My parents used to listen to them, so I always knew their songs, but I didn't ever really listen to them 'til about '06. I'm taking SOAD totally off that list. I got very sick of them. Nirvana is not in my top 5, neither is Metallica. Sabbath mehh .. no. Zeppelin still is though. My tastes haven't changed as much as I've gotten sick of these bands.
