yeh I guess it does, there we're a lot of very good individual episodes and if you don;t like the Adam/ Initiative storyline then it makes sense too

season 4 for me was the weakist season of buffy, the adam story line wasnt as good as they could have made it, their was really good episodes in season 4 however like hush. this years girl ect..
but i tihnk maybe Joss could have done somthing diffrent to it, insted of the goverment thing with adam and all, i mean we have already had the person made up of other people and stuff on buffy in Season 2, Episode 2: Some Assembly Required even thoguth he wasntmade of demons as well it still kindda remided me of that..
maybe the seaosn could have been better if adam like destroyed the Initiative, then gone on a totalt rampage and started to kill ramdom people in the street, that way they would have been more chanch of buffy having to do hand to hand with him more, cos i didt really think they finnal fight was that good again, like the master they could have fighted abit more.
well dunno if it makes any sense but their you goo.

yeh your right that didn't make much sense and I found it difficult to understand your point.
1st of all Daryl from 'Some Assembly Required' was supposed to be a new spin on Frankenstein's Monster, this isn't the 1st or the last time Joss took a classic monster from the movies and used them on Buffy.
Adam was very different from Daryl mostly because their agenda was very different, their strength couldn't even be compared and Adam suited to becomeing the big bad. I think a lot of people don't think Adam because he wasn't your typical smash and grab monster. uniquely Adam actually had a brain he was able to plan and scheme and chose his best moment to strike. Buffy couldn't have lasted fighting Adam every week he ws simply too strong for her and it was only through her friends and the strength of past slayers that she could hold her own against him. I completely disagree that the final battle wasn't good, IMO it was thrilling

thewish why dont you hit spellcheck before you post because i found it very difficult to read what you posted
I loved the amazing penultimate episode of season 4. The whole battle was terrific. I think Adam had an amazing master plan which made him such a great Big Bad. He didn't need to hunt anybody down or go after the Slayer because he had this whole plan sorted out that very much nearly came into fruition. I found his curiosity about the world and its people very interesting and the sight of that demon strung up with his insides on his outside will stick with me.

Spellcheck, proof read please. We're not as slack as Buffytalk here. We like to actually be able to read other people's posts.
Daryl was nothing like Adam. Adam was a human creation, with an actually plan beyond OMG I NEED A GIRL!. Adam was quite a layered character - Maggy Walsh as his 'mother', his curiosity about the world and his place and his interaction with Buffy made him a fairly interesting character, although not one of my favorite Big Bads.

Since I never posted in this Thread, I thought I would, The more I almost watch season 4, the more I hate myself for even thinking about it, I cant stand the storyline, thats why I watch the stand alone episodes, you know like Hush, Something Blue. I think season four is the weakest, or maybe its because Season 3 I absolutely adored, and I had high Expectations.
The Finale was Okay, A little too... magicky for my liking, but I liked it, I liked the whole primitive force to it, and I loved Restless!

The seaspn's biggest problem IMO is that it was disjointed. Also, seasons two and three were very personal for Buffy, and season four missed this.
Add in the fact that they were taking Buffy out of high school, and had to change the setting, it skipped quite a few beats, sadly.
I really enjoyed Hush, Superstar, and Restless.

Yeah I think its stand alone episodes are what rescued it. The Freshman Bugged me, I know Buffy was unsure of her surroundings and such, but It took a hell of a lot of open -mindness (if thats a word!) for me to believe Buffy was getting her arse kicked by Sunday , after all she had faced. Doomed ...was kind of crappy, Although Saved by Spike, and his Suicide attempts, and that shirt ! A New Man , im kinda so-so with, I loved Demon Giles scaring Maggie!

I forgot about A New Man. I really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed The Freshman, but it did require a lot of suspension of disbelief. Summer managing to beat Buffy around was ridiculous, considering Buffy's managed to take on (seemingly) way tougher vamps.

Yeah thats the only problem I had with it, Watching Buffy Struggle to fit in wasn't anything new, but it was nice to see Willow Fitting in, and for this Lovely Quote
Willow- " It's just in high school, knowledge was pretty much frowned upon; you really had to work to learn anything. But here, the energy, the collective intelligence, it's like this force, this penetrating force, and I can just feel my mind opening up, you know? And letting this place just thrust into and, and spurt knowledge into ... that sentence ended up in a different place than it started out in.
LOL!, I also like buffy falling threw the skylight when she was watching the vamps mess around with her stuff!

I used to hate season 4 too, but I have grown to like it some. It was interesting to see the gang in college, and it gave us a chance to see single Willow and Buffy (for some time). Plus, it prepared us for the big twists (Willow turning gay, Faith turning good again, ect.). I never really liked the Initiative, but I liked seeing it fall apart . Restless was also an interesting season ending. It left me confused, yet stunned and interested for more. I also loved the hints it left of Dawn's arrival...

Season 4 is enjoyable, but I think it's a lot weaker than most in the grand scheme of things. There were problems that were out of Joss's control, like Lindsay Crouse leaving at the last minute.
And Adam lacked the something special that makes most Jossverse villains so great.

The news report after he killed the child was pretty disturbing and dark, but I guess that was needed to show how evil he was. Anyway, he was a poorly made villain. It was a cool idea, combining other demons together, but it was poorly executed imo. I did love when Buffy killed him in Primeval though .

Nico and I were discussing season 4 in the Last Ep thread so I thought I continue the conversation here. The more I watch this seaosn, the more I like. Mostly because it has so many great stand alone eps. I agree that the whole Initative storyline could have been better and Adam was boring but other than that, season 4 was actually a good season. And I actually like Riley! He only got annoying in season 5 but here, he was sweet and such a good guy. I did like that the Finale episode to the main story arc was the second last episode, it was like getting a bonus episode. Something blue & Hush were 2 of my favourite episodes. You didn't like Who Are You? or Restless? I counted and there were 11 eps in this season that I loved.

Netflix finally put Buffy on so I am watching some of my fave season 4 episodes. Just watched fear itself. Bahaha poor Anya. "Xander is trapped iin a house, we have to save him." Giles: "What about Buffy?" Anya: "They're trapped too! But we have to save Xander!"

Decicded to turn on Buffy last night to fall asleep to, it idn't work out, what was supposed to be a 5 am bedtime turned into a 1 am bedtime. Wtched Pangs. Oh the funny, Poor Spike stuck in the chair full of arrows. "Don't worry, you guys continue to talk about it." Plus when Xander reveals that Angel had been there and everyone looks at Buffy so shamfaced, except for Spike who looks um.. evil!happy. Best look ever, woke up Ryan cause I couldn't stop laughing. The Something Blue. One of my fave episodes.

As a storyarc I felt it was among the weakest ones, as far as individual episodes go it has some of the best in the entire series.
