An interview with Beck... 1) How did you get involved in forums before you even created KAX? Having just become a mother for the first time I suddenly found myself at home full time and the babies slept sometimes for a couple of hours at a time. I found myself with little contact to the outside world, so I looked for places I could find people with similar interests to talk to. A quick Google search and I found a couple of Buffy forums. 2) What inspired you to create KAX?A couple of much loved forums I went to were dying. One had only 3 active posters, one of them you Amber , and the other was being overrun with spamming little twerps. So I created my own place. 3) In the beginning, when there weren't as many members, there definitely wasn't a LOT of posting going on. Now, though, looking at all the active members we have...How does it feel to have been here when KAX was just making its foundations, and to see how it is now? How much of a difference is there? There are still some of the original members which is really nice. People like Amber, Loz, and Liz who were all here in the first few days of creation are still posting a lot. We were tiny at first, but for the few members we had it was active enough to be fun. Over the last two years, obviously Kax has grown and we've met new friends and the group of regulars are a great bunch. We're diverse, and strange, but in many ways not so dissimliar. It makes me proud to see Kax still alive and kicking, and still fun. There is a lot of difference in diversity of topics, as originally we just spammed everywhere 4) We all know you've taken breaks from KAX. During those breaks, do you ever feel the creeping urge to go on and post because you miss it/us a lot?I do miss it, and I also worry that its too quiet, or that something has gone wrong. So yep, I get the urge a LOT. But we all need breaks sometimes and hopefully one day I can take a break and be happy in the knowledge I am not needed to keep this place active5) How do you plan on encouraging people to join in the future, and for current members to become more active?I've tried advertising it on the support forum, and I would love to encourage other members to invite as many people as possible to join the community... we've had a lot join but a lot come on once then go away The current members mostly are pretty active, though I do wish that I didn't have to push them all the time. It makes me lose some motivation to post. And some members hide in certan sections I have considered putting in a points system for referrals... we'll see.6) What are some of your favourite KAX "moments' (aka threads or certain posts)? The very first AO Awards were hilarious, and I have loved some of the AFL arguments between various people. Some of the more intense debates also peak my interest, and I have fond memories of the first Kax party. I also find it funny when less wanted members have been put in their place. Some less fond moments include rule breakage by older members who should know better, and the Secret indicident.7) There are many fandom forums online. Why did you choose to originally base this forum as a general chat one, and then build fandom into it? Because it was solely for chatting amongst friends at first -a Jossverse section was added early on because it was a major common interest among all the members excluding Kate who was the only non-fan.8) Challenges pop up every day for each of the members. When did you think to do these, and do you think people are encouraged to post more by being challenged?I first thought of it as a way to try and encourage posting, and to encourage some members who stick to certain sections to venture out of them. And I think in some cases some of the challenges have had a lasting result for that. Its allowed people to joke around a bit and have some laughs, I try to keep the challenges varied and not make them boring, or too difficult for anyone. I hope that people like them, but there is the option to decine for those who don't!9) So many friendships (and even a few relationships) have been created because of this site. How does it feel to have brought us all together by making a forum? After all, if not for you, a lot of us would have never met.I think its nice. I've formed some great friendships on Kax, and it makes me proud that its still going strong, and that others have gotten friendships and enjoyment out of it too.10) Has KAX changed your life in any way, big or small? If so, how? Yes, it has. I've learnt a lot more patience, as its needed a lot of the time to run a forum, and I've made some lifelong friendships with people I feel I know a lot better than others I know in RL. Its given me an outlet for boredom, and I've shared much and gained a lot from the people on Kax.Hope no one is too bored now You can ask about any of the questions you like, hopefully it was at least a little interesting, though hopefully the other interviews will be a bit longer, and as done on msn the questions can be expanded on by the interviewee

