I was watching the commentary for "Chosen" last night, and during the scene where Buffy walks down the stairs to the basement and just stares at Spike when he stands up (it's on the last night, and the next scene is when they enter Sunnydale High for the final fight), Joss talks about how he loves that scene because it gave the audience the chance to fill in the blanks. He said that we could choose what happened there, what we think Spike and Buffy did together their last night.
So, what are your opinions? What do you think Spike and Buffy did in their last night together?

I think they probably had sex. They had moved on from their purely sexual relationship in season 6, and they had that scene where Spike just held her all night after she was evicted from her house. So i believe that Buffy had moved sufficiently on from viewing Spike as just a sex toy and they could make love with it feeling special and right.

I don't think they did. Even if Buffy did move on from Spike being just a sex toy, the fact that he still attempted to rape her, it would be difficult to have sex with him that soon after. Not only that, because they just had that night of just laying together, I think that's all they did. But who knows?

Yes, I'd have to agree with Bre here. It is obvious that Buffy trusts Spike again, since she is willing to lay with him all night, but I think that is all they did- laid together and possibly talked for awhile. It seems like Spike wouldn't ask for more, and I don't think Buffy would, especially after her cookie dough speech.

Yeah but her cookie dough speech wasn't her telling Angel that she would never sleep with anyone ever again Also i think that she no longer viewed Soulless Spike and Soul having Spike as the same person. Just like she didn't view Angelus and Angel as the same. She got back together with Angel pretty swift after he came back from hell.

I don't think they had sex. I just think that they slept in each others arms - telling us and themselves that they have moved on (esp Buffy) and are able to trust each other again. That scene just showed that they are at a new level in their relationship.
And I hope they didn't had sex because just sleeping in each others arms gives more meaning in my opinion.

I don't think they had sex. Two reasons: 1) On that night, sex wasn't the goal. She wanted comfort before the end and wanted to stay with someone she trusted. Besides, the cookie dough speech. Sure, Glenn is right with what he said, but I doubt Buffy would say all that and then go bone Spike. It was obvious that Angel was still number one in her life. 2) Wouldn't have been smart. Spike was going to be fighting the next day. He doesn't need weak knees in a brawl against an army of ubervamps.

I'm sure a little sex before a big fight wouldn't affect his strength. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time if he had sex before a big fight.

I doubt they had sex, and think it was nothing more than lying together for comforting reasons.

Angel was not number one in her life, and there is no way on earth you could have gotten that from watching Chosen, crap scene that it was. She told him he was still important - and of course he was. So was Spike in that same way. If Angel was "number one" to her, she would have asked him to stay, even for that one night to be with him, instead she chose to spend it in the arms of another man. Sex or not, it was an intimate night proving to me how important Spike was to her.

Okay Beck, I'm gonna say something to you now that you always say to me. Stop taking everything personally. Every opinion that you don't like isn't a personal attack.
And, Joss created these shows for varying opinions on everything we see. Like he said, the scene is up to viewer to decide. Comes down to interpretation, deary. My interpretation and opinion is that Angel was more important to Buffy. Your opinion is yours. No need to get so hostile about it.

I'm not taking it personally. There are a lot of opinions I dislike that i don't think are complete bollocks I'm "hostile" because in almost every single post you make its either about how important angel is to Cordy or how important he is to Buffy. Not everything is about Angel, and its tiring when so many Bangel fans think that it is. I don't dispute Angel is important to Buffy, but he was not still number one in her life and hadn't been for a long time. I don't think SPike was number one in her life either, to say either is imo, to ignore a heck of a lot of things on the show. Such as Buffy sending Angel away and spending the night in another mans arms

I actually believe Angel's 'brush off' was more his own interpretation rather Buffy's choice in lover. I'm almost certain that it was important for Buffy to be with Spike that night but that has it's own inherent value as far as I'm concerned. While it's inevitible to make the comparison it almost kills me that Spike last night with her should be compared to Angel at all. I honestly believe it's got jack to do with him.
I think Buffy's cookie dough speech was indicative that she hasn't chosen yet (oh just got that pun) and she actually said her sending Angel away wasn't about getting the brush off for Spike but she did care about him. Deliberately ambiguous like the scene with Spike I guess but like it's been said, it was about the intimacy and trust they now shared.

I get that from her saying she sees no future wityh Spike, but often thought about one with Angel. And what did she say about Angel when Anyanka returned??: "I killed Angel! Do you even remember that? I would have given up everything I had to be with? I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life. And I put a sword through his heart because I had to." That said it all for me when it comes to ANgel vs Spike in Buffy's life. But I agree with Kana, that moment was about Spike/Buffy and I can respect and enjoy watching them reach that level of trust in their relationship. I don't think it was sexual though, like it wasn't the last time she spent the night with him.

Key word mate. Loved I don't know (or care ) if Buffy and Spike had sex that night, but it would have meant more for both if they didn't.

My disagreement is that there is a Spike v Angel who is more important question. I don't think either was more important, and I certainly do NOT think Angel is number one in her life and hadn't been since mid season 4. She didn't discount a future with Spike, she even told him she loved him. Spike not believing her doesn't make it not true. In fact Joss himself has said that she meant it.
