I have been watching Angel Season 4 lately, and once I got past that awful third episode (I really don't like House Always Wins) its been all good. I am loving this season far more than I did on the first viewing. And my god, its great to have Angelus back. He is such a fantastic character. I love how he set the team against each other, and his sick humour is great.
So, who else would prefer to have seen more of Angelus than his broody souled other self? Must say, Angel vs Angelus - would've loved to see who managed to dust the other.

oh yeh I loved those ep's with Angelus loose, I wish it had been at least two more ep's with Angelus. I think David really comes alive a lot more when he's playing Angelus

I agree. I was hoping Angelus would stick around longer. DB plays Angelus better than Angel.

wow it's only your second time seeing that season? tsk tsk poor fan you are... although it is quite a bad season...
And yeah, DB plays Angelus far better than Angel. And Angelus is just such a better, more interesting character than damn broody-bum. I still way prefer Buffy-Angelus over Angel-Angelus though...

no way, I think Angel- Angelus was allowed to be more evil, which made him a better character and for some reason DB looks hotter!!! maybe its the leather pants.

Angelus for me.....Broody Angel after awhile gets pretty boring and it's certainly refreshing to see Angelus on screen....and i love how evil he is

I don't mind Angel too much on Ats, its just on BtVS he annoys me. He's fine to watch the first few times you see seasons 1-3, then he just starts to get boring. I don't like him much in Season 5 Ats either. I think the writers treated his character appallingly until the end.

This is actually difficult for me. Angelus is exciting to watch but alot of what makes me like Angel is the moral ambiguity, the conflict between Angel's demon and his soul and how Angel feels about himself and the mission. For me there are more elements to Angel so conversely I'd say Angel.

I voted for Angel. I prefer Boreanaz's acting as Angelus over Angel, but I love the idea of the character of Angel much more.

I haven't replied to this? *stares in shock*
Angel has much more to him then we were allowed to see. The guilt, the pain, the remorse for his past actions shapes him as a character. And the fight between demon and soul...or rather Angel fighting his natural vampiric instincts is interesting to watch. Unfortunately, they didn't emphasize that much on it. I love to see Angel's reactions to things he was never exposed to before. Such as love and death. Not death as in murder, but death as in watching a loved one die. Watching Doyle die was a turning point for Angel. There is a lot more to him then meets the eye, and I like that. Yeah, he broods, but wouldn't you if you were in his position?
That being said, it's Angelus all the way for me. He's just this great character. He has such a dynamic personality and I always love the mental games he inflicts upon everyone--especially those his soulled self cares about. Angelus exudes confidence and it's obvious he will stop at NOTHING to get what he wants. He's realistic though, knowing what can and cannot be done and how he should go about doing what, in his mind, needs to be done. He's clever, calcualting, confident, sadistic, funny, pure evil...and let's not forget incredibly sexy. Yeah, Angel is always sexy, but Angelus and the leather pants and the swagger and the smirk...*swoons*
Angelus is this all around great character. And definitly my favorite overall. I love Angel too, but Angelus is just, well for lack of a better word...better. A lot better. And he is a lot of fun to watch.
And I agree that David Boreanaz is definitly in his element playing him.

I much prefer Angel. I loved Angelus as a villain, and DB did a wonderful job, but was glad he was not around too long at a time. I imagine it would have become boring after a while. I really liked Angel's story of seeking redemption and trying to deal with the side of him that is Angelus and his past. I agree that he was far too broody at times, and definitely more in his element in AtS than BtVS, but every character has flaws.

I love Angelus, but I have to say my vote goes for Angel.
I think Angel was much deeper than Angelus, since Angelus is just pure evil. Angel, however, can show signs of both pure good and faint signs of evil. He may be broody, but who wouldn't be in his situation? Besides, he's a strong character imo, since he has the strength to move on with his life after all that's happened to him.

wow it's only your second time seeing that season? tsk tsk poor fan you are... although it is quite a bad season... Its probably good Kelly is no longer a member, i would have ripped her a new one for that Season 4 of Angel remains to this day, the best season of TV i have ever watched. I really enjoy David playing Angelus. Everything about DB changes when he plays him which i think is a testament to his acting abilities. I think Angelus was around for the exact right amount of time in season 4. But i prefer Angel. He is a very layered character, though i suppose that is actually because of Angelus

Yeah, I think it's interesting because they are two sides of the same coin. Angelus influences Angel and vice versa.