An interview with Shaun, by Laura. (Laura in bold) Let's start with Kax related questions: Is it hard to juggle being the global moderator of an active forum with being a student? Its hard going through some of the inane posts But no, it doesn't take up a lot of my timeOkay, well, have you ever considered resigning your post as moderator to just become a regular member?I asked to be stepped down once before and I got argued with and what convinced you to stay?It shut Beck up Okay . Do you ever think you will try again to step down?I don't mind helping out with coding, to do that I need admin access, but its possible I would request not to moderate the forum and stay staff for that purpose only.Okay, then. Moving along: Have you ever considered leaving Kax altogether?YeahAny reasons that concern the forum?I'm not sure how to answer that. What I mean is, is it because of an aspect of the forum itself or something personal that shall remain off this record?Something personal that would have given me no reason to stay. What about If Beck ever chose to leave Kax. Would you want to become the new admin? No. And I think its better for everyone else it is that way I agree ~ ~Now, you've been on Kax a little over two years now, so you have probably see it change in many ways. What are some changes the forum has undergone? Were they for better or worse? Most of the changes are in the appearance of the forum, and the coding. The member list has changed, and there is less spam. There is also a younger feel to the forum now. What do you mean by a "younger feel"?A lot of the newer members over the last year are younger, or they seem younger. Thats not an insult, just an observation. I am a lot more careful with saying some things, as there are more people who could be offended, the older group was smaller, and closer. Ah, I see. So are you turned off by the sudden rise of younger members? No, I just have little in common with some of them, and that is not exclusive to the youngest ones. I can't tell if you're typing or not lolI was, but I realised I might offend some people with what I was typing Some people Some very boring people I can't hold a conversation with.Ah, okay. That makes sense. This kind of pertains to the next question in fact. Is Kax still interesting to you? You have been an active member for a long time, and it seems you are losing a lot of members your age, so does that mean you will eventually tire of it?Some sections still interest me. I still like to read the debate threads, and sometimes there are amusing threads elsewhere that get my attention. I don't watch much TV or movies, and haven't watched any of Joss' shows in a long time, so I don't often post in those sections. There are also sections that bore me. The amount of quizzes I find frustrating because its one of my sections, and often people don't bother to check if those quizzes have been done before.Do you think these few sections are enough to keep you interested?Having my girlfriend there is enough to keep me interested Which leads to my next question, have you ever been on a forum with so many close friends before? Do you think that is one of the reasons why you have stayed on Kax for so long?A mate of mine used to run a forum that was mostly just people I knew personally, so it was reasonably close. Some of the people on Kax are the reason I have stayed. And if those certain people ever left, would you follow? It would leave me no reason to stay.Makes sense . Anyways, moving away from Kax related questions now. What is your biggest pet peeve in real life? (You can say your biggest pet peeve on Kax too, if you want to) I have a lot of those. The worst is my mates habit of supporting anything I am against, mostly with sporting matches. And they do it on purpose because it pisses me off. I think that would annoy anyoneOn Kax it would possibly be the obsession with people having to say goodbye in the chat thread. Its pointless, they have already left. And the obsession with post count.Who knew the goodbyes bothered you lolIt stalls any actual conversation happening in that thread.I see. Makes sense. But anyway, definitely away from Kax now: What else do you do in your free time (besides Kax)Talk to my girlfriend School, and I swim a lot. I used to play Indoor Cricket and football but I don't have enough time for it anymore. And I used to play a lot of computer games but I haven't done that in a long time lol what kind of computer games interested you?Little war games Okay then.
Moving along, do you look into your future often? If so, what is one concrete thing you see in it?Lauren. And as for a job, what inspired you to be a lawyer? My grandfather and my father are both lawyers. I never thought about being anything else. And the few last questions about yourself. If you could change one thing about your personality, what would it be? What are you saying, Laura?I'm not trying to imply anything with this lolI would like to be stronger emotionally. Is that what you think your greatest character flaw is then?Yeah. I overthink too much and worry about things I shouldn't.Okay then, on the flip side, what do you think your most outstanding quality is?I don't know.Okay. And that marks the end of the interview. ThanksEnjoy! Formatting was done by me, as the interview was done on MSN.

