TEASER
~HOUSE~ ~Morning~Tabitha stood at the front door with her hands on her hips. A scowl masked her beautiful face. TABITHA: Come on, guys! We are going to be late! Andrew walked past Tabitha as he moved from the living room to the kitchen. ANDREW: Nothing will happen if we are late, Tabby. Pike’s not going to get any sicker. Asta shuffled down from the stairs, rubbing her eyes. She squinted at Tabitha. ASTA: What’s going on? Xander brushed past Asta as he bounded down the stairs. XANDER: We are going to pick up Pike at the hospital. He’s being discharged today. TABITHA: Are you coming? If you are, you can brush your teeth in the car. ASTA: Why would I want to do that? TABITHA: Cause we are late! Andrew! ANDREW: One moment. I need my bagel! TABITHA: Xander, can you drag Andrew out here? Xander, who was putting on his jacket, rolled his eyes and headed into the kitchen. A moment later, Xander came out with Andrew in tow. The young Watcher had a bagel stuffed into his mouth. TABITHA: Go eat in the car, Andrew. Andrew nodded and slipped out of the front door. XANDER: You coming, Asta? We can wait. TABITHA: No we can’t! (pause) Ok, fine. But only for a minute. Asta looked at Xander before turning round and going back up the stairs. Xander frowned and traded confused looks with Tabitha. XANDER: Was it something I said? ######################################### ~ALLEY~Sebastian Gold leaned against the grimy wall of the alley as he waited nervously. For the tenth time that day, he checked his watch. He looked at both ends of the alley but it remained deserted. SEBASTIAN: Come on. Where are you? VOICE: You Sebastian? Sebastian jumped when he heard the low voice. He blinked in surprise when he saw a figure standing a few meters from his right. The figure was short and was dressed in a dark trench coat and wore a bright red cap which covered his face. SEBASTIAN: Are you Slick? SLICK: Yup. SEBASTIAN: Then I’m Sebastian. SLICK: Good. Let’s get this over and done with. I have a business to run. Sebastian approached the figure as he reached into his pocket. SEBASTIAN: I’ve never done this before. Will this work? SLICK: Of course. I don’t sell stuff that doesn’t work. SEBASTIAN: Ok. Good. SLICK: Who is it for? SEBASTIAN: (smiling) It’s for a girl. ACT 1
~HOUSE~ ~Asta’s bedroom~
Asta opened the top drawer of her dresser and took out a stake and her pocketknife. She slipped the two weapons into the pockets of her jeans and exited her room.
Once she was at the front door, she grabbed her coat and yanked the door open. She paused when she saw David in front of her, a set of keys dangling from his hands. Behind him was a truck with three men in uniform bustling around it.
ASTA: David.
DAVID: Asta! What are you doing here?
ASTA: I live here.
DAVID: Why aren’t you at the hospital picking Pike up?
ASTA: Tabitha, Andrew and Xander went. I think three people are enough to drive a grown man home.
DAVID: Right. Of course.
ASTA: Tabitha’s not here.
DAVID: I know and it’s a good thing too.
ASTA: How is that?
David didn’t reply. Instead, he spun around and starting yelling at the three men in uniform.
DAVID: Guys, start bringing in the flowers!
ASTA: Flowers?
David pushed past Asta and led the three men, armed with a handful of roses of different colours, into the living room. Asta followed behind in curiosity.
ASTA: David, what’s going on?
DAVID: These flowers are for Tabitha.
ASTA: That’s a lot of flowers.
After directing one of the men on where to put some of the bouquet, David turned to Asta and beamed.
DAVID: Of course. I’m proposing to her!
ASTA: Really? Wow! That’s great, David.
DAVID: Yup. Now, I only have fifteen minutes at the most to do this right so you have to help me. Pike said that he would call as soon as they are near the house as a warning.
ASTA: Whoa. Pike? He helped you with this?
DAVID: Yup. Let me take that.
He took a bouquet of yellow roses from the uniform men and placed it on top of the fireplace with two other bouquets.
ASTA: Pike helped you? I thought you both hated each other.
DAVID: We settled our differences – for now.
ASTA: I don’t know what to say…
DAVID: Pike and I agree on one thing – what makes Tabitha happy. Which is me. And so we agreed that it’s best to make this happiness permanent.
ASTA: Wow. (pause) I still don’t know what to say.
DAVID: Don’t say anything. Help me fill this place with the roses.
Asta took one of the bouquets and set it down on the coffee table. She fingered the dark red petals as she admired the flowers.
ASTA: How many flowers did you get her anyway?
DAVID: I wanted to get a thousand but I realized that her living room is a bit too small. So I settled on a hundred instead.
ASTA: How can you afford this, David?
DAVID: Here’s where having a bar business comes in handy. Can you pass me that?
Asta passed him a bouquet of white roses and watched as he arranged it on the couch.
ASTA: So what’s the plan?
David took a step back and surveyed the living room. Slowly but surely, the room looked less like a room and more like a rose garden.
DAVID: Well, I stand in the midst of all these roses and wait for Tabitha to come home. Then I’ll get down on one knee and propose.
ASTA: That’s it?
David’s expression grew worried.
DAVID: Why? You think I should do something more?
ASTA: Well, yeah! Where’s the romantic candlelight dinner and the walk along the beach?
David chuckled.
DAVID: Asta, this is Tabitha we are talking about here. With her work at the law firm and her unscheduled disappearance in the middle of dinner, this is the best I can do without her running off in the middle. This makes sure that I will get to propose to her without something interrupting us and dragging my girl away.
ASTA: Well, in that case. I think this is perfect. I would be the happiest girl in the world if I was Tabitha.
DAVID: Good.
He started ushering the men out.
DAVID: Thanks, fellows. I’ll talk it from here.
A moment later, the front door closed and David returned to the living room. Asta had a stalk of white rose in her hands and was inhaling its scent.
DAVID: Smells good doesn’t it?
ASTA: It does.
Asta replaced the rose back into its bouquet and took a look around.
ASTA: And the place looks good too.
DAVID: Not just yet. I need to make sure every single area is covered.
Asta helped David with the task. They worked in silence for a few minutes before David spoke up.
DAVID: So…you dating anyone?
ASTA: What? No. I…have no time.
DAVID: No time or are the men in Hades Valley below your standards?
Asta laughed.
ASTA: No. The men here are hot. I mean, look at you!
DAVID: (grinning) True.
