the reason i first started watching buffy was for the vamps and demons, and as the seasons progressed the makeup and special effects just got better.
i was wondering appearance wise, who is everyones favorite monster? do you like the oz style of werewolf or nina, do you think the vamps have the best makeup or is there a certain demon who you think is cool.
i personally thought that the gentlemen had the best look, everything about them were creepy the way they looked the way they moved their fingers and the way they walked.
so then what was your favorite?

The Gentlemen still scare the shite outta me! thair make up was awsome and definately got the job done. Another masterpiece is the beast, I can't even to begin to imagine how difficult it was to create that moulten rock effect. Illyria wa obviously amazing work especially when she first transforms.

The Gentlemen definately had the best look. And Gnarl did too, I think they were pretty similar and really cool. Illyria was kick ass too. The werewolves I thought were cute.  Not scarey at all. |

I have spoken to people who have only ever watched one episode of buffy, and thats 'hush' , and they love it because of the gentlemen, They scare me to !
I loved Doc!, He had a neat Tongue, which I thought was a nice little touch!.
I thought the makeup job on the Ubervamps was phenominal, they looked very Ferile and Ancient, but still Human!

The Gentlemen still scare me, too. I definitely think they're the best monstery. I agree with Tash that in terms of dress, make up, etc., Illyria was very, very well done.

Ubervamps definately very well done. Its nice to look back and see how much the make up developed over the year too, the jumb in technology is huge. Out of all the vamp faces I think I like Angel's the best, Darla was damn right ugly, Dru's looks kinda weird and Spikes is a bit ferile.

i think spikes vamp face in the first ep of angel season 5 was so cool they put so much detail in it, it had wrinkles and even viens, definately the best game face in my opinion

The ubervamps were definately well done, they looked creepy. The Gentlemen too of course. The make up and demons looked a lot better as the seasons went on, more money I guess Werewolf-Oz always looked really bad, as did the early vamp makeups, and oh dear - early Anyanka. |

The early 'Angel' vampire makeup was really bad, too. Funny actually. I did like the dusting effects though, as time went by. Like seeing the skeleton in the dust. That was cool.

i always liked the dusting effect too, ive always liked the spell affects also, they always looked quiet natural not like a special effect

The Gentlemen were awesome. When they look through the window at Olivia? AWESOME. So scary! The snakeman looked pretty dreadful, and so did the robot. Balthazar was hilarious! Clem was so cute. I thought the Judge looked a bit dodgy. OMG. The penis head lady from Doublemeat Palace! Hilaaaaarious! The She-Mantis was just crap. heh.
Sooo overall - my favorite would be the Gentlemen, I think.

The work on the vamps face like SPike or Angel was awsome. Also, the ubbervamps were very well done. Early Anyanka was one of the most ugliet things I have ever seen. But, I thought her make up was awsome in Selfless.

I agree with just about everyone on this, it seems. There's no beating the Gentlemen. Illyria's awesome, but I don't really consider her a monster.

Does Angelus count? If yes, my votes goes to him. He was my favourite monster/villian throughout the 'verse. I just love how evil and smart he was.
But he doesn't count, I'll go with The Gentlmen. I loved their slick look, their suits and how they moved. It really made them stand out from the rest of the monsters and demons. Extra bonus with how creepy they look.

I liked Illyria even though the make up was kind of understated. I liked Dru in vamp face for some reason. It was really serpent like.

I don't think the makeup on Illyria needed to be any different, it worked as it was imo. The early seasons Vamp makeup was nowhere near as good as it got later on, which is to be expected. Favourite monsters... well aside from some of the Vampires (Darla, Spike and Angelus) I would say the Gentleman were cool, and The Beast was a very cool villian - and virtually unbeatable And I like D'Hoffryn. |

I think as far as makeup and villains go, no villain can really stand uop to the Beast. It was so original. Definitely the most striking monster IMO.