An Interview with Loz, by Allan. How would you best describe your experience working in the public service?Draining. I got promoted fast and Defence is not the easiest of environments for a young (ish ) female. I have to deal with a lot of older serviceman and there still seems to be this impression that i don't know what i'm talking about because i'm a girl Is this how you saw your life ten years ago?I thought i'd be in Hollywood Having seen the dinge-hole that is LA i'll definitely have to base myself in New York. For a slight change of a work environment, what is it about working in the film industry that you find so appealing?I love to write. And i love to boss people around. Therefore i would make a great writer/director Seriously though i've loved films since i sneakily watched Grease down the hall when i was four years old. I decided then and there that i wanted to be part of that world of make believe and wish fulfilment. What would your ideal movie project be?An epic feature set in Eden with the whaling industry as a backdrop.Do you have any projects in the works that you would like to complete some day?About 10 There is one screenplay especially that i would really like to get off the ground. In a similar yet slightly different vein, approximately how many DVDs do you own?I won't count them. It would frighten me. Hundreds When you buy the DVDs, do you get them predominantly for the movie or the special features, and do you find that the features inspire your aspirations?I'm not going to get a movie i don't like just because its chockers of special features. But if its an alright movie then a bunch of stuff will probably tip me over the edge and i'll buy it. I adore special features. And yeah i find they can be very educational and very inspirational. Which filmmakers have proven to be inspirational to you?I guess number one would be Baz Lurhmann. It never fails to astound me that Strictly Ballroom was his first film. That he could make such a visually beautiful and emotional film on a nothing budget is definitely inspirational. On the flip side, are there any filmmakers who you look at and think “I could do better than that crap”?Not really I certainly see a lot of films where i wonder how the hell they got made and who the hell made them Would you call any movies “guilty pleasures”? Technically, they’re not good movies, but you can’t help but enjoy them.Pretty much every dance movie ever made. My number one guilty pleasure is a little film called Girls just want to have fun . Its from 1985 and in the scheme of things it sucks. But i have loved it since i was 6 and i will always love it. It never fails to make me feel good, no matter what is going on. And when they get to be regulars on Dance TV i almost cry every single time You described your first impression of Beck as being “Could be a friend”, however you would now class her as your best friend. How long would you say it has taken for your friendship to develop, and for the two of you to become so close?About the second time we got together Beck and i clicked from the very beginning really. We've obviously gone through some stuff together over the years which have solidified things, but i think it was pretty obvious from the start that we would be good mates. What does Shaun offer you that no other guy can?Shaun gets me. He knows me better than anyone else and yet still loves me And he's just, quite simply, a really special guy If you think back to before your relationship with Shaun, has your opinion online relationships changed at all? How so?I didn't think that was how any of my relationships would start. But i never thought that ones that did meant anything less than one started in some other way Between Beck and Shaun, it is apparent that KAX would be a large part of your life. Aside from these two people, is there anything else you love about the forum?I do enjoy a lot of the discussions. Its such a diverse bunch of people, which makes it really interesting. And its the history of the place. I love what it has bought to me. I wouldn't know Shaun if it wasn't for KAX. And in the early days especially it was just the best place in the world to waste a day at work. The first KAX party was truly brilliant - with the dates and the invites and the outfits And looking at the flipside of this, is there anything you dislike about the forum? Some of that diverse bunch of people There is a lack of maturity. I mean, with some of the newer people there is no way in hell i could have an afternoon on here like i did with Shaun, Kate, Jay, Sammy, Beck and James once Aside from Beck and Shaun, who do you feel that you know the best on KAX?Nina or James. Is there anybody on the forum who you wish that you knew a bit better?I think i know everyone about as well as i like Moving offline before we finish, when not working, where would people be inclined to find you, and what would you be doing? In front of some type of screen.... movie, TV, computer And i would be drinking coffee. On the flipside, where would people never find you? What activities would you would blatantly refuse to do?Um, Fyshwick Any of the activities that suburb is known for.Is there anything interesting that KAXers would like to know about you?I doubt it There is not much to tell