ASTA: And there’s also this guy that I met some time ago but…I don’t think anything will happen.
DAVID: Why not?
ASTA: Let’s just say I’m keeping my options open.
DAVID: (grinned) That just means that you have someone else in mind, Asta.
Asta shook her head as she picked up a red bouquet and placed it next a wall beside the couch. ASTA: Maybe not anymore.
#########################################
Sebastian closed the door of the bathroom door softly behind him and locked it. He pressed his right ear against the door and once he made sure that no one was coming towards it, he started clearing a room for himself and then switched off the lights.
He sat in the middle of the bathroom and pulled out a small package. Unwrapping it, he tugged two tall candles – one black and one red – free. That and a small matchbox were the only things in the wrapper. Frowning, he studied the candles. It didn’t look mystical or out of the ordinary. Just normal candles.
SEBASTIAN: I hope I didn’t get ripped off.
The matchbox, however, didn’t look like your usual matchbox. It was painted black with red words on it – words that Sebastian couldn’t make out. It seemed to be written in a different language he wasn’t familiar with.
He set the two candles down in front of him and took out a match. He checked the wrapping again to see if there was anything in it that he missed. There wasn’t.
SEBASTIAN: Great. No instructions. How am I suppose to work this thing?
He fiddled with the match, staring at the candles. The most logical step was to light the candles but then what? Sebastian scratched his head as he wondered whether that small man gave him any other instructions. He gave up when he couldn’t remember anything specific.
SEBASTIAN: Whatever.
He struck the match and set the wick of the candles alight. Thick red and black smoke started billowing from the candles as soon as it was set alight. Sebastian broke into a fit of coughs as he waved the smoke away from his face.
SEBASTIAN: Erm…make Asta go out with me? No! Make Asta fall in love with me! Sebastian. Make Asta fall in love with Sebastian!
The smoke started to dissipate. And when all the smoke was gone, Sebastian saw that the candles were gone too.
SEBASTIAN: Ah crap!
Sebastian stood up and kicked at the wrapper and the matchbox in frustration. A moment later, he stalked out of the bathroom.
The discarded matchbox that was lying on the floor of the bathroom started to shake and shudder. Red and black smoke started to fill the bathroom and swirl around the matchbox.
Then the red writings on the box glowed and started to swim on it. Slowly, the foreign writings started forming words, words in English. As the random words took shape, it can be clearly seen that the words weren’t just random words – but names. All sorts of names, in different languages, from different cities and countries.
Some of the names included Asta, Xander, Andrew and Tabitha.
#########################################
PIKE: It’s me. We are near. (pause) Ok.
Pike slapped his cellphone shut and pocketed it. Tabitha cast a curious glance at her brother who was sitting beside her in front of the car.
TABITHA: Who was that?
PIKE: What? Oh. Nobody.
TABITHA: You were talking to nobody?
PIKE: Yup. Drive slow ok?
TABITHA: Why?
PIKE: Cause…it’s making me sick. Yeah. I’m feeling sick.
TABITHA: Ok.
She stepped off the gas and the car slowed down considerably.
TABITHA: So I was thinking, Oliver, that you should lay off slaying for awhile. Xander, Andrew and I will pick the slack. With Asta of course.
Xander, who was in the back with Andrew, nodded.
XANDER: I got no problems with that.
TABITHA: Great. Oliver, what do you think?
Pike was looking out of the window, chewing his lower lip thoughtfully.
TABITHA: I know what you’re thinking, Ollie, but I’m doing this for your own good. We have some leads regarding Asta’s dreams – or we think we have – so you can help us out in the research department. That way you’re not completely out of the loop.
Pike remained silent and Tabitha rolled her eyes good-naturedly.
TABITHA: So the silent treatment begins. You know, Oliver, maybe you should listen to me once in awhile. It would have prevented you from ending up in the hospital. Ever think about that? I’m not saying all these things to you to see you suffer. I’m doing this for your own good.
Andrew leaned forward and placed a hand on her shoulder.
ANDREW: Tabby, I think Pike has been through a lot. Let’s just let him have his peace then we’ll nag him.
Xander frowned at the man beside him. Andrew caught him looking.
ANDREW: What?
XANDER: Nothing…it’s just that I never heard you say anything like that before.
ANDREW: Like what?
Xander shook his head.
XANDER: Nothing.
Andrew gave Tabitha a comforting squeeze before leaning back into his seat. Tabitha smiled gratefully at him through the rearview mirror.
PIKE: We’re here.
TABITHA: Great observation. And I thought you weren’t speaking.
Pike looked at Tabitha blankly as the car pulled to a stop in the driveway.
PIKE: What are you talking about?
TABITHA: Never mind.
The four of them got out of the car and made their way towards the front door. Suddenly, Pike stopped in mid-step, causing Andrew and Xander to stop abruptly. He turned to his sister.
PIKE: Before we go in, I just want to say that…that I’ll try my best.
TABITHA: Thank you, Oliver. That’s all I want.
PIKE: I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I think it’s unfair for me to dislike him when I don’t even know him.
Tabitha looked confused.
TABITHA: Ok, we are not talking about the same things here, are we?
PIKE: Er…no. I don’t think we are.
TABITHA: What’s going on?
PIKE: I just wanna say that I’ll try. Whenever you are happy, I’m happy. So I’ll try.
TABITHA: Ok, Oliver, you’re creeping me out here. What’s going on?
Pike just smiled. He nodded towards the house.
PIKE: Let’s go in.
Pike went ahead and entered the house while Tabitha looked on, perplexed.
Xander chuckled as he headed towards the house.
XANDER: It’s your brother, Tabby.
Andrew took Tabitha’s hand and pulled her towards the house.
ANDREW: Come on. We’ll go in and have a nice lunch.
He opened the door and the two of them entered the hallway. They caught sight of Xander going into the living room. Pike, on the hand, was leaning against the wall that was beside living room. He blinked when he saw Andrew holding Tabitha’s hand.
The two of them made their way towards the living room.
ANDREW: Then we’ll go out.
Andrew and Tabitha froze when they entered the living room. The whole place was covered with roses of all colours. Not an inch of the living room could be seen. Xander and Asta were standing near the fireplace, grinning, while David stood in the middle of the ‘rose garden’ with a bouquet of roses in his hands.
Andrew dropped Tabitha’s hand and she took a step forward.
TABITHA: David. What’s going on? What is all this?
