There has been talk in several threads so far about whether Spike is cool or not. So I decided to bring the conversation away from other topics and slam it all into this thread. So, Spike. Love him or hate him? What do you think of his character growth throughout BtVS? Favourite Spike moment? Least favourite moment? Favourite quote?

I love him! Oh, so much to say... Spike is great! I loved his character from School Hard up till Not Fade Away. I love his character, whether he's got a chip, soul, no soul, he's all around hot! (Not just in look). My favorite Spike moment? When he was visiting Joyce and doing the little "grr" faces at her. Great stuff. Also, in OMWF when he kissed Buffy at the end. That was magical. And, anytime in Season 4 when he was helpless with his chip. Very amusing! My least favorite Spike moment? Hmmm, tough, but I'll say when he tried to rape Buffy. That was low. Even though it was entertaining for the show. As for my favorite quote: I'd say... "Out for a walk... bitch" That's classic. But everything he says is great!

I love Spike! I liked him best when he was starting to fall in love with Buffy he was so cute! I really loved him in season 7 too. my favourite moment is when he tells Buffy how much he loves her in touched. lest favourite is also when he tried to rape buffy

Favorite Spike Moment? After Joyce died and he came to Buffy's house with flowers. Xander thought that it was to get Buffy, so he made Spike feel bad and he left. Then Willow told Xander that there wasn't a card.

Least Fave Spike Moment? When he tried to rape Buffy.

Fave Spike Quote? God, there are so many... Sorry, can't choose! Here's a funny one though-

Spike:A bear! You made a bear!

Buffy: I didn't mean to.

Spike: UNDO IT! UNDO IT!

Love him. I liked him most in season two - I just didn't like him so much when he got his soul. OMG, the blue shirt...just painful. His whole redemption thing kinda annoyed me, I'm not really sure why. Favorite moment? Randy Giles in Tabula Rasa. Least Favorite? Blue shirt. Or when he tried to rape Buffy. That wasn't so cool.

I'm a Spike Fan. When he was bad, when he was chipped, when he was ensouled. Not so much when he was on Angel in Season 5 (although there were glimpses of the character that i adore)

Favourite Spike Moment?
1. In Fool for Love where he just sits down and pats Buffy on the back
2. In Smashed when Buffy rips down his fly and hikes up her skirt - the look on his face is so very brilliant
3. The "Every night i save you" speech
4. When he cries in The Gift
5. Randy Giles
6. Something Blue
7. Rest in Peace in OMWF
the list goes on and on.......

Least Favourite Moment?
1. Pretty much the entire time he was on Angel in Season 5
2. The Dru obsession - I hate Dru

I have to go against the grain in regard to SR - The attempted rape didn't make me dislike Spike even for a second. I may be totally going against the sisterhood but it didn't bother me much at all.

I hate season 6 and more so season 7 Spike. They took so much of his personality away by turning him 'good' that he just became boring to watch. Now season's 2-4 Spike is a completely different story.

EDIT: That's part of the reason why I'm not a huge Spuffy, and only a little bit of one. Because by season's six and seven Spike and Buffy were no longer my favorite characters, I didn't really even like either of them that much to be quite honest. Then they turned Spike into this good guy for what? So he can be with Buffy? Bleh, doesn't seem right to me.

Im on the fence with Spike

I loved Season 2 and his appearance in Season 3. Season 4 is one of my favourite Seasons and he played a big part in that. I got put off him because of Season 7 Buffy and Season 5 of Angel. He was just there all the time. The titles of the shows should have changed to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Spike" and "Spike & Angel"

Spike it one of those characters you just can't live without you need the antagonist and if he's funny aswell! even better. Spike it without a doubt better as the 'big' bad and he has so much fun being the 'big' bad that it makes the audience like him.

I also like the truthfulness of his character, he's useless at hiding his emotions and thats a rare quality in a bad guy.

im a huge spike fan, bad spike is the best, i loved the flashback episode where spike was telling buffy how he killed the two slayers that was cool, and i think spikes best quote was in angel season one in the dark, you see i was once a badass vampire but love and a pesky curse defanged me, now im just a big fluffy puppy dog with bad teeth,quickly to the angel mobile AWAY!

As many of you already know, Spike is my reason for living a lot of the time. He's in almost every fic I've ever written in one way or another. I watch his episodes over and over. I even met James Marsters and decided he's only really cool when he's Spike. I even like Spuffy because Spike is in it.

I'd go into why...but...well....we'd all die of old age before I got done.

I guess I like Spike but not as much as Angel. I think Spike is a great comedic character as well as a edgy hero and sympathetic villain. He can be so many things in just one scence.

He's great to watch and scenes with him are hardly ever boring, but I relate to Angel's character more.

I really liked him in S4. And in S5. But, it annoyed me when he became obsessed with Buffy. Then I started to like him again in S7.

Ahahaha. How my opinion has changed.

I liked him for the most part, until season 7. Mostly because the season centred almost entirely on him, though. It got really annoying seeing as the show was called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, not Spike the Soulful Vampire. And I plain just didn't like him in Angel.

Soulless Spike was a great character. His character went downhill as soon as he realised he was in love with Buffy. I didn't mind him in most of Season 4 but Season 5 Spike was pathetic and annoying. I didn't like his character from then. I hated him being on Angel, I found him to be pointless comic relief.

I didn't like Spike being on Angel either, but what did you not like about him in season 5? I thought he was a great character, especially towards the end of that season.

Spike spent so much of S5 obsessed with Buffy and doing almost nothing but trying to win her over. It didn't fit with much of his character that we'd seen in the early seasons. Even Chip!Spike in Season 4 remained his snarky self for the most part, even doing his part to pit Adam against the Scoobies. I don't know if that's what made Shaun see him as pathetic and annoying, but I can understand that reaction. I wasn't a fan of sappy Spike, although I did continue to like his character throughout the rest of the show's run--for the most part.
