I'm not sure if any of you watch the US version of The Office (the British one's quite amusing, though), but inlight of a recent announcement (which I've transcribed from Vodafone Live), I figured I would create a thread for it. __________
Whedon hits The Office
Joss Whedon, the writer and director best known for masterminding cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is helming an episode of the US adaptation of The Office.
Jenna Fisher, who plays office receptionist in Pam Beesley in the award-winning sitcom, wrote about the experience on her MySpace page, describing it as "exciting".
"Joss has quickly become one of our favourite directors," Fisher wrote. "The crew loves him. He's a huge fan of the show and therefore gets really into every detail of the show... It's been a total dream."
Whedon has a history of getting involved with his favourite TV series. He had a cameo appearance in a season two episode of Veronica Mars, which he once described as the "Best. Show. Ever".
Whedon also created the series Angel and Firefly, and is currently working on a comic book about the continuing adventures of vampire slayer Buffy Summers.
His episode of The Office is slated to premiere in the US in the Northern Hemisphere Spring.

First off - the Office is a kick ass show. The only show on TV right now that I genuinly laugh at out loud. Second - I read about the Joss news and I'm so excited for it! I know it'll be great.

It should be. Generally, I have a distaste for any US versions of British shows, but I've heard that the US version is good too.

I agree - I think all US versions are worse than the British versions ... but this show is amazing. I've never seen the British version so I can't compare - but my god it's hilarious.

I'll have to keep my eye out for the US version. I like Steve Carrell, but avoided the show assuming that it was just going to be a butchered version of the UK show. And then I'd started hearing good things about it, and haven't managed to see an episode...

Has anyone else watched The Office? I still haven't seen Joss' episode, but I'm going to try to find it soon. Anyone have a favorite character? Dwight is my favorite, I even have a t-shirt of him.

I still haven't seen Joss' episode Joss' episode s, Bre. He did two! I haven't seen them myself, though that's largely due to how dodgy they are with screening it here. Of the characters, most of them are great, but I'll also have to vote for Dwight. The guy is such a tool!

I thought it was three, but according to IMDb there are only two. Maybe a third one is yet to air (or even be filmed?). Or maybe I was imagining the third.

I got season 1 on DVD. I'm excited to watch it all. I hope there are some good special features, if any.

From memory, it just has deleted scenes (at least the Aus version). But generally speaking, they're just as funny as the scenes that made the final cut.
I've recently been through season 2, though, and it has quite a bit of stuff - deleted scenes, commentaries, stupid advertising stuff, some amusing bloopers and a little more.

I absolutely love this show and I can't wait to get it on DVD. It's not available here, though, sadly. My favourite character is Dwight and I think Dwight and Angela are the most interesting couple I have shipped in a long, long time. I know they're an odd match but I love to see them together for some reason. Way more interesting that Jam, in my opinion, though I do love Jim and Pam too. Steve Carrell is absolutely hilarious and Rainn Wilson excels as Dwight.

I wouldn't describe Dwight and Angela as "interesting" so much as a good fit. They're very similar in some ways, as well as so different to each other. Re Jim and Pam, the season two finale was heartbreaking.

The DVD had some great commentaries as well. Anyway, I've caught up and watched every episode. One of Joss' episodes was of course about vampires. It was really good, though. The episode is "Business School" from season three. I don't remember the other episode he did, but this one was really good.

I think his second episode was a season four one. They stopped airing it here part of the way through season three, which was disappointing. Hopefully it'll hit DVD sooner rather than later.