DAVID: I didn’t expect there to be witnesses but I guess it would be more special if you have the ones you care about here.
TABITHA: What are you talking about? What’s going on?
DAVID: Tabby, we’ve been going out for a year now and it has been the most exciting, enjoying, beautiful year of my life. You taught me so much, Tabby. I learnt a lot just by being with you – about life, about myself. And I wish I could do the same.
TABITHA: David…
DAVID: No, please, let me finish. I rehearsed this a few times and my imaginary Tabitha never interrupted. I’ll mess up if you do.
TABITHA: Ok…
David took a deep breath and continued.
DAVID: I guess what I’m trying to say is that you make me happy and I want to feel this happiness for a long time. For the rest of my life to be exact. I want to be with you for the rest of my life.
TABITHA: Oh no. David…
David ignored Tabitha and took a step forward. He took out a small, black velvet box and snapped it open. Resting inside was a diamond ring. He got down on one knee.
Tabitha cast a worried look over at Andrew. He mirrored her expression. Asta and Xander watched David as he tried to do it right. Xander unconsciously reached out and took Asta’s hand into his.
Pike leaned against the wall behind Tabitha and Andrew. He had a bored expression on his face.
TABITHA: David, stand up.
DAVID: (smiling) No.
David extended his hand so that the ring was just in front of Tabitha.
DAVID: Tabitha Pike. Will you marry me?
Nobody said anything. Andrew, Asta and Xander held their breath, waiting in anticipation for Tabitha’s answer.
PIKE: I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me.
Pike left, leaving the rest in the living room with an anxious David and a shocked Tabitha.
TABITHA: Wow. David, I don’t know what to say?
DAVID: ‘Yes’ would be a good start.
TABITHA: This is all so sudden…
DAVID: Just say yes or no, Tabby. Though I would prefer if you say yes.
Tabitha looked away from David, casting her eyes to the ground.
TABITHA: No.
David blinked. He quickly got to his feet.
DAVID: What do you mean ‘no’?
TABITHA: I can’t marry you, David.
DAVID: Is it too soon? We can wait. You know, maybe have a long engagement or something
TABITHA: No, it’s not that. It’s just that I’m not in love with you.
DAVID: I…I don’t understand.
TABITHA: I’m in love with Andrew.
The ring clattered to the ground.

ACT 2
DAVID: Pike!
Pike sauntered into the living room a moment later with a soda can in one hand.
PIKE: You yelled?
David stalked up to Pike, his face flushed with anger.
DAVID: What the hell is going on? Is this some kind of joke?
PIKE: What are you talking about?
DAVID: Look!
Pike took a sip of his drink as he looked at the direction David was pointing. Tabitha and Andrew were standing in the middle of the living room with their hands around each other. They were giggling and whispering into at each other’s ear.
PIKE: What the hell is going on? What’s this?
DAVID: You tell me, Pike. It’s your sister!
PIKE: But your girlfriend!
Pike went up to Tabitha, grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the Watcher. Andrew scowled.
ANDREW: Hey!
PIKE: Tabby, what are you doing?
TABITHA: Nothing!
PIKE: You have your arms all over Andrew and you call that nothing?!
Tabitha smiled coyly. She fluttered her eyelashes flirtatiously at Andrew.
TABITHA: Knowing what we are doing later? This is nothing, Oliver.
Pike almost choked on his saliva.
PIKE: What?!
DAVID: What is this, Pike?
PIKE: Dude, just chill out for a minute. I need to wrap my brain around this. I’m as lost as you are.
He turned back to his sister.
PIKE: Ok, let’s try this one more time, alright? What are you doing with Andrew? Aren’t you marrying David?
TABITHA: Oh no, I can’t do that.
PIKE: And why not? Aren’t you in love with David?
DAVID: She’s not! That’s the whole point, Pike!
PIKE: Shut up! (to Tabitha) Tabby?
TABITHA: David’s right. I’m not. I’m in love with Andrew.
Pike’s jaw drop as Tabitha pulled away from his grasp and went to Andrew. Andrew wrapped his hands around her and they kissed.
DAVID: Oh dear god!
Pike turned to Asta and Xander, who were watching Andrew and Tabitha. They didn’t look as shocked as he was. Pike blinked. He noticed something weird between the two. The two of them were holding hands and were sneaking glances at one another.
He cleared his throat, hoping that his eyes were playing a trick on him.
PIKE: Guys, aren’t you going to stop this?
Asta giggled.
ASTA: Why would we? They are in love.
PIKE: But it’s Tabitha and Andrew!
ASTA: So? You can’t help with who you are falling in love with.
Asta gazed at Xander when she said her last sentence. Xander returned her gaze, smiling.
XANDER: You are so right.
PIKE: Whoa. Wait a sec. Are you guys…?
Asta grinned.
ASTA: Yup.
As if on cue, Asta and Xander leaned in for a passionate kiss. Pike looked away in disgust but only to have his eyes land on Tabitha and Andrew. They were both making out furiously with their hands all over each other.
PIKE: Oh no. Bad dream. Baaad dream.
######################################### ~LATER~ ~Kitchen~
David, Andrew and Xander were seated around the dining table in silence. The three of them watched as Pike pace.
DAVID: Pike, sit down. Your pacing is getting annoying.
PIKE: I’m trying to think here!
XANDER: Can I go now? Asta’s waiting for me.
PIKE: No! You and Andrew cannot leave without my permission, ok?
ANDREW: But the girls…
PIKE: The girls are fine! As long as they are away from you, they are fine. Now, let me think.
David shook his head, looking a little daze.
DAVID: This is a nightmare. I mean, on the day I propose I get this news that my girlfriend is in love with another guy. On the day I propose!
PIKE: You’re not helping here, David.
DAVID: What am I suppose to? Cause I have no idea what to do. I mean…my Tabitha is in love with Andrew! Andrew! Do you know what that means?
PIKE: Of course I do!
ANDREW: What’s wrong with me and Tabitha being in love with each other?
PIKE: What’s wrong? Oh where do I start!
XANDER: Calm down, Pike. It’s no big deal.
Pike pointed an accusing finger Xander.
PIKE: And you! You and Asta?
DAVID: Well, I kind of saw that coming.
Pike looked confused.
PIKE: What? When?
DAVID: Tabitha has been telling me how these two liked each other and all that. I didn’t know they would get it on so fast. A couple of weeks ago, Xander didn’t have any clue. Tabitha must have been some miracle worker.
