JK - Never say Never

The author has issued a statement saying "never say never" in response to the launch of a global "Save Harry" campaign.

Fans want her to continue her Hogwarts adventures after the publication of what she has maintained would be the seventh and final title, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, on July 21.

Rowling has told readers she plans to write an encyclopedia about all the Hogwarts characters, spells and place names. But until now she has been adamant that there would be no more adventure stories.

A spokesman for Rowling said: "As she said on Friday night in her BBC interview, 'never say never'. It's not saying that she definitely is [going to write another title] and it's not saying that she definitely isn't. I cannot comment further."

So what does everyone think? Will there be more books eventually? I want that encyclopedia

I'm sure there will be more books at some poijnt, but I'd like to see JK give him a rest. It was always supposed to be seven books, and extending past that would be selling out, IMO.

Possibly one or two down the track when he's an adult, or a different story set in the HP universe, maybe.

JK has done nothing BUT say never in regards to another HP book (except the encyclopedia). This sudden "never say never" things seems odd.

If she continues Harry's story, I'd be disappointed. I mean I love love love the series, but there needs to be an end point. I think she should write a totally new story. I mean it can take place in "Harry Potter Land" but have brand new characters. That would be cool.

And I want the encyclopedia, too.

No, she's probably seeing the dollar signs. I guess now that she's finished writing the books, she probably figures that she may feel the need to go back into the HP world. Or she could just be trying to appease people who want more, by saying there is a possibility.

My cousins and I were talking about this over the weekend. When she first started it she had the whole series mapped out. To continue the series after book 7 would be stretching the characters and plots. It certainly wouldn't tap out her creative abilities, but it would probably stretch the Potter verse too much and be more disastrous than people think. Ending the series as planned won't mean fans stop liking it just because it's over. And it doesn't mean that new fans will stop coming up, either.

I personally think it's all a show for the press and fans, baiting them with the possibility of more.

Or getting them to stop sending her mail complaining I'd love to see her continue to write some stories in that world, but not about HP. Maybe something about Harrys father and his friends, I'd love that,

I think it would cheapen it a little if she were to say that she was ending after seven books, and then end up writing more...I dunno. Like Bre said; there has to be an end point, somewhere.
