Split from: ShanshuYou guys might see that the opening post was orginially my post in BuffyTalk. Just to be clear, it was several years ago and at a time when I didn;t appreciate Shanshu. I only saw it as Angel turning human, which I don;t like. I do like Shanshu now because I've seen that it's more than that. I do not, however, like when it's emphasized too much. It's not about the reward As most of us are aware, this is the tenth anniversary of Buffy, which means most of us have been watching Jossverse shows for a while. Lexie's post above got me thinking. Is there anything that you didn't like in the Jossverse, but has grown on you? Or something that you originally liked, but can't stomach now? And if so, what is it, and what has changed your mind?

Hmm, my opinions have shifted a few times. Mostly involving, Spike, Riley, Ruffy and Spuffy I loved Spike and Spuffy while i loathed Riley and Ruffy. It has since switched positions, though i am starting to accept Spuffy even though season 6 Spike continues to bug the crap out of me. My opinion however will never change on Cangel. I am total anti-Cangel and will be forever

I've eased up on Riley's character, since I first watched it. At first, I found him bland, and though he's not exciting, he represented a shift for Buffy, and someone a little more "normal". And it works a bit better for me now.

I originally didn't think Tara could get more boring on second viewing, but I was wrong My opinions haven't changed much on anything on either show.

Hmm... I no longer find Riley as annoying as I used to. And on first viewing I liked Bangel too I'm not as shippy as I used to be though.

For me I didn't like Riley at first but then I liked him in Season 5. I haven't changed that much in terms of my opinion although everytime I hear "The soul the changes...I thought that's what you wanted" I like it less and less but then it's interesting for analyzing Spike's character

I used to like Xander but now I hate the creep. I also used to hate Spuffy but now... no, still hate it. My opinion however will never change on Cangel. I am a total cangel supporter and will be forever.

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of Cordy and Angel and first, either, but after watching the series straight through, I loved them together.

I'm not a fan of Cordy and Angel, and I don't think I ever will be. And how can anyone hate Xander?

I used to hate Spuffy, but now I'm accepting it a lot more. I actually think their relationship was probably one of the most developed in the series. I'm also starting to question if Buffy is better for Angel or Spike. I also used to hate Riley, but I think he's pretty sweet now. It was actually very upsetting when Buffy didn't catch up to him in time. Yeah, so pretty much my opinion changes were the exact opposites of Glenn's

My opinions on some of the characters, like Dawn and Riley, has turned toward the positive. And while there are certainly gaps here and there I've stopped noticing them and really appreciating the series as a whole.
I think because it's been so long since the show first aired, and because both shows have been off the air for a while now, and forums like this where we can come and talk about the shows are still active we've had a better chance of looking at all the different aspects of BtVS and AtS and looked at it very microscopically and on a more macro level.
So, I think now that I've really taken a very detailed look at it, I'm sick of picking out what wasn't good enough or a hole that Joss didn't plug, and instead want to focus on how great the show is on a general level.

Yeah, so pretty much my opinion changes were the exact opposites of Glenn's Opposite when it comes to Spuffy, but the opposite of opposite when it comes to Riley, Miss Laura. I used to hate Dawn and now i mildly dislike her. Slight change.

I used to not like Riley at all but after seeing the show over and over so many times I kinda like the guy now and I get where he's coming from during his time on the show. I find myself going up and down on Xander. I used to like him and I still do but I go up and down depending on the time I'm watching the show. I can love him and then when I re-watch the show some months like I hate him for how he treats the girls and acts all.. well irritating. but then the next time I can enjoy him again. Very irritating actually I've grown to like Dawn quite a bit, especially during season 7. I've also found "Chosen" much better and less disappointing after seeing it a few hundred times..

I didn't like Riley and Ruffy when I first watched season 4 and 5 but after repeated viewings, I grew to love them and they are one of my favourite ships. And I also grew to blame Riley less for the breakup as well.
I was a Spuffy fan before but after watching season 6 and 7 for the second time, I turned to dislike the ship.

There are plenty of things I've changed my mind on, and some are real 180's but a big one that springs to mind is Connor. I didn't really like him as a character at first but having watched through his shows again I think I've gained some empathy for him. He really did get the shaft time after time. Also, I had thought for quite a while that the actor did a poor job with him but I now realize that he played him exactly as he was supposed to. You don't have to like a character for it to be a good character.