PIKE: Tabitha didn’t do this. It must be something else! But it’s not love.
David groaned as he buried his face in his hands.
DAVID: Please kill me now.
Pike placed both of his hands on the dining table and leaned forward. He looked intently at Andrew and Xander who were across from me.
PIKE: Ok, guys, be honest with me here. What happened?
XANDER & ANDREW: We are in love.
PIKE: With Asta and Tabitha.
XANDER & ANDREW: Yes.
XANDER: You don’t know them like we do. She’s so strong.
ANDREW: And confident.
XANDER: And smart.
ANDREW: So smart.
XANDER: And can kick some serious ass.
David slammed his fist onto the table, startling the rest.
DAVID: Are you guys on drugs? You are talking about my girlfriend, my soon-to-be-and-I-hope-she-will-say-yes fiancé!
ANDREW: We are not on drugs.
XANDER: We are in love.
David raised his hands in surrender.
DAVID: I give up. They are under some sort of spell or something.
Pike’s eyes widened in realisation.
PIKE: Spell! Why didn’t I think of that! (to David) Wait here. And don’t let them leave.
DAVID: Where are you going?
PIKE: To fix this nightmare!
Pike ran out of the kitchen and headed straight into the living room where Tabitha and Asta were.
TABITHA: Are you guys done yet? I’m bored and Andrew and I have plans.
ASTA: Plans for what?
TABITHA: I have a set of chains waiting for him in the bedroom.
ASTA: Ooo. Let me know how that goes. I wanna surprise Xander tonight.
PIKE: Stop! Please stop!
TABITHA: Are you guys done?
PIKE: No. It’s your turn to answer some questions.
ASTA: There’s nothing wrong with us, Pike.
TABITHA: Yeah. We are –
PIKE: In love. So I heard. Ok, listen to me. Did you guys do any spells today?
TABITHA: Spells? What sort?
PIKE: Any spells. But more specifically, love spells.
TABITHA: Nope.
ASTA: Why would we do love spells when we are –
PIKE: Say you are in love and I swear I’ll tape your mouths!
Tabitha scowled.
TABITHA: I don’t like your tone, Oliver.
PIKE: Yeah, well, I don’t like any of this so deal with it. So no spells done today? By either of you?
ASTA & TABITHA: Nope.
Pike looked thoughtful.
PIKE: Then it must be someone else.
TABITHA: You think we are under a spell?
ASTA: We are not under a spell!
PIKE: I’ll think whatever I want besides you both being in love!
ASTA: I’m going to find Xander.
TABITHA: Me too. (pause) Except I’m finding Andrew.
The two girls stood up and hurried out of the living room. Pike sighed and followed them shortly.
When he entered the kitchen, Tabitha was seated on Andrew’s lap and Asta was standing behind Xander with her hands around his neck. Xander craned his neck around so that he could look at her and was whispering.
David stood in front of the refrigerator with his head against the cool surface.
DAVID: Let me know when they are done.
PIKE: Maybe you should leave. I’ll sort this out.
David peered at Pike.
DAVID: Leave? When my girlfriend on is some stranger’s lap, canoodling? Nope. I wanna stay here and make sure that canoodling is all they do.
PIKE: Ok. Well…erm…I think I know what’s happening.
DAVID: You do? Oh thank god! It’s drugs isn’t it?
PIKE: Well…not really. This might sound a bit strange but have an open mind about this ok?
DAVID: Open mind? I’m here at the refrigerator as Tabitha is making out with Andrew – a guy I hardly know. I should be killing him and breaking up with her. But no, I’m having an open mind. So if you want me to be more open than that, I think my brain would fall out.
PIKE: I take that as a yes then.
DAVID: Yes.
TABITHA: Andrew, stop that! That tickles!
David cringed and banged his head against the refrigerator.
DAVID: I really hope you know how to stop this.
PIKE: Ok. But I need your help.
DAVID: I’ll do anything.
Pike walked up to the dining table and cleared his throat loudly. The four lovebirds looked at him questioningly.
PIKE: Ok. Erm…David and I are going to find a way to stop this. I may have an idea but I need to go down to Slick’s to get some supplies.
XANDER: Do you need our help?
PIKE: Will you stop whispering and kissing like that if you help me?
Xander shrugged.
XANDER: I can’t promise you that.
PIKE: Then I prefer you don’t help me. Your touchy feely stuff would slow me down. I've got David with me so I’ll be alright.
Tabitha frowned, her attention away from Andrew.
TABITHA: You’re taking David to Slick’s shop?
DAVID: Who’s Slick?
PIKE: Yeah. I know you want to protect him or whatever but this is an emergency and –
TABITHA: Ok! Have fun!
Pike blinked, not sure whether he heard right.
PIKE: I’m sorry but did you just give me permission to bring David to Slick’s?
Tabitha’s attention was now back on Andrew. She ran her fingers through his thick, longish hair as Andrew nibbled on her ear.
TABITHA: Uh huh.
PIKE: (muttering) Wow. This spell is really strong.
DAVID: Who the hell is Slick? And can you ask Andrew to stop doing that?
Pike glanced over his shoulder at David. He still had his back towards the dining table.
DAVID: I can hear him nibbling on Tabitha’s ear.
Pike smirked as he turned back to Andrew and Tabitha.
PIKE: Andrew, stop that.
Andrew looked up at Pike and glared.
ANDREW: You’re not the boss of me.
TABITHA: Relax, baby. Once he’s gone, you can do whatever you want to me.
PIKE: Oh geez.
DAVID: ‘Baby’?
PIKE: Ok, listen to me – all of you. I can’t bring you four with me to Slick’s to I’m going to let you stay here. But there’s one rule.
ASTA: What’s that?
PIKE: No sex.
The four of them groaned simultaneously.
XANDER: Spoilsport.
PIKE: I’m serious ok? No sex. You can kiss and do whatever touchy feely things you’re doing now but nothing beyond that?
ANDREW: (whining) But why?
TABITHA: We’ll use protection!
PIKE: What are you? Teenagers? This thing that is happening here? It’s wrong ok? Tabitha, David is your boyfriend not Andrew. And Asta, I don’t know how this happened but it’s still wrong. So sex with each other? Very wrong!
XANDER: But –
PIKE: No.
TABITHA: I –
PIKE: No.
ASTA: We’ll –
PIKE: No.
ANDREW: Please –
PIKE: No! No, no, no! Understand?
