This thread obviously came from Beck's asking whether or not such a thread existed when posting in the Season 1. I looked and didn't see one. If I was wrong you may chastise and flog me. What plot holes have you found in the show? Do you consider characters or stories that get a start in one episode and then are never seen again a plot hole or simply a glimpse of hte rest of the Buffyverse? After all, no TV show could show you the entire 'verse all the time. Which season do you think has the most plot holes? Is that opinion related to an overall story arc, a character's arc, or just having too many questions left unanswered?

One plot hole that bugged me the most was The First. In season 3, it was able to touch people but in season 7, it couldn't! That annoyed me a lot!
Other plot holes that I can remember at the moment was the ages of Spike and Angel. It seem to vary from episode to episode.
And I'm pretty sure Anya met Angel before season 4's Pangs but in that episode, when she first sees him, she acted as if it was the first time they met. But what about in Season 3? Surely they met then.

I didn't even remember that about The First, but you're right. That was something avoidable, too, becase they could have gone back to the Season 3 film and checked! Although, I can't remember so you'll have to help me out, does it state in Season 7 that it can't touch people, or is it simply never shown doing so. It's been a loooong time since I've watched that season, so a lot of the details are failing me right now, unfortunately.
The ages and birthdates of several characters have been argued. I know that Buffy's birthdate is shown as two different dates during different times in the series. Again, that's something that could be avoided if they kept a stats sheet of each character.
I'm rewatching Season 3 right now, but haven't been "introduced" to Anya yet. I don't remember her being introduced to Angel officially on screen and it is possible that they would never have met. I'll keep my eyes out, though, and get back to you.

Yeah, it was mentioned quite a few times that The First couldn't touch as it was in incorporal form. The First as Warren mentions it when he was asking Andrew to do its business for him. And then there was the ep (The Killer in Me) where everyone thought Giles was The First: ANDREW (about The First) Actually that's not true. The First can't take corporeal form, so it can't touch anything. ANYA Oh, it's not like Giles hasn't touched anything, right? (thinks, looks expectantly at everyone else) Ha-has anyone seen Giles touch anything since he got back? Hold anything? Has anybody hugged him? Think very hard. And then... ANYA We thought you might be non-corporeal evil. DAWN We got a call. We couldn't remember you touching anything. XANDER We had to make sure you were OK. We were worried. GILES Oh. That's very sweet. Now wait a minute—you think I'm evil... if I bring a group of girls on a camping trip and don't touch them? I don't remember on top of my head which ep they met but I'm pretty sure they did - or at least seen each other. Like at the prom or during graduation when they were all fighting together.

Thanks, Irene, for clearing that up for me. I don't know how I could have forgotten that! Maybe I can blame it on the time and the fact that I should head for bed? I'll be sure to keep an eye out in the next few episodes and let you know if it qualifies for plot hole status or not. :-)

In season 7, the ubervamp is submerging Spike's head in water. Spike doesn't have to breathe, why is he struggling with his head under the water?!

I wondered that, too ... Maybe it was just really uncomfortable?

It could have been uncomfortable. Maybe he was trying to struggle with the ubervamp and his head was just part of that struggle? I'd have to rewatch the scene to see how it actually looks on screen. Also, Spike may be a vampire, but James Marsters isn't. Perhaps it was his natural reaction when the scene was first shot and they figured it would be anyone's natural reaction--living or undead--and kept it? I'm obviously trying to fanwank that one. I have no good answer.

Well, Dru faints when Spike chokes her in Becoming Part 2, which shouldn't happen. So it's not a uncommon mistake the writers have made.

Not exactly a plot hole, just annoying writing. Watched Amends last night and one thing that bugged me throughout (besides The First touching people) is how almost ever character complains about how hot the weather is but what are they wearing? Long-sleeve tops and jackets. If it's hot, why are you wearing a winter jacket?!

I've been rewatching season 7 and I realised that the whole The First can't touch people but do does happen in Season 7 as well, very noticeable during the first few episodes.
