I didnt count Buffy Season 3 as he was in it for one episode only, also his appearance in Angel Season 1 will class as Buffy Season 4 Spike
So which Season do you think the character of Spike hit top form. There has been alot said about his character, some didnt like him in later Seasons when he loved Buffy, some didnt like him when he wasnt as integral to the group.
I am voting Season 4, i will post my reasons if this thread gets off the ground at all

I went for season 2 Spike. But I am a fan of him in all seasons. Season 2 he was just a complete bad ass.

its impossible!! I can't decide between season 2 and season 4. I love them both for different reason.
Season 2 Spike was the big bad constantly causing trouble and he a was a bad guy that you knew was possible of killing Buffy and came close to it a few time. In the second half the Spike and Angelus banter was awsome and one of the best reveals in the series was when Spike gets out of his wheelchair and is strong again! you just know the shite is gonna hit the fan
Season 4 Spike was funny but with an edge of patheticness. Then he finds out he can fight demons and this gives him his excitement back, I just love the fact that its the violence that turns him on and not being evil

This is a very difficult question. Each stage of Spike's development, I felt was integral to who Spike is. The chip facilitated although didn't instigate (i'm quite strick on that) Spike's humanisation. Season 5 saw the awakening of Spike's feelings for Buffy and also (mainly in Fool For Love) some of the other aspects of Spike's personality and the reason for his personality.
Although I loved Season 6, it said more about Buffy than it did about Spike. I hate to criticize but Spike was a bit of storyline for season 6 although his astuteness was prevalent.
For me there is no favorite. I'm sorry.

I see what your saying and it is very difficult to pick just one aspect of Spikes character because each season represented a new one.
I can see what you mean about Spike's humanisation, it definately started before he got the chip and there are numerous examples: his love for Dru, wanting to 'save' his mother, his relationship with Joyce
I think the chip actually allowed Spike to be more himself..... he didn't have to put on such a big front in the effort to be the big bad

I went with Spike season 4 of Buffy. It was very interesting to see his transition from bad boy vampire to living in Giles' bathtub.

I voted season 4. I adored the almost sibling quarrel type arguments they had. They were so funny together. This season he easily brought the best out of all the characters. From then on, he just went on serious decline.. But I kinda liked him in 'Angel' season five, as he was more outspoken.
That's pretty insightful, and I complete agree. While at the same time I kinda think that big bad front was a large part of who he was, I think without having him worry about seeming big and strong we could see more of what was really beneath his hard big bad exterior.

Yup. I did it. I voted for season six.
To me, this was Spike's balance point. He was true to his nature, in that he was kind of an ass and all around just mean to pretty much everyone most of the time. But he was also true to his NEW nature, in that he still helped fight the bad guys and he actually got on okay with the scoobies as long as they didn't expect too much of him. It was a nice little return, in my opinion, from the whipped (though noble) Spike we saw in Season Five.

Easily 2!, He was a bad ass, and he was a dope at the same time, and his hunting of buffy was actually like a *hunt*, and I love the whole scene he has with joyce "do i know you" "yes you hit me with an axe once" always makes me laugh!, Plus Spike with Dru, was brilliant viewing, and Kudos for killing that damn annointed one!.

I prefer bad-ass Spike than Buffy-whipped Spike or soulful Spike. So I voted Season 2. I just love his sarcastic nature in that season (in season 4 as well). But I think it's his interaction and chemistry with Dru that made him shine the most. I couldn't stand the Spike in season 5, 6 and 7. The worst Spike was probably in season 5 of Angel. His character just became pointless in that season. #rolleyes#

I voted Spike in season 4 because i think he was at his comedic best. I didnt like sex toy Spike, i didnt like sapp Spike either. It was a choice between Buffy season 2 and 4. Spike was what interested me in Buffy in the first place as i found his brand of evil interesting. But i still liked the "I cant hurt you but i can be one hell of a sarky SOB" in season 4

Season 4 was saved by alot of spike, Though I didnt like it because he was pretty lame in it, but a lot of moments like him trying to stake himself lol, and him wearing Xanders Clothing made me laugh