The four mumbled under their breath.
PIKE: Alright. David and I will go and check things out. We’ll be back soon. I see clothes off and…you’ll be very sorry. (to David) Come on, we need to go.
David pushed himself away from the refrigerator and followed Pike out of the kitchen.
DAVID: Where are we going? And who’s Slick?
The two men grabbed their coats and exited the house.
PIKE: Slick is a friend of ours.
DAVID: And he can fix this?
PIKE: I hope so.
DAVID: What are we fixing anyway?
PIKE: You know how you were saying that they seem to be under a spell?
DAVID: And drugs.
PIKE: Well, I don’t think drugs are a possibility here because I have never heard of a drug that can make you fall in love with someone.
DAVID: The wrong someone.
PIKE: Right.
DAVID: Ok, so it’s not drugs.
PIKE: No. But it could be a spell.
David snorted a laugh.
DAVID: You’re saying drugs aren’t a possibility but a spell is? Do you know how crazy that sounds?
PIKE: One more thing. Remember how I told you to have an open mind?
DAVID: Yeah?
PIKE: Well, keep it open. It’s best for you.
DAVID: Are you going to tell me what’s going on?
PIKE: You probably won’t believe me if I tell you so I’m going to show you.
Pike stopped short, almost causing David to stumble.
PIKE: Damn. It’s worst than I thought.
Every single person on the street before them was locked in someone’s arms – either making out, groping or worse.

ACT 3
~SLICK’S SHOP~ ~Later~
David’s eyes widened as the brick wall slid open, revealing a small shop. His eyes grew even bigger when he and Pike stepped into the shop. The place was nearly deserted – except for one demon sitting in a corner, reading. The demon was the colour of clay and had a pair of horns sprouting out from its forehead. It only had a pair of shorts on and its torso was bare, showing off fancy patterns that looked like it was engraved into its skin.
The demon looked up at David and Pike and nodded its greeting. Pike nodded back.
DAVID: What the hell is that thing?
PIKE: Open mind, David, open mind.
Pike led David toward the unattended counter. He tapped a silver bell and a response came from the back.
SLICK: I’ll be right out.
David grabbed Pike’s arm and yanked him close.
DAVID: (whispering) What the hell is this place?
PIKE: It’s a shop.
DAVID: Selling what?
PIKE: All kinds of things really. Spells, books, ingredients for spells and I’m sure Slick sells demon parts too.
DAVID: Demon?
PIKE: Yeah, I know. I have no idea why he would want to sell demon parts. But he once said that there is a high demand for it. Go figure.
There was movement behind the counter and Slick appeared before them with a soiled rag in his hands. David yelped in surprise.
SLICK: Who’s he?
PIKE: My future brother-in-law.
SLICK: Tabitha’s getting married? Wow, that’s great news! Send her my congratulations.
PIKE: I will – once she says yes.
SLICK: She hasn’t said yes? Bummer.
PIKE: See, something kinda interrupted her saying yes. That’s why we are here.
Slick nodded in sympathy.
SLICK: I understand. Well, I have many love spells but my recommendation would be the Cupid’s Spell. It’s pretty rare as not many have used it before. It’s pretty heavy stuff but can guarantee you the one you want will fall in love with you forever. However, one wrong mistake; it can blow up in your face – literally. And take your whole town with you. So most just stick to the generic love spells.
PIKE: No, that’s not why we are here. There is already been a love spell done. Not sure by who but it’s done and it’s affecting Tabitha and my friends. Tabitha’s in love with another guy because of this spell.
Slick chuckled. He turned his beady eyes towards David.
SLICK: Tough luck man. First she says no then she falls in love with another guy? I so wouldn’t want to be you right now.
DAVID: She didn’t say no.
SLICK: She didn’t say yes either. Same diff.
PIKE: Ok, let’s save the insulting for another time alright? There’s a more pressing issue at hand here.
SLICK: So what do you need me for? A reversal spell?
PIKE: Yes.
SLICK: Do you know what kind of love spell that was done?
PIKE: No, but can you give me a general reversal spell?
SLICK: I could but it would be too general. It would reverse whatever other spells that have been done in this town. And trust me, there are some spells that you don’t want to reverse.
Pike ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
PIKE: Ok, do you know anyone who bought a love spell recently? Maybe you can tell me who it is and what he bought?
SLICK: Last week alone, at least twenty people bought a love spell. Four more yesterday and two today. It’s going to be hard to give you all the names.
PIKE: Never mind. I’ll knock on all their doors if I have to. Just give me their names.
SLICK: No can do. I didn’t take down their names.
PIKE: What? Why not?
SLICK: Pike, my man, when you bought your soap, did the cashier take down your name?
Pike didn’t reply. David smirked.
SLICK: Exactly. This is just a regular shop but I just sell stuff you can’t find on the streets. This ain’t a buy-something-and-I’ll-take-down-your-name-in-case-some-dude-wants-to-find-you kind of shop. Get me the name of the spell and I’ll get you the reversal spell.
PIKE: Did any of those people who bough the spell say anything about using it on Tabitha?
SLICK: Nope.
PIKE: World domination?
SLICK: Nope. Wait. (pause) Nope.
PIKE: Are you sure?
Slick scowled as he folded his arms across his chest. His eyes narrowed in annoyance.
SLICK: Do I look like I want to lie to you for the fun of it and waste precious selling time?
PIKE: Ok. Sorry. It’s just that we are desperate here. The spell is affecting everyone.
SLICK: You both are not affected.
Pike and David exchanged surprise looks.
DAVID: Huh. I never thought of that. Do you know why?
Pike shook his head.
PIKE: Slick’s right. We can’t really do anything about this spell until we find the person responsible for it.
DAVID: And what do you propose we do?
PIKE: (sighing) I don’t know. I just don’t know.
DAVID: Maybe we should go back to the house and explain to me one more time what’s going on. And I also want to make sure that Tabitha and Andrew aren’t doing anything more than kissing.
PIKE: Don’t worry, I’m sure the spell won’t take the both of them that far. And I know Tabitha. Even under a spell, she wouldn’t do something that she would regret. They will be alright.
######################################### ~HOUSE~
The door to Tabitha’s room slam shut as Tabitha and Andrew stumbled to the bed. They had their hands around each other and lips locked with each other’s.
ANDREW: I’m so glad your brother and that David is out. Finally we have some alone time.
Tabitha started unbuttoning Andrew’s shirt.
