Do you think that Wesley did the right thing taking baby conner he didnt as some of Angel inc thought at the time intentionally hand him over to Holtz and did have Angels best interests at heart but surely if he had divulged his discovered information with the group most notably fred or lorne he may have realised that the prophecy was false
what do you guys think

I think Wesley had good intentions, but he shouldn't have kept it to himself. Even if the prophecy was true he should have gone to one of the others, Fred maybe if he couldn't tell Angel. What he did was very very wrong.

Wesley couldn't have been more wrong in his actions!! He should definately told Fred so that they could verify the prophecy, he should have known that these things aren't always right.
And if he had the courage to tell Angel, I think Angel would have removed himself from the picture to stop it happening rather than giving Connor away, then once the dangers passed he could come back

I was very dissapointed in Wes when he took Connor. I know he had good intentions, but he didn't use much common sense. He could have told someone or looked into the prophecy more or done anything! I had thought by then that Wes was more mature and been exposed to more things and knows that not everything is as it seems. Instead, he completely jumped to conclusions. He didn't even give Angel the benefit of the doubt and simply took his son! Angel was suppossed to be his friend-he should have some measure of trust in him. Everything about it really bothered me. I thought Wes had changed and it was really dissapointing to see him go back to his old ways. (You know-prophecys are always right-there is no ifs, ands or buts and vampires can not be trusted) He's lucky Angel didn't kill him. He might have too, if they weren't in a public place-that's another topic, though.

I think he did have trust in Angel but Wesley was the one who always felt that Angelus was lurking around the corner. He knew that Wolfram & Hart were working around the clock to try and lure him to the dark side and if that happened Connor would be a major target. I still think that there were others he could have told, he let his little jealousy stop him from going to Fred but Lorne was always ready to lend an ear and Wes should have used him.

Lorne would have told Angel though and Wes didn't want to 'risk' it. In the end he should have known that he could trust Angel, especially with Connor, Angel would have died before he ever allowed himself to harm Connor

I think Lorne may have made Wes see more reason. How many times has a little word from Lorne helped out a member of the gang. Wesley trusted Angel with Conner but he is a man who believes in the written word and prophecies, add that to the fact that W & H are constantly trying to bring Angelus.

Ok so maybe it was reasonable for him to believe that Connor was better off away from Angel but why give him to Holtz?! A man who has waited 100yrs to destroy Angel's life! surely he could see that many thousands of ways that could go wrong in going to see Holtz and Justine.

He was taking him for himself silly billy Justine slit Wes' throat for the baby remember. Wes had no plans of giving the baby to Holtz, its what they thought at first because Wesley was missing and Angel saw the baby with Holtz. But poor Wes was attacked by that conniving biatch Justine

yeh but he met with Holtz, to me that was the same as giving Connor to Holtz. It was obvious what he was going to do

I think he thought he had good intentions. Ultimately, he wanted to save Connor from Angel. However, I agree that he should have known Angel would have done anything to save Connor--even if that meant saving Connor from himself. Even if Wesley felt he couldn't share his information with Angel he should have confided in one of the others. I think it was wrong to keep the information to himself. I don't know if the others would have been able to tell him the prophecy was false, but at least all the blame wouldn't be placed on him. If anything, the group, if they did all believe the prophecy, probably could have thought up a better plan.

The thing is many people are saying that Wes should spoken to Fred. Don't forget that Wesley was the resident expert when it came to Prophecies, so what could she have told him that would have affected his decision? Plus she would have told Gunn or Gunn would have known that Fred was hiding something and even if they both hadn't told Angel, he would have realised something was going on if everyone began acting strangely.
Perhaps Lorne was the person he should have consulted. Lorne would have already read Angel and might've known if Angel would have been made too happy. The Loa was the one who really swayed Wes but unfortunately he wasn't lying. The Loa said: That the vampire will devour his child is certain. Angel actually did 'devour' Conner in a fashion because he was being fed his blood. Incidently, the Loas were emanations of supreme beings. Although it is unlikely this particular Loa was representing the Powers That Be, suffice to say it would have made Wesley believe that the prophecy was going to transpire.

I know Wesley believed without a doubt that the prophecy would come true, but Wesley also knew that there were ways around prophecies - he knew about Buffy's death at the hands of the master, and that she lived afterwards, changing the prophecy. I'm sure there were other occurances - and Wesley should have been looking at all of these. Ways prophecies had been changed.
Even if he thought there was no way out of it he should have spoken to Angel in the very least. Angel has as much respect for prophecies as Wesley - its possible he may have even given Wesley his blessing to hide the child

Angel's actions and words in Forgiving are a testament against the last statement you made.
Fred: The Prophecy...
Angel: Is a lie...
In any case Wes was afraid to tell Angel anything especially as Angel's behaviour had started to become odd.

Yes he thinks its a lie, but had he been given the proof he may have believed it. His anger at Wesley and the fact that Conner had been kidnapped clouded all of his judgement about a few things at the end of Season 3.

I probably think that this was one of the biggest mistakes Wesley did. It was probably panic that blinded him and made him take Conner.
He should have told someone and that someone should haven been Angel himself. I agree with Tash, if Angel knew about the prophecy, Angel would have kept his distance from Conner. I can see Angel not believing Wesley at first but with a bit of convincing and showing Angel everything that Wesley found, I'm sure Angel would do everything he can in order to keep his son save.
So, no, Wesley was definitely not in the right to take Conner.

The way I see is that if he had told Angel and he didn't agree then Wes would be powerless to stop anything from happening. If the prophecy then transpired then Wes would blame himself for telling Angel so I can understand why he did what he did.

Lorne was two seconds from telling Wesley that Wolfram & Hart had been spiking Angel's blood. Conner started crying, Wesley hummed and then Lorne was knocked out. I think if Wesley had discovered that, he way have realised that something was going wrong. Thats why he should have gone to Lorne for advice anyway.

Yeah I said that above, that Lorne was the best person to talk to about it anyway but I can't see Wes opening up to Lorne for some reason.

I can't see Wesley opening up to Lorne either. If, for whatever reason, Wesley couldn't tell Angel about the prophesy, the next best person would be Fred. Either way, he should have told someone instead of keeping it to himself. I just don't get why he would give Conner to Holtz. It's been awhile since I've seen the season so I'm a little fuzzy on the details.
