The bridesmaids dresses - hideous I really felt for Anya in this episode, I usually love Xander and while I understand he didn't want to get married yet, he treated Anya horribly. The end scene of her in her dress crying is heartbreaking.

I understood where Xander was coming from - the dude got freaked out - but he went about it the wrong way.

Double post, but they're a little over four months apart, so... Are people still interested in this? If so, I'm next on the list, so if you want me to pick an episode, I will.

"Buffy vs Dracula". I figure it'll get some differing opinions, and I don't think it's been discussed at great length on here.

Will watch it soon. How about you open with some discussion points?

I was hoping someone would do that for me, since it's been a while since I've seen it myself. A lot of people seem to dislike the episode - and Dracula as presented here in general - which I really don't get, personally. I thought it was amusing, and was a nice, "light" interpretation of the character, suiting the series well. As a season opener, I thought it was a nice change - seasons 2-4 all opened on episodes which had the characters struggling to get past the events of the previous season, though BvD threw that all away for something that stood alone, more or less (I'm guessing this is because it was basically handled in "Restless"). The episode had some great moments, especially with Xander, and Spike's rivalry with him. Dawn's introduction was also a nice little twist, though it would have worked better if Dawn entering the series wasn't common knowledge by the time the episode aired (here in Aus, anyway).

I've never understood the hate for this episode. Its not one of the best, not by a long shot, but it was enjoyable and had some great moments. The introduction of Dracula was done well, Buffy's shock at him being real and them all being starstruck made me laugh. Xander had most of the best lines but who could forget Giles and the whores Buffy was a tad annoying through the episode but I think she was supposed to be, under the thrall and all. It was a light episode, it wasn't supposed to be taken as a serious "Dracula" episode. Agree regarding Dawn's entrance - as a surprise it would have been very good, but I already knew who she was

I didn't hate this episode but I didn't love it entirely either. It was one of those episodes that you can watch more than twice but not more than ten times. I think the story of Dracula meeting Buffy had a lot of potential but the writers didn't run with it. Instead of making him a monster of the week, he should have been the Big Bad of the season. That would have made the writers flesh out the story a lot more. Instead, it was a bit anti-climatic. With that said, the humour in this ep was classic Buffy. Loved how the gang was starstruck when seeing Dracula but didn't go over the top. And you can't go wrong with Giles and the Dracula ladies and Xander being Dracula's servant. Those two were hilarious! As for Dawn's entrance, it worked well. Would have been better for me if I didn't spoil myself. But that end scene still took me by surprise because though I knew who Dawn was, I didn't really know how she will be introduced. It liked how it was so simple. It was a light episode, it wasn't supposed to be taken as a serious "Dracula" episode. I think the main reason why I wouldn't call this my favourite episode of all time would be because it wasn't a serious Dracula episode. I mean, Dracula is a big thing and this episode was just too light for me. I might have liked it even more if it was a little bit more serious.

I mean, Dracula is a big thing and this episode was just too light for me. I might have liked it even more if it was a little bit more serious. This is why the episode worked for me. Dracula is a big thing, and let's face it, far bigger than Buffy. A serious Dracula story would have completely gone against the style of the series and overshadowed the cast. But this was fun, and it made light of the mythology of Dracula.

I agree with most of the others here. It was okay, but nothing too special. It did also come across very much as a monster of the week episode and I think that cheapened it some. I also wasn't thrilled with the choice of actor, he didn't strike me as, I don't know, regal enough I guess. Still the support cast totally made this ep worth seeing and unlike many of you I wasn't expecting Dawn at all so that was a shocker.

I didn't like it. As Forsaken said, I felt it cheapened it being monster of the week. The only highlights of the episode were some Xander lines.

Some of my favorite quotes come from this episode, it was fairly obviously a filler episode but it was a good one. I was excpecting Dawn too, though I didn't know which episode exactly so that was fun.

We might probably need to move on to the next episode since we've been discussing this episode for 2 years now.

Well people were picking episodes then discussing them... I'm going to unsticky this but if someone wants to pick an ep go ahead.