An interview with Bre, by Allan. As we get started, I feel I should congratulate you for a couple of things. Firstly, I would like to congratulate you for finally escaping the “hellhole” that is high school. How does it feel? Hellhole is exactly what it was. It feels great. That place sucked the life out of me and I'm ready to move on to bigger and better things. Now that you have made the great escape, what are your plans for the next five years? Where do you see yourself?Well I'm going to uni for what, I'm not sure. I keep changing my mind. Something though that will have a lot of travelling, which I plan to do in the next five years. In five years I would like to be completely done with school but I'm not sure that will work out. Given your writing for the school paper, can we expect you to fill the void through KAX? Can we expect you to write anything for the forum, in addition to your posting?Like a KAX news update? I'll do anything for KAX. The second thing I should also congratulate for is being voted not once, but twice, for being the KAXer most likely to turn the girls gay. How does that make you feel? That makes me feel very flattered. Thanks ladies. You have provided a lot of fan art for the forum, the members, and yourself. How did you decide that it’s a great way to spend your time? When I first got into Buffy and seeing the different fan art I had different sites and blogs I wanted to make to show my appreciation. Eventually I was sick of asking other people to make graphics for them so I decided to learn. And now it's just addicting. Your Photoshop skills can be described as very artistic. Are you artistic in any other areas? Not really. When I get into writing I think up some good ideas. If I try hard enough I can draw fairly decent. And can play a few things on some instruments. On the flipside, is there anything that you wish you were artistic at?I wish I could sing or write music. It's my passion but I suck at it. As a fan of the Jossverse, what first attracted you to it?Probably the witty dialog. Anyone can write a story about a hero, but the way it was written is what attracted me to it.In a similar vein, what first attracted you to Lord of the Rings? The beautiful men. First time I heard of the series was when I saw the Fellowship in theaters. After that I had to research everything about Middle Earth. Buffy vs Legolas in a fight to the death. Who would win, and how would they do it?No contest - Buffy. Legolas could pierce her with his arrows and Buffy would just get back up and ... well you know the rest. But I don't like to think about it. Are there any other parts of pop culture, whether they’re TV series’, books, or movies that you find you absolutely love?Music is the love of my life. But I love all pop culture. They're all so different, so it's kind of difficult to compare.Has becoming a moderator of KAX affected your enjoyment of the forum at all, positively or negatively?Positively. I'm not just a screwy little member like the rest of you! No I just get more insight as to what's going on, which is nice. What first attracted you to the forum, and what made you stay? Has any of this surprised you at all?Well Beck and Tash invited me and the first day I think I made quite a lot of posts and I think Beck exalted me for it and I thought "Hell I like this place!".Is there anything about the forum – or the members – that you would change?Only that I wish there was more activity. I hate the long periods of quiet. As for the structure of the forum, I think it's perfect. You have been a member for quite a while, so how have you noticed it changing? Have all the changes been for the better, or for the worse? Both. For the better, a lot of us have grown closer and we can meet new people. It just gets cozier. But we lose members too, which is disappointing.Which members do you find yourself closest to on the forum, and why?Probably Beck. I talk to her the most on and off KAX. I'm not on MSN a lot, but when I am I usually chat with Beck. But there are some members who I've grown apart from, too.Which members do you find yourself not so close to, and again, why?Probably the members who aren't on a lot or only post in certain sections. Moving offline before we finish, when not working or studying, where would people be inclined to find you, and what would you be doing? At the mall shopping, at the movies, listening to music, just walking around or playing football and soccer. On the flipside, where would people never find you? What activities would you would blatantly refuse to do?At an amusement park on rides. I hate big freaky rides. Is there anything interesting that KAXers would like to know about you? Are there any deep dark secrets that could explain your apparent fear of being portrayed as evil?Shut up.

