Friday Night Lights is a relatively new show on NBC (the first season just ended and it's being picked up for a second) and I just started watching it. Caught the first ep yesterday and after one episode, I'm completely in love with this show! FNL is about a high school football team and their players. In the first ep, we are introduced to Eric Taylor, a first-time high school football coach, who finds himself helming a stellar team that has a real chance to make it to the top. The series follows how the coach, players and their friends on how they handle the pressure of being part of the best football team in the state as well as their studies and relationships. Eric Taylor is played by Kyle Chandler who some might recognize him as the bomb squat guy in Grey's Anatomy. The concept is not unique as there are many movies and teen dramas like this but the way the first ep was shot made the show one of a kind. I really love how it was shot and I actually teared up when I watched the first ep - and that seldom happens, especially with the first ep. Anyone else a fan?

It's about time that Kyle Chandler got himself a show again. Can't remember seeing him in one since the one where he saved people. (can't remember the entire plot of the show, been a long time since it was on and I watched it).
I've always liked the guy and he's soooo cute so I'm glad to hear he's finally catching a break again! ;D

Are you talking about Early Edition Dana? That's the last show he was a lead in if I'm not wrong. I like Kyle Chandler too and he's great to watch in this show.

Yup, that's the one. Yes, do go check it out. If you like One Tree Hill (as this show also deals with high school sports like OTH) then I'm sure you'll like this.

I love OTH, but I'm not a big fan of this one. I read the book it's based on for school, and didn't really like it, but thought I'd give the series a try. It's okay, but not something I'd watch religiously.

Friday Night Lights is about to start here on Fox8 (it's previously only been on Ten HD, I think). I will probably watch the first episode just to see.

NZ has just started showing the first season as well and I'm watching it again. I missed the last 4 eps as I was heading to NZ.
I'm planning to get the DVD. ;D

I'm getting the DVDs when I get to S'pore. I've only seen the first season and NZ is taking ages to air the second. I know season 1 and 2 are out in S'pore so I'll get those then.

I got my seasons from Amazon. Only season 1 is out here. And they are about half the price on Amazon.

Season 1 is NZ is ridiculously expensive. Close to $100 last time I checked.
Which season are you up to, Loz? I heard there are quite a number of cast changes from season 3 onwards. Is it still as good as with the original cast?

Only just started Season 2. Have been busy so haven't had a chance to watch much of anything. I heard they change the cast a lot. People actually graduate high school and leave town

They changed some of the cast in season 3 and by season 4 most of the regulars are gone I think. And yes! They actually do leave the town.

I re-watched the first two episodes. I must not have watched them too closesly before, but they do remind me of OTH but with football, and obviously focuses more on the sport than OTH did with basketball. Plus the whole mockumentary style. So far, so good.

While i see some similarities I think FNL is a far superior show to OTH. And not just because of the Tim Riggins factor I've watched all three seasons twice through now. Love it, love it, love it. I'm pissed i didn't realise its greatness earlier!!

Tim reminds me of a young Sawyer from Lost.

The whole high school/sport theme is similar to OTH but I think the stories revolving around the characters and the sport is done waaay better than OTH in my opinion. Not as melodramatic. Still hunting down for season 2. :-\

From my E! Online e-mail: I didn't read the full article. (Stupid E! doesn't link them directly so I didn't go searching on their site). I don't know how obvious that might be from the last season, but sorry Loz.
