Who are some of your favourite book characters? Best villains, best heroes?

Is this the path I chose, or the one chosen for me?

I often like wizard characters so I'll say Gandalf of course, Fizban (Dragonlance) the evil wizard from Stephan King's books (referred to I believe as "The man in black" but may have had a name in Eyes of the Dragon) and to round it out Nakor from the Raymond E. Feist books (the guy with the "magic bag of oranges")

My favourite characters would be a toss up between Gaia Moore and Ed Fargo from the Fearless series. ;D
Can't think of a favourite villian at the moment...

haven't read harry potter or LOTR so I guess I can't count them....? So I would have to say Tory, from Traci Harding's The Ancient Future series. The saga is a bit farfetched but that's why it's fantasy! And Phaedra, from Jaqueline Carey's Kushiel series.
As for a villain.....hmmm

Dumbledore, Vicky Austin (the main protagonist of the Austin family series by Madeline L'Engle) - except when she was played by Mischa Barton in the movie.

I don't know if any of you have heard of it, but there's a character I like in The Mortal Instruments series, named Jace. He's so, I don't know, awesome? Haha.