An interview with Tash, by Allan
Your life can probably be described in one word – “busy”. How do you manage to juggle work, study, and of course, Xander? With a lot of help and not much sleep lol thankfully I only have Xander and school to concentrait on so it makes it a little bit easier
Your studies include law. What made you decide to go into that field? legally blonde! no really I saw the film just before we had an open day at collage it looked like fun so I went to a taster session at collage, that was a lot of fun so I went on to study it for 2yrs before going to uni
What type of law are you studying, and for us mere mortals who don’t understand all the law jargon, what does it include? This year I studied company law which is reall boring rules for businesses, land law which is even more boring and equity which is all about trusts and wills. oh and of course medical law which is my main focus
Once your studies are complete, where do you see it leading? once I've begun my PhD I can start teaching at uni and from there I want to write and research focusing on genetics and reproduction within the law
Having a child is obviously a life changing event. How did you feel when Xander was born? scared seriously I was 17! but it was also the best feeling in the world and very hard to describe
What would you describe as being the most rewarding part of being a mother? seeing Xander grow and learn and knowing that I had a part to play in that
With time being so short, is there anything you wish you had more time for, and if so, what is it? drinking and kax! I guess I wish I could go to more Man U matches or even just go down the pub to watch a game
On the flipside, is there anything in your life that you wish took less time? Reading journals and books takes forever espesically with my dyslexia so I guess it would be cool be able to take it all in quicker
What was it that first attracted you to the Jossverse? I saw the movie because my mum taped it thining it would be something I'd like, she was right and from there I saw how much better the show was
Do you find that is still its main appeal, or has this changed somewhat over the years? After the initial realization that the show was awsome I became more and more invested in the different relationships and also I like violence!
On a similar note, have you found any other TV series’, movies or books that have a similar appeal? If so, what are they? Greys Anatomy and Alias definately have the same complex relationships that have me hanging off the edge of my seat
Since this interview is for KAX, it is only fitting that I ask you some questions regarding the forum. So, firstly, how did you find the forum? Throught Buffy, I was looking for somewhere to talk about buffy and came accross Buffytalk from there I met Beck and made the trip over to Kax which was a tiny one month old forum
In a similar vein, what was it about the forum that made you stay? Beck I'd be hunted down and shot if I ever left for good nah its just an awsome site and you make lots of great friends, plus I always have someone to talk too if I'm bored or upset or really happy
How have you noticed KAX change over the years? Has it been for the better, or for the worse? A lot of people have come and gone, some I miss and some I really really don't! we're going through a little lull right now which is disappointing considering how booming Kax was last summer but I definately believe that it can get back to that and of course change happens and a lot of the time it ends up being for the better
Which members do you feel you know the best? I've known Beck, Loz and Bre the longest so I should know them pretty well
Which members do you wish you knew better? its always fun getting to know the newer members and that will happen soon enough
You have been voted as the “most likely to be drunk online”. So, how often are you drunk online? last year it would probably have been 3/4 times a week now its more once. eh maybe I'll get drunk tonight!
