Me either. It did seem to be in development for way too long. Now gimme that Big Damn Trilogy!

I think he would have made a good movie, but from the bits and pieces I'd read, he was taking quite a few liberties with the property...
So, I don't know how I feel about the WW movie now. One one hand, it may become closer to the comic, but on the other, Joel Wilver isn't known for being a creative genius.
On the Joss side, hopefully we'll see something sooner because of it.

I read this yesterday and I was pretty surprise. I thought for sure he would be doing it. I'm not disappointed that he's not doing WW anymore but I am disappointed that we won't be seeing more of Joss' works. It's been a long time since we saw anything that is of Joss Whedon and WW was a hope that Joss would come back into the industry with a bang. Hopefully the other projects he mentions does well and puts him on the Hollywood map. I miss Joss.

I kind of blame Joss for this. From what was let out he wanted to do something different to the comic and I don't think thats what DC wanted. I think if he didn't waste his time on the Wonder Woman script would could have had alot of other cool things from him.
I can't wait for a Wonder Woman movie, and I really want one done, but I am sorta glad Joss isn't the head of it, cause I want something close to the comics. I bite my tounge while saying this, but I think Joss was taking a Catwoman approch to the movie.

He didn't want to use any of the established villains, and he didn't want the star spangled panties - instead he wanted to use a skirt, and keep the costume looking less exploitative, with other elements being intact.
I don't know if it's the deviations from the comic that caused the problem, though, he's been discussing how he was doing it publicly for the paqst six months.

can't say I'm disapointed, I mostly thought it wasa waste of his time. I'd much prefer something completely original from Joss

See, I ws hoping he'd make it, and that it would be a big success. Because, if he made the movie, and it made hundreds of millions, it'd give him a lot more clout to do what he wanted.

Its a shame he's not doing it now i think the film would have gave him more credibility as a film maker in stead of a t.v show producer.

I dont think the movie would be a success unless they got Spielberg or Scott to direct and even then id be only 50-50. I dont think it speaks enough to a non comic book fanbase.

I don't know about that. She's a character that everyone knows in some capacity, thanks to the cult following of the TV series.
A lot of it would depend on how much money gets thrown in to advertising the movie. I don't think it would ever do Spider-Man numbers, but there are comic movies based on smaller properties that have been quite successful.

As a non-Comic Book fanatic (i'm not gonna say i'm not a fan ... I just haven't read many) I never took WW seriously. From the TV show it just seemed like a big joke. I mean I was a lot younger and I didn't really know what was going on ... but there are a lot of people like that now who would never watch it no matter how good the reviews were. I don't think he would have gotten the success you think he would. Only Joss fans and Comic book fans would see it and that's not a big enough population to give him huge success, unfortunately.

See, to me, it all comes down to how the movie's made, and how they market it.
As a comic fan, it took me a while to take her seriously as well, until they wrote some great stories revolving around her and her ties to Greek mythology. If the movie ended up being a serious take on the character and mythology, and they publicised that angle - and a lot - I think it could turn a substantial profit.
