I dunno, there was just this vibe...and it's not just me who feels this way! Although the HP fandom is full of slashers.

So, I was thinking: do you think everyone knew that Dumbledore was gay? Did Harry know, and just not care?

I don't think they gave it much thought one way or the other.

I think it's a simple non-issue. If JK Rowling wanted the characters to act any way in particular, she would have written it. I found this article interesting. It's about the potential fallout from Rowling's revelation. Does anyone have any thoughts about it?

Pfft. I do not understand why there's so much fuss about Dumbles liking boys when his own brother liked GOATS.
I don't really understand what she means. I think Dumbledore is often seen as desexualised character, and so maybe finding out that he was in love in a girl/had a wife/had children would be as shocking as finding out that he had a thing for a guy. Dumbledore might have had sexual thoughts? Shock horror!

Many people seem to associate gay people in a position of power and authority with pedophilia it seems Probably stems from the Catholic Priests that used to abuse young boys. But why cant a child read it with innocent wonder now? Surely they wont read all the heart to heart moments between Dumbledore and Harry and see it as "grooming" rather than fatherly type love.

I don't know how much of it stems from the Catholic priests and how much from simple fear - I think people were associating being gay with pedophilia before the priests and their actions were hitting the media.
Personally, I don't think it will matter to kids, unless their parents tell them that Dumbledore is gay and is therefore a very bad man. That said, I think the revelation will have some people trying to read between the lines now, though. But it's a completely different audience to the kids who will apparently lose the wonder.

Hmmm, all those Dumbldore/any male ever slashers must be just glowing. I don't see what the problem is at all, people just need to have issues I guess. Me either, James and Sirius were actually closer too. Boys can be that close and not be bi or gay hey hey hey now Beck, let's not crush my own personal James/Sirius fan thinking... I cling to it and will destroy anyone who denies it. (Yes, I killed off Harry Potter, and JK Rowling for good measure.) Everyone is saying it's all about attention. I whole-heartedly disagree, it's obvious that she just answered the persons question with facts only she knew.