TABITHA: Less talk, more clothes ripping off.
ANDREW: Aren’t we going a little fast here?
Tabitha pulled his shirt away and tossed it aside. She pushed him onto the bed and started working on his pants.
TABITHA: What do you mean?
ANDREW: I just feel like we just met, you know?
TABITHA: Really? Cause I feel like I’ve known you for a long time.
Tabitha smothered Andrew’s lips with her before he got a chance to say anything else. The two of them fell back on the bed.
######################################### ~ASTA’S ROOM~
Xander pushed Asta against the door of the room and pinned her hands above her head.
ASTA: I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.
Xander left a trail of kisses along the side of her neck before working on her face.
XANDER: I know.
ASTA: But I can’t help thinking…
Xander moved away from Asta’s ear to reply.
XANDER: About what?
ASTA: About what Pike said.
XANDER: What did he say?
ASTA: That we might be under a spell.
Xander looked at Asta, frowning slightly. He removed his hands from Asta’s. She placed them around his neck.
XANDER: You believe him?
ASTA: Not really. I have been trying to think of the moment when we got together and I can’t seem to remember the time and place – the exact moment. I love you, Xander, and that is something I would like to remember. But I just can’t.
Xander smiled at her.
XANDER: Does it matter? What matters is that we are together.
ASTA: Can you remember?
Xander looked thoughtful as he thought over it.
XANDER: No…I don’t think I can.
ASTA: What if we are really under a spell?
XANDER: Do you care?
ASTA: No…no, I don’t think I do.
XANDER: Me either. As long as we are together, I don’t care how we got together.
Xander leaned forward and kissed her gently.
XANDER: As long as we are together.
Asta slipped Xander’s shirt off and tossed it aside.
#########################################
Sebastian was puzzled. Everywhere he went, he saw only one thing.
People in love.
There were a few who didn’t seem to have caught the love bug. And those few walked down the streets moping and looking depressed.
As Sebastian walked around, surveying the scene, he wondered why he wasn’t affected.
He pulled out his cell phone and started dialing.
######################################### ~SLICK’S SHOP~
Somewhere in the back, a telephone rang. Slick excused himself and walked into the back to answer it.
DAVID: Man, this is such a weird day.
PIKE: You’ll get use to it.
DAVID: I mean…this is real isn’t it?
He gestured to the demon at the corner, his eyebrows rising.
PIKE: It’s real.
DAVID: And Tabitha knows about it?
PIKE: We’ve been hunting demons and vampires for a long time now.
DAVID: Vampires?
PIKE: Yeah. You know, those human-looking creatures that suck your blood –
DAVID: I know what a vampire is. I just didn’t know there were such things here, in Hades Valley.
PIKE: There are a lot of things here that you don’t know about, Dave.
DAVID: Why do you guys do it? I mean, is it like your job or something? Are you like the Men in Black?
PIKE: (laughing) There’s no such thing as the Men in Black.
David looked skeptical.
DAVID: But demons and vampires exist? Right.
PIKE: We do this because we want to. We might not be doing much but our actions keep this town a better place to live in.
DAVID: What about Asta and the rest? They do this sort of thing as well?
PIKE: Yup. For Andrew, it’s his job. He’s a Watcher. For Asta, it’s her life. She’s a Slayer.
DAVID: For Xander?
PIKE: He just does it. Like us.
DAVID: Wow. So that explains the strange things that happen to Tabitha all the time.
PIKE: Yup.
David shook his head, his eyes wide with shock.
DAVID: Wow.
PIKE: You know, for a person who just heard what he just did, you sure are taking it pretty well.
DAVID: Well, I guess I knew, you know. I guess some part of me was prepared to hear the unexpected about Tabitha’s little extra curricular activities. It makes so much sense that it comes off less surprising.
Pike shot him a smile.
PIKE: Tabitha will be glad to hear that.
Just then, Slick appeared out of the back and came towards the two men. He was grinning from ear to ear.
SLICK: I’m glad you’re still here, boys. Guess who called.
######################################### ~ALLEY~
SLICK: The kid’s name is Sebastian. He bought the spell a couple of days ago.
PIKE: What kind of spell?
SLICK: Your usual garden variety ones. I probably sold about five of those that same day.
DAVID: (to Pike) Do you know this Sebastian?
PIKE: Never heard of him. (to Slick) What went wrong with the spell?
SLICK: He’s an amateur. Never dealt with a spell before. That was his first one. That’s probably what went wrong. Stupid kid.
DAVID: So how did Tabitha fall in love with Andrew of all people?
SLICK: This spell is probably one of your weakest love spells. It makes the one you want fall in love with you but the spell can’t guarantee that it makes them stay in love. Love sick high school boys and girls always use this spell. If the spell goes wrong, it randomly puts people in love together. Tabitha with Andrew, your one-eyed guy friend with that Slayer, Britney with Kevin…you get the idea.
DAVID: How come I wasn’t paired up with anyone? I’m in love too!
SLICK: Like I said, the spell randomly puts people together. Maybe after the spell went through the list, there wasn’t anyone left for you to be paired up with.
PIKE: Hey, at least you’re not paired up with me.
DAVID: I’m so glad I’m alone.
SLICK: Heads up.
Pike and David turned to the direction Slick nodded to and spotted a figure walking quickly toward them.
SEBASTIAN: Slick?
SLICK: Guys, meet Sebastian. The culprit who made Tabitha fall in love with Andrew.
David swung his fist and punched Sebastian across the face.
PIKE: Whoa!
Pike grabbed David by the shoulder and yanked him away from the teenager.
PIKE: Killing him won’t help, David.
DAVID: (to Sebastian) What the hell were you thinking?
Sebastian rubbed his sore jaw as he took a step away from David.
SEBASTIAN: I was doing it for a girl!
DAVID: Next time, stick to the old fashion method.
SEBASTIAN: I did! I asked her out two times and Asta didn’t reply me at all.
David and Pike stared at Sebastian.
PIKE: Did you just say Asta?
SEBASTIAN: Yeah. She’s the girl. I met her at a bar.
DAVID: Was it my bar? Cause you do look really familiar.
SEBASTIAN: Erm…sorry, I don’t remember you.
PIKE: Ok, we’ll chat about this later. Slick, can you reverse the spell?
SLICK: (to Sebastian) Did you bring the matchbox?
Sebastian reached into the pocket of his sweater and pulled out a black matchbox with red writings on it.
