I vote no. It would annoy me. I've said why in various threads but for the benefit of conversation Angel shanshuiing to me is a reward. Him wanting it is like fighting only for that reward, which is why it bothers me that Wes cares if Angel gives up hope on it. There may be redemption for Angelus' crimes but it shouldnt be in the form of being human again. And if Angel wants to be human then he should have stayed one in I Will Remember You. He thought he'd be a danger to Buffy then, and couldn't look after himself. So how would he cope being human again anyway? Pfft.

You left off an option for I don't care I think having Angel Shanshu would have been a stupid plot move, but if it happened in the finale it wouldn't have bothered me. Having the Shanshu gave him reason to keep fighting, not to fall off that path. He wasn't helping people just to get a reward, but if he had no hope for anything himself he could have given up, or stopped caring.

I agree, Shaun. But, I do like the series ending the way it did, because it left it as part of the "never ending battle", which the Shaunshu would have eliminated.
As for Angel, I was worried that it was going to become more about the Shanshu, than doing what is right because he wanted it. Personally, I think him signing it away really showed what a hero he was, and that he is capable of great selflessness.

I wouldn't mind if the series ended with Angel Shanshu-ing. But I would have minded a lot if the series continued with Angel as a human. Like I said in another thread, it would beat the purpose of the show.
To me, the Shanshu is like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

I loved the idea that Angel had the Shanshu on the horizon. I think he excepted the fact that it would probably take a century or two to atone for all his crimes and would have been willing to fight on forever. What made him even more worthy of the Shanshu was the fact that he passed up a chance to be human in IWRY so he could still protect people, he knew it wasn't his time yet.

I'd kind of like to think that Angel would Shanshu but I wouldn't necessarily want to see it very soon. I do think he'd continue to lead a rightous life even after. He is and was a hero before he found out about it and he'd continue that way I think. Look at his speeches about why he fights the good fight (and him signing away his reward as well). I also think that there could be some interesting stories with him as a post prophecy human. However he wouldn't be the same character, I think he'd be less tortured/broody and would make different choices because of that.
Unless for some reason he still felt guilty after he was humanized. Say like he thought he'd sentenced alot of innocent people to hell.

I think Angel would still feel guilty after the Shanshu. I mean, his past is still his past, and season 5 of Angel showed us that even when he thinks he's making the right decision, it's still not it. Post-Shanshu, he'd still have a soul, and he would still feel guilty for his past misdeeds.
He'd continue to fight the good fight, though quite possibly in a slightly different capacity.

No, I don't think I would. I know he's done a lot to help the world and all, but I also think that he should still be able to at the level he does as a vampire, and making him human would make that impossible.

No. I liked the idea of it being forever there but somehow never attainable. I generally don't like things too happy

I believe Angel should shanshu one day. He never fougth for the shanshu. It was always about helping the people. He proved how much of a hero he was when he gave up humanity in IWRY and signed the shanshu away. He is a selfless hero who think about the people. This whole concept of him fighting for a reward is completely unfounded.
Ans let's not forget, if Angel shanshus, Spke which is why I think so many people are against Angel shanshuing. Redo this poll for Spike and compare the results.

Well lets put it to the test... those who think Angel shouldn't shanshu, do you think Spike should?

If Angel shouldn't shanshu, I don't see why Spike should.
If anyone of them should shanshu, it should be Angel in my opinion.

No, I don't think Spike should. I can see Spike reaching the point where he could at some distant point in the future, just as I could see Angel doing. But I don't think either character really should...

I don't know if I'd like the idea of either of them Shanshuing, but I don't understand why people are for Angel shanshuing, but totally against the prophecy being meant for Spike? If Angel can redeem himself, why couldn't Spike?

Oh Spike can redeem himself but I don't think he should shanshu before Angel.
Unless of course Angel turns bad again and Spike continues the good fight. I don't see it being fair if Spike gets shanshu before Angel does in my opinion.

I think people just feel that Angel has fought longer and harder for it than Spike. Also, there seems to be a bit of rivalry between fans - either all for one, or all for the other.
One thing that would have been interesting from a drama perspective is, if in Angel, we saw Spike shanshu. The assumption was that Angel was the "deserving" one, though it would have been interesting to see how he reacted if it turned out that the prophecy was all about Spike.

We saw that, though. All the way through he believed Spike was the one and it wreked him. He lost the fight to Spike, not fighting with everything for a prophecy he didn't believe was his. Then we see how much it breaks Angel having that sort of physical evidence. Then, after Cordy, he moves on and realises that prophecy or not, he is important, if not the most important person in the world. Then, the Circle tell him the prophecy is his and he gives it up, making him truly worthy of it.
As far as I am concerned, Spike can redeem himself and he can be forgiven, buit the shanshu shall forever be Angel's. He gave it up, though so he could carry on. It can only ever be his, and if he is to lose that destiny because he was selfless, then Joss has truly lost the plot.
