I'd enter, but I never win anything. Especially Jossverse competitions. I've signed up for so many things and never see a prize.

I bookmarked it at home, and will no doubt enter. I'll just have to make sure it's not for US residents only.

Do you think I should make a seperate thread for it in case not everyone reads this? I want to make sure everyone who wants to enter gets a chance too Allan- it didn't say anything about where you live, but it did say 18 years or older and submitted by March 14th.

I entered. I figured--why not? I likely won't get anything from it, but...chances are only higher if you actually enter, right? Allan, you'll have to check the registration form to make sure it's set up for non-USA residents. From what I remember it didn't offer a "country" field--simply city and state. However, that doesn't mean I'm not wrong. ;D I'm really looking forward to the comic--can't wait for it to hit shelves, although I think my dad asked his friend at the comic/game shop to save one for him so I don't have to worry about them selling out or something. The more I read about it the more excited I get. I think it's gonna be a great comic!

Yeah, I'll definitely confirm whether I am able to enter first.
I have my copies reserved for the series, and Blake who runs my local comic shop has a few orders from non-comic readers already.

Thought I'd let you know that I read the first issue of season 8 tonight. You guys are all going to freaking love it. Once it's officially released, we can put what happens behind some spoiler tags, in case any of you can't get your hands on a copy, what with the shipping delay on all the preordered copies.

Spoiler tags are unnecessary, just make sure you post about what happens in the appropriate thread, if people haven't read it they can avoid that thread. Spoiler tags in every post would just get annoying

True true. When do you guys get them though? I don't want to post anything until you've read it and I know it comes out on wednesday here, but it seems like you guys aren't getting it till Friday?

Yeah I think Friday, but if you have already read it you can post your thoughts in that thread now, its for discussion on the first comic, those that haven't read it can just stay out of there until they have read it. You don't have to wait

Yeah, Friday here in Canberra, so it should be the same in Melbourne (though, Minotaur tends to get theirs later, because they order so much an go over the weight limit, causing delays).

I just took this from the wikipedia page about Buffy season 8 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer_season_eightBuffy the Vampire Slayer is a series of comics based upon the television series of the same name, set to serve as a canonical season eight.[1] It is to be produced by Joss Whedon who will write the first arc, The Long Way Home.[2] The first issue was released on March 14, 2007.[3] The series was originally supposed to consist of about 25 issues, but Whedon said in an interview that he thinks there will be "well over 30" issues.[4] In addition to the fact that the story takes place "at least a year and a half" after the events of "Chosen",[6] placing it at its earliest in the latter half of 2004 and after the events of "Not Fade Away", the following facts have been revealed: Buffy leads five hundred Slayers separated into ten squads, all of which are viewed by the U.S. government as terrorist cells in the wake of Sunnydale's destruction. For Buffy's protection, two Slayer lookalikes are in place - one in Italy, one literally underground. Buffy is not dating The Immortal as "The Girl in Question" had stated. This is in fact a ruse set up by Andrew Wells using lookalikes, and partially as a prank on Angel and Spike. Xander leads "central command" which is in Scotland. Dawn experiences "growing pains" of "ginormic [sic] proportions" as a byproduct of losing her virginity. Whedon also makes mention of a "Giant Dawn".[4] Anya will definitely reappear although she will not be resurrected. Whedon describes it as being "all about Anya"[7] with a possibility of an appearance by bunnies. Amy Madison is set to return in issue #2.[8] Whedon plans for all the popular characters to return,[4] although the cast will be slowly introduced as it makes sense to do so. The season's Big Bad is set to be a returning cast member. Angel and Spike will definitely be featured,[4] but only sparingly. Faith will appear in the second arc, written by Brian K. Vaughan. Riley Finn and his wife may show up but nothing is set right now as the writers of the comic are going to start with the core characters.[9] The demons will apparently "look cooler" without budgetary restraints, but "not as cool as Skip".[7] New characters include vampire Slayers Leah, Rowena and Satsu.

It doesn't go into too much detail, really... Wizard magazine had an interesting article, with comments from a couple of the writers (as well as Joss), which I'll scan in at some point. EDIT - They're reprinting #1 with a "variant" cover - ie to sell it to completists who will buy the same product a second time, all because of a new cover. From Newsarama:

From the #1 thread: I'm actually a little afraid of Angel and Spike showing up. I mean, they aren't what Buffy's story is about anymore. But I think Joss feels roped into using them by a fandom that loves those boys. I mean, don't get me wrong, I want to see it as much as the next shippy fangirl. But I wish it wasn't needed, you know? I doubt they'll be playing a major role in season 8, in part because of licensing issues with IDW, and Joss would realise that Buffy moved past Angel when he got his spin-off, and now Spike is just as entrenched in Angel's world. Buffy's stronger than those characters, and I don't see Joss selling that out. That said, they do still have ties to Buffy, and I don't have a problem with it being acknowledged.

Yeah, I read Joss say that it was difficult to do a crossover, but he didn't say it was out of the question. He also hinted that they were in talks to do a season six of Angel that should coincide with the new Buffy comic. But he promises there will be no Buffy Civil War For those of you who are up to date on your comic book mayhem.

It's good to know that Buffy's not going to lead the charge against a supernatural registration act and the Government, only to wuss out, give up in the midst of battle and get assassinated out the front of a courthouse! Joss hinted that there would be smallish Spike and Angel appearances, and both companies were willing to play ball in regard to it. I'd really like to see Angel season 6 done, too (though I'd imagine we'd have to wait until Buffy season 8's done).

What worries me is that Angel Season 6's art and story won't be as good. I mean, if Joss agrees to write it, GREAT! But because it's owned by a different company, I don't know. And I have NOT been impressed with the Angel comics they've had up until now. Mind you, I haven't read Auld Lang Syne yet, but Curse and Old Friends...just weren't that good. I do hear Spike Asylum is good though. If they could get the writers of that to do an Angel season 6 I'd be alright with it.
