So I was looking through my DVDs and I realized I have quite a few TV shows on DVD, but not so many movies. I've got Grey's Anatomy, some Friends, some Sex and the City, Scrubs, Gilmore Girls, The Sopranos, Buffy, some Angel, Firefly, Dead Like Me (season 1 only), The OC (season 1 & 2), Lost, Queer as Folk, Oz...
I prefer having a whole stack of episodes to watch, rather than just one movie. What about you?

I get quite a few of both, depending on what's out at the time.

I have a lot of TV as well but I got those as gifts. They're too expensive for me to buy whenever. Movies, though, are cheaper (if they're older) and I usually buy at least one every week.

I said both equally, since I love movies and TV shows both for different reasons.
Movies are nice, because they are usually short and sweet (instead of being many seasons). Plus, you see it all in one place and it (hopefully) keeps you interested.
However, TV shows are good because they last many different seasons- giving the show time to progress and take many different turns.
Whether or not I watch a TV show or a movie depends on my mood.

I voted both equally but mostly I prefer to watch episodes of the shows that I love. But that might be because they go for less time on their own, or you can keep being entertained by that show for hours. And a movie, well once its watched that story can't be watched again for awhile. A TV show you can still watch those same loves characters over and over because by the time you finish, it was ages ago you watched the first one But it depends on the show and the movie in question.

I find that TV shows are far more convenient to watch on DVD than movies. If you have less time to spare, it works well, or if you have more time to spare, you can watch multiples, as Beck said. Also, I really hate ggetting half way through something and having to stop for whatever reason, so TV shows help with that. I have a lot of TV as well but I got those as gifts. They're too expensive for me to buy whenever. Movies, though, are cheaper (if they're older) and I usually buy at least one every week. TV shows are coming down in price here on DVD. They're cheaper than what they once were - when I was buying Buffy DVDs they were $70-$80 per half season, and now that's the very most you'll pay for a full season of anything. Also, TV series' that have been out for a little while are coming down as cheap as movies too, now. For instance, you can get full seasons of Scrubs and Smallville for $20 each now, which is toward the cheaper end of movie prices.

That depends on how new the season is. My NCIS Season 1 cost $60 and thats been out awhile, whereas my Greys Season 2 cost me almost $90. Shows like X Files are still pretty expensive, same with most shows still airing. My SVU DVDs were also around $80. But they are cheaper than they were.

I prefer Tv shows because you can enjoy the characters of so much longer. Plus for some reason I could easily sit and watch Tv for 6 hours and not get tired but after watching a movie whether its 2hrs or 3 I always feel tired.
I also have a lot more TV series: All Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Friends, Scrubs, Alias, West Wing, Joey, Grey's Anatomy, ER, Bones, 1-4 CSI, season 1 Lost, season 1 Desperate Housewives

As of right now I buy more movies on DVD, but thanks to eBay that might change to both equally. However, I don't think I like enough TV shows so much that I'd buy them on DVD to make it equal to the amount of movies I have *shrug*

I paid about $100 for Queer as Folk season 1. A bit stupid really. It was worth it though, great show.

I find that kind of pricing is still worth it when you love the show. And value for money wise, it's still better than a movie. Besides, I was paying $70-80 for each half season of Buffy and Angel - and I was happy to... even if I am disgusted when I see how cheap they are now.

I voted both equally. Mainly because I love my TV episodes which I buy alot of like Buffy, Angel and Firefly. But i also love movies like Serenity and Underworld and Grease. I agree with Loz, if I like it I buy it.

I have more tv shows than movies on DVD but I don't think that shows I prefer tv shows over movies. I like both equally. TV shows have their advantages though. Like how they are free and run longer than movies. *sigh* My Master don't allow me to watch much tv or movies though. 20/50

TV shows. I could watch them over and over (that's mostly because most have lots of seasons ) and never get tired of them, while I couldn't with movies.

The great thing about TV shows on DVD is that you don't need to commit as much time. I find that when I have a little bit of time, I'll happily chuck on an episode of a TV show, rather than part of a movie.

Very true, Allan. I always find myself watching an ep on DVD whenever I have an hour of free time. I hate watching a movie halfway as you'll never know when it would be the next time you'd continue with it.

I guess I have more Movies than tv shows. Just because it is alot cheaper to buy movies I guess, and I can be in a store and see a movie for a couple pounds and buy it, but usually the shows I like are alot more expensive!.
