Can't believe there's no Anya thread! Anyway, what did you guys think of her? Anya's got to be my favorite, but I feel they ruined her character in S7 (like they ruined everyone else). She said things that were ooc, and she got just, I don't know...They just ruined it. What do you guys think?

Anya really did shift gears after she was dumped at the alter. Not just a shift in attitude but a shift in persona and mannerisms. Never really liked her though, wasnt too sad that she was the one that died.

I really wasn't effected with her death either, and I do think she had to go in Chosen, as well as Spike.

I was really sad when she died, I guess because I don't think that her character was ruined. I think she simply grew up after Xander left her at the alter. In the seventh season, she actually began to love humans, as Andrew found out. I thought her growing up was moving.

Yeah, I'll agree with you there. I was sad when she died, just not at that moment, cause it was so quick.

Yeah, but it was shocking and then later it was pretty . Although, Xander took it well when Andrew told him. That was odd.

I liked Anya. She brought in the humour that was missing when Cordy left. The only difference is that Anya had a better character development and story than Cordy. I don't think she was out of character in season 7 though. She grew up a lot in that season and I think people mistake that as her being out of character. I thought she was just awesome in Selfless. Definitely my favourite Anya-centric episode.

I love Anya. She is one of my favorites and every time I see her die, it kills me a little. Does anybody think she'll make an appearance in the comic books? If Warren can come back, she can.

I thought Anya was a really good character to have. She added the comedy as everyone else's characters matured and had a more serious tone, especially when she started working in the magic shop and went a little money-crazy.

I think if any of the characters were to die then Anya was the best choice. She was comedic but was largely useless and pointless in season seven. Her time was done if you ask me.

I don't think her time was done honestly. I can't remember much of season 7 as it's been years since I've seen it but from what I can remember, I thought she still had stories to tell, especially since she was a vengence demon again. I hope she doesn't turn up in the comics. I'm not a big fan of bringing dead characters back, unless the story calls for it. But if the writers want to bring her back just the sake of bringing her back, I rather she stay dead. I mean, look what happened to Spike!

Her vengeance demon storyline ended within the first few eps of season 7. After that she was pretty much pointless. She did nothing noteworthy at all besides playing some comic relief which we could have with Andrew, Xander and Spike anyways. I thought she was dead weight in season seven and was the logical choice to kill off.

Her bunny song in OMWF! Her bunny phobia is just hilarious. I just finished rewatching season 4 and I realised that Anya is a such a completely different character when she first appeared in season 3. Or is it just me?

Nah she isn't. Anya changes a bit over season 4, but at the start she is exactly the Anya we see towards the end of Season 3. She was different in The Wish because she was in 'disguise'. Anya was never mean or Anya-like to the people she was doing vengeance for. She was also nice to Willow in Doppelgangland - but only until she couldn't help her then she was pure Anya.

Anya in season 3 seemed more aware of how humans and the world work unlike in season 4. I don't know. She just didn't seem as dizty in season 3.

One of my favorite Anya moments was in "Hush" when Xander thought Spike killed her and she did her funny little hand sex gesture.

Anya in season 3 seemed more aware of how humans and the world work unlike in season 4. I don't know. She just didn't seem as dizty in season 3. I never thought about that, but you're right! It did seem like quite a change. Although, in Season 3 she was completely immersed in the high school culture. She had role models--good or bad--all around her from which she could model her behavior while at school. We rarely, if ever, saw her outside that world or away from those people, so who's to say that she was really aware of human behavior outside school. In Season 4, her world shifts from the high school to the town of Sunnydale in general, specifically within the Magic Box. She didn't have her vengeance powers anymore at that point, correct? (Sorry, it's been a while.) So she wouldn't have those to rely on while doing her day-to-day tasks. She had to learn how to do everything as a human and in an environment that she may not have encountered while a high school "student."
