I'm surprised with you guys. There was all this Dan Radcliffe hate--or at least dislike--and all of a sudden you love him. I'm not saying that I don't like him, it just seems like a big--or, at least, sudden-- change

It wasn't in this thread, it was in favorite characters, which I just checked and there didn't seem to be as much as I thought there was. My bad, you can ignore my previous post

Narcissa castActress Helen McCrory will play the part of Narcissa Malfoy, the wife of Death Eater Lucius Malfoy. Newsround reminds us that Ms McCrory "was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange in the fifth Potter movie, but couldn't play the part because she was expecting a baby." Apparently an "announcement on who will play young Tom Riddle and Lavender Brown is expected very soon." Yay! I found this (photoshopped) picture of her: Pretty good, I think.

Hmmm someone tell me we will find someone nicer to play Dumbldore, the guy who plays him now must have never read the books or something cause he just throws in the OoC-ness a lot.

Yeah seriously. Apparently since he found out Dumbledore was gay he's been really camp on set.

Yeah seriously. Apparently since he found out Dumbledore was gay he's been really camp on set. Well if that comes across onscreen, it would be just as much David Yates' fault for letting it.

Well what I meant is, he's being really flamboyant around the set, stereotypically gay. Not actually on camera.

Well if its not going to be like that on the film then i dont see the problem with him larking around on set.

from what i have heard about the guy that plays dumbledore is that he always acts flamboyant and camp, i dont think dumbledores sexuality has anything to do with it

I really hate the guy who plays Dumbledore. Doesn't read the books, doesn't watch the movies. Urgh!

Wow you're really judgmental about the guy, Liz. I understand if you don't like the way he portrays Dumbledore (and I fully disagree with you about that), but a lot of actors don't watch the movies they're in and I'm sure he's read bits of the book (even if he's not a fan) that are essential to his character.

Oh it seems a common feeling in the fandom. He does an okay job, but he's just too aggressive to be my Dumbledore. And it annoys me that he has such an important role and doesn't read any of the books! (and he's said that too)

I dont really care what most people in the "fandom" have to say about Micheal Gambon Other people in said fandom world, threw their books away when they realised that Harry and Hermione were not going to happen. What has reading the books got to do with anything? He reads the words that are on the script page, not from the book. I really like the way he has portrayed Dumbledore. We find out in the seventh book that Dumbledore did have quite a dark past in which he did things he wasnt proud of. Plus he was part of the biggest duels in the wizarding world, against Grindelwald and Voldemort. If you dont have some kind of aggression in you then you aint gonna be able to duel all that well. If he hasnt read the books and he is playing the part in a way that is believed to be far too out of character for Dumbledore (which i dont think he has) then surely it is up to the director, who i assume has read the books to tell him to take it down a notch in the next take.

Harmony. Yeah, they have some lovely names for Jo for not getting Harry/Hermione together. Nutty.

I agree with Liz, I don't like the way he portrays Dumbledore, he is just really sucky at it. Dumbledore in the movies should at least portray the quality that made Dumbledore in the books so amazing, the way he loved everyone and was so incredibly kind.
Yah he had a hard past but that doesn't mean he should spend 50% of his screen time acting like the school bully. He's supposed to be understanding about pretty much anything. I really don't look forward to seeing how he plays the compassionate Dumbledore when he has to talk to Draco in book six. *shakes head* I just don't believe he was the right person for the part.

Again, you can blame that on the director. And Michael Gambon has shown that he can play compassionate Dumbledore.

I already blame too much on the director, I need to spread the blame. There are the "Dumbldore Speech" moments when he calms down and seems okay but it isn't often. I mostly don't like him in GoF, a great movie but I was able to complain about Dumbledore the entire time. I personally think they should either replace the actor of replace the director for Dumbles, I know there is a lot they have to focus on but Dumbldore is right up there with the Trio as far as Main charcters go. He needs to be a bit more in charcter. I know it doesn't annoy some people but Dumbldore would never attack Harry, he just throws some scenes that should be really good.
