OK time to discuss the first five chapters of The Philosophers Stone! Post your initial thoughts, whether they have changed from your first viewing, favourite quotes, anything you can think of!

I love the first chapter, it sounds stupid but it was the first chapter that got me hooked on the series while Skitty was actually typing out te chapteres and emailing them to me... I love the way she describes things, but doesn't overdescribe. She gives us enough details to picture a person but use the imagination (or in alot of cases the movie) to fill in the blanks. I love hearing all the strange happenings before we really know whats going on, meeting Harry, Hagrid, Minerva and Albus. It always makes me cry when I read about Hagrid borrowing the bike now that I have read on and know Sirius cause I can't imagine the pain he too was feeling at those same moments down at Godrics Hollow. *sob* Harry Potter, The boy who lived, was such a brilliant way to end the chapter. I think my fave quote from this chappie was "Im lucky its dark, I haven't blushed so much since Madam Pomfry told me she liked my new earmuffs" twas cute.
Chapter two is good, getting to know Harry a little bit better, seeing some of his magical abilities, and seeing what a nasty piece of work his Aunt, Uncle and Cousin are. Horrid really, no redeeming features.
I'll talk about the rest later, I am super tired now though and must sleep. Ciao

I like how on the first page they say Dudley is the Dursley's "small" child. Made me chuckle.

Yah, lol... must be the only time in the book. I love hearing about the wizards on the street that day, coming up and giving Vernon a hug. "Kids and their crazy getups* (or something along those lines) But I still find the first chapter really sad.

Isn't it? "And Harry was left to find the softest bit of floor he could and to curl up under the thinnest, most ragged blanket." Really, after the way they're treated Harry..it's a surprise he's not completely crazy. I love chapter 5 -Diagon Alley. When I first got the book, waaaay back, I used to skip to there. I loved reading about all the magic shops. She writes so vividly.
