Why was it never acknowledged?

I was just watching Season 4 and 5 and something struck me as odd when I watched You're Welcome.

Cordelia had been trapped inside Jasmine since Spin the Bottle and her body had been used to do some horrible things. The worst was probably having sex with Connor. So as I watched YW I thought, why does no one acknowledge that?

Cordelia wakes up, looks pretty upset when Angel mentions the year earlier and they go on their merry way. They get to Wolfram and Hart and she is asking Angel where Connor is. Now, that struck me as odd. Why didn't she apologise for the whole Connor sex thing? Now, yes we all know it was Jasmine who did it but let me point you to a later conversation with Wesley:

CORDELIA: (nervously) Wes? Last year, when that, um, higher...whatever took over my body, did those things. Nobody's talking about it.

WESLEY: What's to say? We all understand it wasn't you.

CORDELIA: Do you?

WESLEY: You didn't kill Lilah.

CORDELIA: I know. Still... I'm sorry. I just wanted to tell you that before— Hey! That's them.

Now here she openly admits that she knows it wasn't yet still apologises. I would expect nothing more from Cordelia. But why, might I ask, did she not apologise to Angel. It's as if she feels like there is nothing to apologise for and what she did at the time was right. That leads me to think it could have been her doing it, and actually was giving Connor something real. Why would she feel that was wrong?

If it wasn't Cordelia doing it, where was the apology that she gave Wes, even if it wasn't her? Why wasn't it acknowledged by either Angel or Cordelia because in my books, what happened with Connor was pretty awful?

Any thoughts?

Hm, good points. Maybe Cordelia just didn't want to mention it, since she knew she didn't have much time and she didn't want to waste it making Angel upset. Plus, her body killed Lilah- killing someone (even if it isn't you) is probably more worthy of an apology, especially since she knows Angel understands she didn't sleep with Connor. They kinda have a mutual understanding about it without really having talked about it- so why talk about it at all?

It just seemed a little ooc for her not to apologise, IMO. Connor was like her son and Angel was the love of her life yet she says nothing. While she, Angel and we all know it wasn't her, it just seemed natural to me that she would want to say something. Unless of course she is including said act in the, "Wes? Last year, when that, um, higher...whatever took over my body, did those things. Nobody's talking about it." speech.

Still it seemed a little ooc considering the person she became.

The way I saw it she seemed to be more sorry for Wes' loss. As Laura said the loss of a loved one is significant and one would say sorry in such a situation. The significance (the way I read it) was less about culpability and more about understanding that Lilah meant something to Wes. Angel seemed to understand and Jasmine did a lot of things aside from the Connor incident. If nothing else most of Cordy/Wes/Angel scenes were more about understanding. The main issue was Angel and Cordy's feeling towards one another. They reached a mutual understanding that they loved each other which implies she wouldn't have consciously sought a relationship with Connor to that capacity so I agree with Laura in that respect.

It's also indicative of the deeper connection and understanding Angel and Cordy have. It shows that she doubted Wes and the others in terms of her culpability but she knew Angel understood because she knows him better than anyone else. None of it seemed out of character, especially if Cordy was saying 'sorry' for your loss and clarifying with Wes the truth of what happened.

I agree with everything Kana just wrote. I don't think it was OOC, I think Cordy knew that Angel fully understood it wasn't her - he understand how it is Angelus that controls him without a soul, and its on a similar vein. And Jasmine-Cordy killed Lilah, thats a worse thing that what she did to Angel imo, the Conner incident, well Cordy might still be feeling the pain from that even more deeply than with what happened with Lilah and not able to talk about it :dunno: More likely, as she said to Wes "No one is talking about it." Maybe she thought it best not to bring it up again with Angel, since she knew he did understand.
