What are you thoughts on this floppy eared, loose skinned demon? I LOVE him. In fact, I kinda got this crush on him......Maybe its James Leary, who knows.....

not my favorite character in the world but he was a good comedy partner for Spike. personally I don't get how you can have a crush on him, all that skin and the floppy ears freak me out.
Oh and Skitty met James Leary at dragoncon this year, just to make you jelous!

He's so sweet. One of the sweetest things on Buffy at all. Did anyone notice he seemed to gain alot of weight between HellsBells and Two to go (or Villians)?

No, I didn't notice that. I always had him in mind as having that extra bit of weight, though. I'll have to rewatch it for the weight gain phenomenon

Yeah, to me he seemed super skinny at the wedding, then a few episodes later he was his normal size. But, maybe thats just me...

LOL, Nico! It was a strange coupling, but it worked for me. I had the impression that Clem held Spike in higher esteem than vice versa, but the pairing worked for me. They were very much Buffy's The Odd Couple. And plug time - If you'd like to see more of Clem, in another "odd pairing", check out Dominion!

Honesly, I can't believe that Spike is actually friends with a guy like Clem! Clem reminds me a lot of Merl from Angel season 1. Both of them served the same purpose as being this likable, funny character who comes in once in awhile to lighten the mood. Won't say he's the best or my favourite character, but I wouldn't turn off the tv whenever he's on.

That's the thing about Clem. He's likeable, which is why I thought Spike gave him the time of day.

Ok, as I mentioned earlier about the weight gain. I rewatched those episodes, and I think it just might be what shirt he's wearing.

I thought Clem was great. I find it really funny that Spike is friends with a harmless demon like him. I wonder if they had only been playing poker recently or he had known him even when he was evil. It would have been funny to see him on Angel, once or twice. He wouldn't fit in at all, just like Andrew.
James (Leary) is a great guy in real life too. He even sent me a message on MySpace once which I thought was incredibly nice of him.

I also enjoyed Clem. He wasn't my favorite character, but we never saw much of him, but he was kind of a funny side note . However, I have a question about him: did he have a soul?

It's never been specified, but if we work on the assumption that demons can have souls, then I would say that he does. He's just a really nice guy.

Yeah, I agree. He listens to Buffy and even seems to respect her, so I'd say he does have a soul. It would be an interesting little trivia fact to find out for sure, though

A good amount of demons on Buffy werent 100% evil, im not sure if that means they have souls, like the demon who Anya went to with Giles , to find out where the Eye thing was, Demons probably can have souls, Clem number one Candidate for sure.

The soul thing is very vague in the Verse and it depends on what one means by it. It can mean the spirit of a creature. In this respect both humans and demons have spirits. This is intelligence, personality, in essence the 'meness' of a person distinct from the body.
The other is the moral conscience of a person. Clem most likely doesn't have a human spirit but maybe he has some sort of moral conscience. Are some demons more akin to human nature than others? Is this a result of human blood 'polluting' demonic bloodlines?
