My conversation with Loz about the Bond movies made me think about movie franchises in general - there are a lot of them out there, some good, some crap.
What ones do you like, or otherwise, what ones do you hate? Are there any you think that they've just milked too far?

My favourite is probably Harry Potter. I also really like Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars.
I'm sick of the "movie" movies - Scary Movie, Epic Movie etc. I think they should have just made the first two Home Alones.

My favourite is POTC, and my second Favourite is LOTR , Die Hard I love to (Have seen 4.0 though) , the mummy, indiana Jones , I am sure there are more to.
Home Alone I agree with Liz, 1 & 2 are great, and classics, but I think they ruined it with 3 .

Star Wars, LOTR, Back to the Future, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, X Men. First 2 Batman movies and Batman Begins but the third and fourth should be erased And unsurprisingly I own all of those POTC I loved the first two, haven't seen the third yet, but I wouldn't call it a favourite. Spiderman is overrated imo, the first one was good, second ok, third bollocks.

3 just killed it for me, they shouldve left it at 2, if 3 was bad, i can only imagine what 4 was like :/ . and I completely forgot about Back to the future! Though Batman begins, was not good!

You didn't like Batman Begins? You're crazy, Nico!
I love the Batman movies, except 3 and 4 are forgettable. The Lord of the Rings are my favorite, Star Wars, Star Trek (the original series films), Harry Potter, Shrek, Rocky, The Godfather ... that's all I can think of atm.

to Nico for the lack of Batman Begins love. The first two were great, but the second two not so much. On the DVDs, Joel Shumacher was quite open about how he went wrong with the movies, and how he sold out to follow the studio. It's quite interesting. And it occurs to me that I don't think there has ever been a movie franchise based on comics that was still good by the third chapter. Both X-Men and Spider-Man dropped the ball, too.

On the DVDs, Joel Shumacher was quite open about how he went wrong with the movies, and how he sold out to follow the studio. It's quite interesting. Joel Shumacher is an idiot.... the 3rd movie was okay, it had its highlights, though it tried to hard to capture the 2-villians that Batman Returns was able to do. Riddler and Two Face just didn't gel for me... Joel comes out with many excuses with out fulling coming out and saying "It was my fault". I love the Batman Movies, and I can stand 'Batman Forever', I think 'Batman & Robin' is just a piece of crap. They should have stuck with just Mr. Freeze, and waited to introduce Batgirl... Or at least introduce her AS Barbra Gordon: redheaded daughter to Commisonor Gordon... I also really enjoyed Batman Begins and I think I will enjoy the other sequals planned for it, though I am sad that Batgirl isn't an option, since she isn't even born yet according to the time line of Batman Begins, so there would be no way for her to become Batgirl... The X-Men movies were also good. Though X3 was a hit and a miss.

I would never tell you to do that Star Wars is easily the best franchise, even The Phantom Menace can't ruin that Pirates of the Caribbean is overrated The first one was great, but the next two were easy watching but not great movies.

That's a huge relief, Nico. And I agree 100% with you Shaun, about the PotC. I loved the first one, but the second and third weren't nearly as good.

I look at Star Wars as two separate franchises. The "real" one and the second rate knock-off. I really don't get how people can say that Lucas has managed to ruin the originals with the prequels - he just failed to make them anywhere near as good. I thought PotC 3 was a lot better than #2, but it was still not up to the standard of the original. I think the problem with the sequels was that they were just trying to make things bigger, but in doing so, they sacrificed the fun of the original. Jack Sparrow needs a

Lots of movie franchises take it too far. They keep going and never have an end ahaha look at Land Before Time for kids, think there about 20 now Dunno quite what make something a franchise, if it have more than 2 movies or 3? There much more of them now, and much more remakes. Karate Kid a new one i think shoulda only had the 1 movie but they now made 5 of them. Made too many Superman and Spiderman ones too. Now they taking Spidey back to beginning like they done with Batman to get more movies.