SEBASTIAN: Here. My Dad almost threw that away.
SLICK: Lucky for us, he didn’t.
The small demon squatted down and pulled out a white candle. He pushed the matchbox open and took out a match. He struck it alight and fired up the white candle.
SLICK: That should do it.
DAVID: That’s all? By lighting that candle, the spell will be broken?
Slick stood up and brushed dirt off his pants.
SLICK: Yup. The spell will be completely reversed when the candle is completely burnt out.
He tossed the matchbox away.
SLICK: If there’s nothing else, fellows, I have to go now. I have a shop to run.
PIKE: Thanks, Slick.
DAVID: Yeah, thanks man.
SLICK: Anytime. We’ll keep in touch.
The three men watched Slick walk off. Then Pike and David turned to Sebastian.
DAVID: Your ass so needs to be kicked right now.
The white candle on the ground beside them melted to nothing.
######################################### ~HOUSE~ ~Asta’s bedroom~
Xander lay top of Asta as he gazed into her eyes.
XANDER: I love you.
ASTA: I love –
Asta blinked.
ASTA: Xander?
XANDER: What the hell?
Xander’s eyes widened when he realized the position he was in.
XANDER: Holy merciful Zeus!
Xander jumped out of the bed, looking horrified. Asta sat up in bed, mirroring Xander’s expression.
XANDER: What the hell happened? Why am I naked? Why are you naked?
ASTA: I don’t know…
Asta gasped when realization hit.
ASTA: I think we just –
XANDER: Oh no. Oh please no!

ACT 4
Xander ran to the bed and grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around his waist.
XANDER: No no no no no no…
ASTA: I think yes.
Xander’s face paled. His eyes darted around the room, not quite looking at Asta.
XANDER: I-I have to go.
ASTA: Xander!
A shrill scream rang through the house. Xander opened the door of Asta’s bedroom and saw a half naked Andrew stumbling out of Tabitha’s room. A bed sheet was around his waist. Xander stepped out into the hallway.
XANDER: Andrew?
Andrew looked at Xander, his eyes as wide as saucers.
ANDREW: I think I did something bad.
XANDER: What happened?
Just then Tabitha came to the door of her bedroom. She threw a shirt and pair of pants at a bewildered Andrew.
TABITHA: You left something.
ANDREW: Tabitha, I –
TABITHA: Say a word about this to anyone and I’ll kill you.
Tabitha regarded Xander and gave him a tight smile.
TABITHA: Xander.
XANDER: Tabitha.
The door to her bedroom slammed shut.
XANDER: Let me guess.
ANDREW: Please don’t.
With sheets wrapped around their waists, the two men turned to the staircase and made their way down. They sat down of the bottom step, looking shell-shocked.
XANDER: What the hell just happened?
ANDREW: I don’t know.
XANDER: One minute we were…
ANDREW: And the next I was kissing her. Kissing! Tabitha! Do you know what that means? David’s going to kill me. Do you think I have time to pack and run before he and Pike get here. I bet Pike isn’t too happy about this as well.
XANDER: I think Pike was right. It must have been a spell.
ANDREW: You don’t sound convincing.
XANDER: I’ll keep saying it until I do.
ANDREW: Ok.
XANDER: It’s just a spell, it’s just a spell, it’s just a spell, it’s just a spell…
Andrew joined in.
XANDER & ANDREW: It’s just a spell, it’s just a spell, it’s just a spell, it’s just a spell…
######################################### ~LATER~
Pike and David walked up the house with Sebastian in tow. When they came up to the front door, it swung open, taking them by surprise. Tabitha stood before them. She did not look happy.
TABITHA: Tell me you found the idiot who did this and beat him to a bloody pulp. If not, I’ll have to do it.
PIKE: Be my guest.
Pike and David stepped aside. Sebastian smiled sheepishly at the other woman.
SEBASTIAN: Erm…sorry?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~KITCHEN~ ~dining table~
All of them except Asta and Sebastian gathered in the kitchen, around the dining table. They were all avoiding each other gazes as an awkward tension descended over them.
ANDREW: Well…erm, I’m glad this is all over.
Tabitha gave him a tight smile.
TABITHA: Oh yes!
ANDREW: No offense. It was nice…erm, being in love with you and everything but I prefer…not to be.
Tabitha smile grew more genuine.
TABITHA: Definitely.
XANDER: I’m a little confused about something though. If the spell was meant to pair up people who are in love, how come Andrew and I were affected? We both are not in love.
Pike shrugged.
PIKE: Maybe you are but you just don’t know it.
Xander scoffed.
XANDER: That’s impossible. I would know if I’m in love. I want to know if I’m I love.
TABITHA: Does it matter? This whole thing is a mess and I want to forget that it ever happened.
XANDER: I just want to know why I was affected.
ANDREW: Well, I know why it happened to me.
All of them looked at Andrew in surprise.
XANDER: You do?
Andrew looked at the ground, ashamed.
ANDREW: I use to have a crush on Tabitha.
TABITHA: You did?! Oh man, this is just getting worse by the minute.
ANDREW: I thought you were pretty cool with everything that you did. It was just a harmless crush. It didn’t mean anything.
PIKE: The spell probably thought it did. (grinning) It’s cute.
ANDREW: Ok, I’m going to be in my room and probably not come down for a week.
Andrew caught Tabitha’s gaze and quickly looked away.
ANDREW: Or maybe a year.
With that, the Watcher whirled around and dashed out of the kitchen. Pike couldn’t help but chuckle.
TABITHA: Not funny, Oliver.
PIKE: (laughing) It is funny if you think about it.
Tabitha shot her brother a glare from where she was seated.
TABITHA: Might be funny for you. But I’m still waiting for the punch line.
XANDER: (shrugging) It could be worse.
TABITHA: Easy for you to say. You got Asta!
Pike’s eyes twinkled mischievously as he smiled brightly at his sister.
PIKE: You’re right. But I’m sure Andrew was…good.
TABITHA: Argh! Leave!
PIKE: I was kidding!
TABITHA: Just go! I can’t stand seeing your smug face.
Pike raised his hands in surrender.
PIKE: Alright, alright. Come on, Xander. Let’s leave this two alone.
Pike clapped David on the shoulder before he exited the kitchen with Xander following shortly behind.
######################################### ~OUTSIDE~
Asta and Sebastian stood beside each other on the porch in an awkward silence. Then Sebastian started pacing in front of her.
