Discuss away! I haven't seen it yet, hence choosing it, so I can't write a review yet

It's definitely one to see. I think I gave it an 8 or 9 on the IMDb. It's one of my favorite "horror" movies, if not of all movies.
The first time I watched it, Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal scared the shit out of me. He is just one creepy dude in that movie. The way he speaks, how intelligent he is and the fact that he's an ex-psychiatrist (right? he's a doctor?) just makes him creepy. But the more I watch it, the more Buffalo Bill scares me. He scares me more than Hannibal does. Those freaky lotion lines give me goose bumps.
Jodi Foster kind of bugs me though. She's a good actress in this movie, but she just sort of irritates me. Not enough for me not to enjoy the movie, though.

I think Julianne Moore was far better in Hannibal than Jodie Foster was in Silence. I just really couldn't take to her much in the film. I think the movie is fantastic. The characters are brilliantly defined, and I think that's much of what makes the film so suspenseful. And Buffalo Bill... he's a freak. He makes for a disturbing villain. It's by far the best of the Hannibal movies, and I really can't fault it, apart from not being a huge fan of Foster in the movie. Discuss away! I haven't seen it yet, hence choosing it, so I can't write a review yet Did you want to borrow my copy?

I think Julianne Moore was far better in Hannibal than Jodie Foster was in Silence. I just really couldn't take to her much in the film. You have got to be kidding me. Foster is Clarice. She is absolutely brilliant and very deservedly won her second Oscar for it. The chemistry she has with Hopkins is some of the best i've ever seen on film. Their scenes together are incredibly tension filled and layered. I like Moore and i think she's a great actress but she's not Clarice. As far as the movie goes i love it. I wrote many an essay on it at uni. I find the study of behavioral science and profiling fascinating so this movie ticks all the boxes there (One of my favourite books is Mindhunter which is written by John Douglas - the person who Scott Glenn's character is based on. I recommend reading it). I think its a great story which comes off near flawlessly on screen and the acting is truly top notch. 9/10 for me.

I agree that Foster's chemistry with Hopkins was fantastic, but it's the scenes where she wasn't performing alongside him in which she kind of bugged me. And it's not that I think her performance was good, it just kind of bugged me for some reason.

I agree with Loz that Foster is Clarice, and she is a great actress in the movie, but I agree with Allan that she bugged me. But that's in everything she does ...

Yeah, I think my issues with Jodie Foster in Silence are her in general. She's technically great. Just annoying.

Probably more creeped out than scared. But it depends on if you're squeamish about certain things.

Did you want to borrow my copy? Yes please So... am I likely to be scared? I agree with Bre there. You'll probably a little freaked, but it comes to what you can and cannot stomach. I can pass the DVD to Bernie when I get back to work on Monday, or run it up to your place one day this week. Just let me know.

I don't think it's scary as much as creepy. But maybe you should watch it during the day to be safe.
