I'm 99% sure there was a topic for this already but I couldnt find it, if there is feel free to point me to it!. Today I was watching tv and Ricki Lake came on, it was a whole story about people cheating on there friends blah blah, but it was so...ridiculous, it was like "Well ive got a suprise for you, Ive been sleeping with your man to", then they all burst into histerics. ANyway, not saying I cant watch chat shows and laugh, but people have REAL roblems, Is Ricki Lake all about making good tv, making a comedy programme?. I have seen other talk shows, That i enjoy watching they actually try to help, they offer after support after the show ends, Real or Fake, it still pisses me off that people can go on a show, and have so little respect for themselves. It also pissed me off when a woman said "When my aunt realised she was guy" and Ricki interupted her and said "you dont *realise* your gay, your just born Gay" I thought it was so patronising, who is she to decide weather a person is born gay or not grrr, I dont know if her names even Ricki lake, im just guessing it is . I really Hate Ricki Lake, I dont find laughing at peoples problems, and peoples backstabbing there friends/loved ones soul soothing, or entertaining :/ What do you guys think of chat shows? do you watch them? do you like them?, what ones do you watch?

I think it's completely stupid to go on those sorts of shows if you actually have serious problems. They're not qualified psychologists, they're TV presenters! I think the people who go on are probably just desperate to get on TV. Which is really quite sad, and totally embarrassing.
I do like watching Oprah, Tyra Banks, Maury (except for the 'who's my baby daddy!' and my teen's gone wild!' episodes.) Ellen....they're all good fun.

I cant stand Tyra Banks. She looks down on parents who have struggled to raise a child yet she has not had to do it herself. The only person i can watch is Jeremy Kyle. He tells the people exactly what he thinks, not sparing feelings or siding with one particular sex like Trisha Guy : My wifes been cheating on me. Trisha : You must have drove her to it somehow

I only really watch Tyra when she's talking about Top Model. She doesn't sound all that lovely though... Trisha was on Play School in Australia.

Jerry Springer is hilarious. I struggle to believe people are that insane. But its still fabulously trashy and funny. Dr Phil actually is a qualified shrink too. Um... Oprah I've only seen bits of, same with Dr Phil and I haven't seen any others in that genre (the only chat shows I watch are like Rove Live, and the occasional Letterman or Jay Leno show if they happen to be on)

I'm not a fan of any of them (and don't get me started on Oprah), but Jerry's amusing

Jeremy Kyle is the man! he's not afraid to just get in there and make people face their problems and they atleast have qualified people to help then afterwards. I only used to watch Jerry Springer for the fights and weird stories Chat shows are ok, Jay Lenno is good so is Jonathan Ross

Jay Leno's great. I've never heard of Jonathan Ross. As far as chat shows are concerned, I really hate Conan O'Brien. I'll watch it occasionally if I want to see a particular guest, but otherwise Leno's the far better of the two.
I've never heard of Jeremy Kyle, either...

I can't stand Jay Leno - David Letterman all the way! He cracks me up. Latel ate Night with Conan O'Brien is my absolute favorite though. Or Craig Fergeson (sp?). They're both really funny too. I don't like talk shows that are all about "who's my baby's father!?" or anything similar. That's why I stopped watching Maury - those are the only episodes that were ever on. I like Tyra Banks, but I don't like her show. Except, like Liz, if it's about ANTM. I can't stand Oprah either. I love Ellen. She always makes the episodes fun and I love her dancing at the begining of every episode.

I don't mind Ellen, but I can't say that I've managed to see her show.

I love Leno! Love Conan more though...I think Letterman is totally boring and unfunny.

Latel ate Night with Conan O'Brien is my absolute favorite though. Or Craig Fergeson (sp?). They're both really funny too. I watched some of those shows in the states and Loved them, especially Craig ferguson! I like Jeremy Kyle, its true he tells them the truth, and he is actually pretty understanding, he doesnt let one person be attacked, he wont jump on the band wagon, he gives credit where credit is due, as a chat show host I would suck! i also love Jonathon Ross, but I love him No matter what he is in, that guy has a great sense of humour!

I watch Oprah sometimes, I like Ellen, I used to like Ricki Lake but now it's gross. Jerry is funny when you want to laugh at stupid people.

I've watched Ellen before and don't mind it, but I usually don't watch it. I love Rachael Ray's morning talk show. I absolutely adore her. There's a new morning talk show on FOX that I've seen a couple times and looks like it will be a good one to keep watching on mornings when I don't work. Other than that, I don't watch talk shows. I usually can't stand all the drama that seems to follow them.

I can't stand Rachel Ray. If I'm thinking of the right person, she has a really annoying voice and is really loud. The celebs look annoyed when they're on the show too, sometimes.

Do people prefer the daytime ones (Oprah, etc) or the late night ones (Leno)?

I really like Ellen and...Ellen. That's pretty much it. A lot of other talk shows on nowadays are about "He's not my baby's daddy!" Kinda, um...how do you put it? Pointless. If you want a whatever you call it (I really can't think of the word right now but it's when you find out who a baby's real parents are) test, fine. No need to broadcast the results on national television.