ASTA: So…
SEBASTIAN: You probably don’t want to see me again right? I mean, what I did was probably the worst thing a guy could do in order to impress a girl.
ASTA: Not really…
SEBASTIAN: I should have tried flowers and chocolates. You read in stories how the guy does that and the girl falls madly in love with him immediately. I was stupid to think that it only happens to stories.
ASTA: It happens in real life too.
SEBASTIAN: But not love spells! Geez, what was I thinking? I messed with the forces of nature…or something. I messed with something that shouldn’t be messed. You don’t mess around with things like this. My mom always told me that.
ASTA: She did?
SEBASTIAN: No, but now that I think about it, she should have.
Sebastian threw up his hands in the air and groaned in frustration.
SEBASTIAN: Great! Now I’m blaming my mother for me messing around!
ASTA: Sebastian…
SEBASTIAN: I’ll go. I’ll stay as far away from you as possible. I’ll make sure you won’t see me. Do you want me to leave town? I’ll go. My Dad will kill me but I’ll think of something.
Asta reached out and grabbed Sebastian’s arm to stop him from pacing.
ASTA: Sebastian, just…stop ok?
SEBASTIAN: Ok.
ASTA: Look. What you did was wrong –
SEBASTIAN: And stupid.
ASTA: And stupid. But it’s alright.
SEBASTIAN: It is?
ASTA: Look, we make mistakes all the time. I’m just glad it isn’t a spell that would end the world or something.
SEBASTIAN: Now that would be really stupid.
ASTA: It will. The thing is, I’m actually flattered. I mean, no guy has ever done a love spell for me before.
SEBASTIAN: Well, that’s…unexpected.
ASTA: How did you find out about the spell?
SEBASTIAN: I lived here for all my life and you hear things. I just decided to listen.
Asta smiled as she leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
ASTA: Well, I forgive you for what you did. Just…don’t do it again. If you want to ask me out, just ask.
SEBASTIAN: I did. Twice.
ASTA: I know and I’m sorry. It’s just that things have been really hectic over at my end and –
Sebastian touched her cheek, cutting her off.
SEBASTIAN: Hey, you don’t have to explain to me. Just tell me yes or no.
Asta smiled.
ASTA: Yes.
SEBASTIAN: Oh thank god! Cause if you said no, I would have probably shot myself or something.
Asta laughed.
SEBASTIAN: So how about we grab some coffee. I know a place that’s still open. Let me make it up to you starting from now.
ASTA: Sounds good. I need to get out of the house anyway. Let me get my coat.
Asta pulled away from Sebastian and entered the house. She stopped when she saw Xander standing in front of her.
ASTA: Oh. Hey.
XANDER: Hey. (pause) Is he gone yet?
ASTA: Erm…no. He…I’m going out with him for coffee.
XANDER: Oh.
ASTA: He’s a nice guy, Xander. Even with what he did…he’s still a nice guy.
XANDER: I didn’t say he wasn’t.
ASTA: Oh ok. I just…the way you look…I thought you didn’t approve.
XANDER: Not my place to say.
The two fell silence.
ASTA: Look, what happened with us…
XANDER: It’s nothing. It was just a fluke. A spell.
ASTA: Yeah…a fluke.
XANDER: It didn’t mean anything.
Asta’s face fell a little.
ASTA: It didn’t.
XANDER: Ok.
ASTA: Ok.
Silence.
Then Xander chuckled.
XANDER: You know I find this really funny.
ASTA: You do?
XANDER: Yeah. The spell works on people who are in love but it paired both of us up and we are probably the only people in this house who are not in love. It’s really ironic.
Asta looked away.
ASTA: Yeah. I guess.
XANDER: It’s true right? You’re not in love.
Asta looked Xander in the eye.
ASTA: I…I have to go. Sebastian is waiting.
XANDER: Right. Of course. I won’t keep you then. And again, I’m sorry. For everything.
ASTA: Me too.
XANDER: Have fun with Sebastian.
ASTA: I will. I’ll see you.
XANDER: Bye.
Asta grabbed her coat off the rack and made her way out of the house. Xander watched Asta through the window as she links arms with the young man and the two of the walked away house.
He stood there watching until they disappeared from sight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~KITCHEN~
DAVID: You don’t have to apologize what happened. It’s not your fault.
TABITHA: No, I have to. All the things Andrew and I did… Agrh! What’s worse than me falling in love with Andrew?
David cracked a smile.
DAVID: You sleeping with Andrew?
Tabitha shuddered.
TABITHA: I wish I could erase it all and start all over again.
DAVID: After what I learnt from tonight, I won’t be surprised if there is a spell that could do that.
TABITHA: No, I’m not going to be that person who erases all her problems with a spell. I’m going to work hard to correct my mistake. To show you that I really, really am sorry.
DAVID: I know. That’s why I fell in love with you.
TABITHA: I’m sorry.
DAVID: I know, Tabby. You don’t have to apologize.
Tabitha cocked her head, remembering something.
TABITHA: Wait you went to Slick’s shop.
DAVID: I did.
TABITHA: And?
DAVID: And…there a lot of questions.
TABITHA: I bet.
Tabitha went up to David and took his hands into hers.
TABITHA: Look, David, I’m sorry I didn’t mention any of this to you. I would have told you in a heartbeat if I knew what I was going to say won’t put you in danger. I wanted to protect you. And I wanted something in my life that didn’t have anything to do with demons and vampires and spells.
David nodded, smiling sympathetically.
DAVID: I understand. I think I would have done the same.
TABITHA: You’re not mad?
DAVID: Mad about what? You weren’t exactly lying. You told me that you had secrets and I came to learn that secrets are meant to be that – a secret. Yes, I wished there weren’t any secrets between us but…but you were honest about it. So…I’m not mad.
TABITHA: Are you sure? You can be mad, you know. I want you to be mad because I deserve it.
David touched her face, his thumb stroking Tabitha’s cheek.
DAVID: Hey, remember the talk we had? I told you I won’t run. And by being mad, I’m just running away. I’m not running.
TABITHA: Marry me.
David blinked, his hand dropped to his side.
DAVID: What?
TABITHA: I never answered your question…
DAVID: (smirking) Well, technically, you did.
TABITHA: It doesn’t count. The least I could do is ask you to marry me.
DAVID: Tabby…
TABITHA: Marry me, David.
David smiled as he leaned forward.
DAVID: Of course.
Their lips met for a kiss.
