An official trailer for Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - Tim Burton's newest flick was released. Check her out here. It's with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, along with Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall (Wormtail from Harry Potter), Sacha Baron Cohen, and ANTHONY STEWART HEAD!! So who else is excited for this??

Very nice indeed. I've been waiting for ages for the trailer to be released, and I'm not disappointed. Looks like Burton's doing something for a more adult audience, which is nice to see on occasion.

I could have done without Sacha Baron Cohen, can't stand the man.. And what was wrong with Chocolate Factory? I second Liz's hope that he does "mess" this one up as well in that case The trailer looks very promising, and I'll definitly look forward to seeing it. Am also very happy to see Alan in something other than HP

I hope SBC will be 'serious' and not too silly. I wouldn't think he would be, but you never know...

Sacha Baron Cohen is a character actor, and performances in Tim Burton movies can be exaggerated. It seems like a decent fit to me.
And I enjoyed Burton's take on Charlie & the Chocolate factory. But for this story, that take would be absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah. When I think SBC I think Ali G or Borat, so it's weird to think of him in another role.

You should open your mind to what actors do. You believed SBC to be Borat, and that makes him a great actor. I think he'll be perfect in a Burton film.
And I wasn't a huge fan of Burton's Chocolate Factory. It was alright, but nothing spectacular. But I think this movie looks great.

I don't know if I would call him a great actor, but he's certainly funny. Hopefully he'll be entertaining.

I think SBC is a great actor. Playing Borat (including not breaking once when filming) would not be easy. ST looks interesting. And I usually check out Burton films. And i am not a fan of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - the old version freaked me out when i was a kid and the new version freaked me out as an adult

Johnny Depp's voice isn't bad. As I haven't seen Sweeney Todd before, does anyone know if his voice is right for the music?
Imagine if both JD and Helena Bonham Carter decided to quit acting. Tim Burton would have to find new favourite actor!

There've been quite a few versions of it, though I imagine Johnny Depp will be a little different to all of them, but he should work, given his talent, and the Burton slant on the tale.
I would definitely call Sasha Baron Cohen a great actor. He really pulls off brilliant performances, and just because they are funny performances doesn't detract from the fact he does them well. And most actors consider comedy harder than drama.

No need to get snappy, I was just implying that you open your mind to certain acting skills. I've never seen any other versions of this, but Johnny Depp didn't sound bad in the little clips in the trailer. He should be able to pull it off.

Anyone who can stay in character for WEEKS at a time and not have anyone suspicious, is a great actor. Especially when Borat is so very far removed from SBC's actual personality.
I want to see this, and no not just cause Johnny is in it!

Okay, saw this today - it was great! Classic Burton. Johnny and Helena were excellent, as was SBC. He really is a good actor. Alan Rickman was also very good! ASH was in it for like 2 seconds! Disappointing! IMDb say: When filming began, there was to be an inclusion of the spirits of Sweeney Todd's victims (including actors Anthony Head and Christopher Lee), who would sing The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, its reprises, and the Epilogue. These songs were recorded, but eventually cut since director Tim Burton felt that the songs were too theatrical for the film. .

I caught it this afternoon and I enjoyed it. I was never a fan of Tim Burton films but this is one film that I enjoyed quite a bit. Musicals always left me in a bore but this didn't (the second musical that didn't after Hairspray). I was disappointed that ASH was only in it for a few seconds. From what I've read, I was under the impression that he was one of the main characters or something.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but It was surprising to see that he made it in at all. I was under the impression that he'd been cut entirely. Hopefully his full role will be included on the DVD