While offline and making use of your limited free time, where would people be likely to find you? At home watcing a show or at the pub
In contrast, where would people never find you? Is there anything you would refuse to do? umm nowhere really I'll try anything atleast once
And finally, is there anything KAXers would find interesting about you? How about scary? umm nothing that comes to mind but I'm sure something interesting will happen any day now

Well I wanted to post Kate's interview next but she's no longer active so, this is an interview with Liz! When I first met you, you were a wee high schooler. Now you are at uni, how are you finding the differences between it and high school?Well...I actually found it really hard for the first semester - like, not having my friends there and not seeing them as often as I did. The work was challenging - it was interesting to be in a class with older people and boys (coming from an all girls school). Now I'm doing a different course, and it's different again. This one is so well structured it's almost like being back at school. They kinda hold your hand a lot - which I suppose is good, but sometimes can be very annoying. What made you decide to change course, and what have you changed to?Jobs options. Hah. The course I was doing was basically arts - I would have a bit of journalism knowledge, and a bit of literary knowledge. Probably not enough to get myself employed...so, I decided to change to education. When I finished high school I went on a big trip to England/America and I thought about how I'd like to live there some day. There's a world-wide teaching (and nursing) shortage so teaching is an excellent way to travel. I'm doing early childhood, which is birth to 8 and I want to work in probably grades 2-3Heh and deal with kids all day long Yeah, I like kids. Wouldn't want to do babies though! ...even adorable ones like Ella. Ah but kids are evil. Are you worried teaching so many brats will turn you off having kids? Ahh nahh. Actually, I was thinking about this the other day - learning all about child development etc will be really useful when I do have kids! Which won't be for another 10 years, of course. Do you think that teachers are unfairly paid? Does that worry you going into that field?Definitely, they are. I'm hoping that Rudd will get into power - he has a good plan for early childhood. I'm not all that worried yet - they've told us to expect to get $50,000 our first year out, which sounds good to me. I'll just have to marry an extremely rich guy. Hehehe don't we all wish Do you find you have less time to do things you would like to do now you are at uni?Oh yeah. I feel like I'm always doing uni work. This semester it seems like more pressure because I have to maintain my GPA! What things are you missing out on?Just general socializing. Though, I guess it's not too bad - most of my friends are doing science, so they're probably busier than me!Hehe true Off school now, cause school sucks. You tend to like debate section, so what social issues do you care the most about? hmm...equal rights, abortion, drug use I'm pro-choice, anti-drugsBooh to pro choice I honestly don't see the point in drugs. From what I have seen, they just ruin lives. Nah the thing about pro-choice is that I understand that people don't want to have abortions. And that's cool. But I think the option should be available.Hehe we differ there but that can go in the abortion thread at another time Ahah oh yeah.Soooo maybe off the serious stuff What is the one thing you most want to do before you die?Visit New York! I decided when I was 10 that I would go before I was 25...so I've still got a few years I hope it lives up to my expectations. Why New York?I'm not really sure. I read a lot of books when I was younger about people going there and it sounded so exciting. Plus, I really liked the Eloise books when I was little - who wouldn't want to live in the Plaza? Will you be shattered if it doesn't live up to expectations?Ahh...well, I'll definitely be disappointed! London lived up to my expectations, so I hope NY will. Did you meet up with tash? No, unfortunately! We didn't really have time. You've been with Kax since its wee early days, what changes have you seen over the past two years?Member size! It's also because a lot less spammy...though with the arrival of Allan . It's also not quite as close-knit as those first few months - but that's to be expected with membership growth.Do you think they are positive changes?Yeah, I do - it's definitely meant more and diverse conversation. Do you miss any of the members no longer with us?Definitely not Kelly. Ahahahaa Or secret, whatshername*shudder*Maddie. Urgh. No, don't miss those two!Anyone you DO miss? I'm trying to think! Well Lis and Laura haven't been on in ages - I miss them! You on Kax do you feel you know the best? You know...I'm not really sure. Maybe Amber? She's such a sweetie. And who is the biggest enigma?Shaun! Ahaha. Mysterious, mysterious! What is your favourite Kax memory?Hard question! I know that if I answer it, I'll think of another and be like, "OH DAMNIT!". So...I'll just say it's all been awesome! Ahah maybe talking about smg on BuffyTalk? The BT bitch thread? Yeah! Oh we had a whole section didn't we. Good times, good times.Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand leastfavourite memory? The whole Maddie fiasco. That was terrible. And to finish up, over the last year do you think you have changed at all through your experiences and how so? For good or worse?Yeah I definitely have changed. I've became a lot more confident and comfortable with who I am. I stopped being friends with some people last year and that changed me - definitely for the better. I like who I am!Sorry for the lack of emoticons, they got lost when moving from MSN! But enjoy!
