I'm going to be entering a poetry magazine contest, and I needed help on which poem to submit. So, can you please either tell me which one you like best, or tel me my poetry sucks and to get a life .
First:
On these lonely nights
When no one is around,
Nothing seems right,
And there is not even a sound.
My life is paused,
And I long for someone beside me
To tell me how this was caused
And how to flee.
But as I sit here with no one around,
I realize I could never see,
Because my faith was not found.
The truth is there was always someone watching over me.
Second:
The young dog hides
From the child who stands nearby.
Fear is deep in the dog's eyes, but
The child is scared too and he feels he will die.
Neither animal nor human understand
The connection that they share,
Because both their fears come from man
And the fact that no one cares.
They both have been mistreated
And they both hide behind metal bars.
They feel so alone in this life they lead,
And they will never understand how similar they really are.
Third:
You march through the stricken land
With so many people beside you in the fight.
Everyone says that armies last forever,
And as you face this war you pray that is true.
People fall, people leave, and people are lost,
And as you trudge through the barren land,
You finally understand how these facts are lies.
Loss is part of war, and the only thing you can do is change your strategy.
But as you adapt to the people who leave,
You find yourself hard with nothing to lose.
Will you be alone? You will. You will be alone in this war.
This war that we call life.
Sorry about all the reading, and the last one is very morbid, I know.
