Sweet, I've never seen this thread. I agree that Out of Gas is amazing. I don't know if I'd call it the very most crucial, but it is amazing viewing.

What episode was the most crucial then? I think OoG really showed the best and worst of the crew, which I think is important for a good TV show, to know both sides, and OoG helped with that.

I agree Bre, OoG told the tale of how all of them came to be on Serenity as well as how Serenity came to be Mal's ship and the love he has for her. It gave backstory and it showed the love between the crew and the fight to survive. And it also showed Mal as an old captain, as one remembers the captain goes down with the ship and is usually the last person to leave her behind. HoG was a very important episode as well, for the first time we really got a confirmation of Inara's feelings for Mal (even if we had gotten a glimps of them in OMR, this was much deeper) and we also got confirmation of Mal's feelings for her, through Nandi: "I'm not her" - her being Inara. This episode also had Inara give the decision to leave Serenity, which gave base to why she wasn't on the ship in the movie to begin with. Plus Jayne among all those gals, loved it!

I don't know if there is a 'most crucial' episode They were all important for different reasons. Jaynestown for instance showed that Jayne has developed some feelings The very last episode also gave a better glimpse of River. Out of Gas was a fabulous episode though, I loved the introductions of each character, especially Wash

As Beck says, many episodes are crucial for different reasons. OoG definitely didn't strike me as moreso than a lot of the others.

I agree that other episodes had crucial moments, I just think OoG had the most. When you put characters, or any person, in the situation where they think they will die, you see the true personalities. And I just think OoG showed it the best.

I think I agree with you, Bre. It's a very important episode - how they actually all got together.
